Chapter Text
The date was going so well until... the sky went red.
Neither of us knew what was happening, but I think he had a feeling.
God dammit. I wanted to tell him everything.
I wanted to let him know how I felt. To clear up our misunderstanding, to apologize for everything that happened all those years ago.
I need to tell him.
But how? Now we're panicking, looking around for something, anything that we can hold on to. To distract from the events unfolding around us.
Events I wish I could control.
And you know what's funny? I wasn't thinking of anything, but him.
Not our friends, not my family -- not that I was on good terms with them, but even if they crossed my mind, it'd probably be me mourning the day he met them. A day that would never happen.
A day where we could come together, with our loved ones, hand in hand, man and man, without fear.
Does he even know this is a date?
Not that it matters, but it warms how protective he is of me. I doubt he's thinking of it the way I am, but I don't mind his embrace.
Dying in his arms is the greatest honor he could've given me anyway.
