I loved the Borg Collective. I... loved them so much.
And yet, there was no way it could ever be returned. It was impossible for them to do so. They deemed love irrelevant. They would never return it— not even close.
I felt sad about this.
I sat, trying to make sense of it— to maybe make it go away or feel less intense— but my actions were to no avail. Resistance... of this simple feeling... was futile.
It was love that would forever go unrequited. Unacknowledged.
And I could never get close to them to tell it without being assimilated.
And— I don't think I wanted to tell them.
I didn't want to face the heartbreak of them ignoring it.
Maybe, if I was assimilated, they'd understand. Maybe, I'd understand better.
But, I didn't want to be assimilated.
I wanted to coexist peacefully.
Maybe, someday, it would be possible.
