Work Text:
Mairead couldn’t shake the haunting wrongness. The curse was no more, yet the thought of it clung to her mind with a tenacity that few other things ever had. Just Jowan, the Joining, and this. Yet just was so mild a word, for that which haunted her steps like it was her own shadow.
Leliana tried to reassure her, but it was no good. She couldn’t understand why it bothered Mairead so much, for neither could Mairead herself. The way Morrigan looked at her, sometimes she wondered if she knew more than she herself did. Or maybe that was just wishful thinking, wanting to be known as she never had been.
