One Rainy Night

Summary:

An unexpected storm forces the members to spend the night at your house, what should have been a fun, chaotic sleepover slowly becomes something neither you nor Kyrell saw coming. Between late-night conversations, shared laughter, and quiet moments while everyone else sleeps, the two of you begin to notice each other in a way you never had before.
Caught between the comfort of friendship and feelings neither of you expected, the two of you slowly fall for each other while trying to hide it from everyone else—especially Kyrell. With the rest of Ampers&One unknowingly playing wingmen, stolen glances become lingering touches, and harmless teasing turns into something impossible to ignore.
Sometimes, all it takes is one rainy night... to change everything.

Notes:

Chapter Text

The rain poured heavily . The members were spending their off day exploring the streets and browsing through the lines of shops surrounding them. But their little journey was soon cut short as they felt light rain drizzle from the sky, which then turned into pouring rain in a matter of seconds.
"Shit, our dorm is kinda far away... What are we gonna do now... aishh," Kamden sighed frustratedly, quickly shielding himself from the rain as they all sought shelter.
"Hey Brian, doesn't your sister live in the area?"
Brian looked up and nodded.
"Yeah, I'll give her a call to let her know we're gonna crash at her place. Do you think we should call a cab there?" "No shit, Brian. Unless you want to get soaked?????" Mackiah replied sarcastically.
Brian sent Mackiah a dismissive look before pulling out his phone.

Brian 🧢
Yo, my members and I need a place to crash until the rain gets less heavy. We're coming over in 10.
Sissypoo 🐰
EXCUSE ME?? NO WARNING WHATSOEVER??

BRIAN DON'T LEAVE ME ON READ. MY PLACE IS A MESS...
Seen 2:05 PM

You stared at your phone screen and mentally died inside. Your place was a mess—which was kind of what happened when studying a week before finals consumed your entire life. You immediately got to work, trying to make the place seem at least inhabitable and not like a bear had been living in your cave for the past week.
Soon enough, you heard a knock at the door. You mentally prepared yourself to have your brother and an entire group of men you'd probably never met before barge into your living space. "Hey, sissypoo! Open the door, it's FREEZING." You swung the door open with an annoyed expression.
There they were completely soaked.
"Huh... you weren't kidding, huh Brian..." you said in disbelief.
"I told you."
Brian grinned.
"Anyways, you gonna let us in or what, sissypoo?"
"STOP CALLING ME THAT."
The seven boys trailed into your spacious living room while you handed everyone towels before heading to Brian's old room. You grabbed a pile of his old clothes and tossed them over.
"Soooooo, Bri..."
You crossed your arms.
"You gonna introduce them to me, or am I just gonna have eight men in my living room whom I don't even know?"
Brian laughed.
"Alright, alright."
He gestured towards the members.
"So guys, this is my sister. She's an '04 liner, so other than Jiho and Kamden, y'all gotta call her noona."
He pointed one by one.
"This is Kamden, the oldest. Jiho, Siyun, Kyrell, Mackiah, and Seungmo."
Everyone greeted you warmly.
But when it was Kyrell's turn… Something about his bright smile and burgundy hair, still messy from drying it with a towel, immediately drew your attention.
"Hiii! I'm Kyrell. Nice to meet you!" He beamed before holding out his hand.
You shook it.
Damn... he's kinda cute.
His hand was surprisingly warm.
...
As the introductions wrapped up—
Grrrrrr...
Someone's stomach growled.
"MACKIAH!"
The members sighed in unison while Mackiah scratched the back of his neck sheepishly.
"You guys hungry?" You were already walking towards your pantry.
"I could make ramen for everyone. It's cold out anyway."
The boys all nodded enthusiastically.
Before you could grab the noodles—
"Hey!"
Kyrell stood up immediately.
"Let me help you!"
You blinked at his eagerness.
"No, no, it's alright. You guys are the guests." You pointed dramatically across the room.
"The person who's supposed to help is actually..."
"AHEM. BRIAN."
Brian looked horrified.
"Come ooonnn."
He clasped his hands dramatically.
"Can't you do your dearest older brother a favour for once? Pleaaaseeeeeee~"
You simply stared at him.
"...No."
Turning back towards Kyrell, you smiled.
"Well... in that case, I'd appreciate your help, Kyrell."
His face immediately brightened.
"No problem."
He scratched the back of his neck.
"And... just call me Ky. Hehe”
You couldn't help giggling as the two of you walked into the kitchen together.
...
Kyrell opened one of your cupboards.
He froze.
"Damn..."
He slowly looked back at you.
"Do you not eat real food...?"
Concern filled his eyes.
You laughed.
"Nah, this is just my emergency stash whenever school gets busy or I forget to buy dinner."
He looked slightly relieved. But only slightly."You should eat healthier, you know. It's kinda bad for you. What if you get sick?" You chuckled while pouring the noodles into the boiling water. "Aren't you a little too concerned about my health even though we literally just met, Ky?" His ears immediately turned pink. "N-nothing..I'm just saying... it's not exactly the most nutritious food."
He quickly changed the topic.
"So... what're you studying in university?"
"Oh."
You stirred the noodles. "I'm studying architecture." You sighed dramatically.
"Like Brian before he dropped out. It's... hell, to say the least."
Kyrell laughed. "Damn. Didn't know Brian inspired you like that."
The conversation flowed effortlessly after that.
Stories.
Laughter.
University.
Dorm life.
Before either of you realised it, seven bowls of ramen were ready, Kyrell looked over. "You're not eating?"
"Nah."
You smiled. "I already ate."
He nodded before carrying the bowls outside.
"Hey guys! Food's ready!"
The members practically sprinted to the dining table.
"Wow."
Kamden took a bite.
"This is SERIOUSLY good. Thanks so much for cooking for us."
You sat quietly between Brian and Kyrell, simply watching everyone enjoy the meal. Every so often… Your eyes drifted back to Kyrell. His bright smile. His soft features. His messy red hair. You hadn't even realised you were staring—
"Everything alright?"
You looked up immediately.
"W-wh— Y-yeah… I'm fine. It's nothing..." You mumbled, embarrassed after getting caught. Without another word, you excused yourself upstairs to clear your thoughts.
.
.
A soft knock pulled you out of your thoughts.
"Who is it?"
"Kyrell."
A pause.
"Can I come in?"
You opened the door. You'd never realised how tall he was until he was leaning against your doorframe.
"Hey." He smiled awkwardly. "The other members are kinda knocked out except Kamden and Jiho.I didn't wanna interrupt them… Sooo... Hi."
You laughed. "Come in."
Then, almost impulsively—
"Do you wanna play Roblox with me? I found this new game but I don't really have anyone else to play with."
Kyrell's smile widened."Sure." He pulled out his phone."Add me."
...
After almost an hour of yelling over a two-player obby—
"KYRELL!" "DON'T FALL!" "Oh my GOD!" —you both realised how quiet the apartment had become. "Hey, Ky..."You looked downstairs. "The guys are awfully quiet.Should we go check on them?"
"Sure."
He stood immediately. "I'll help carry the blankets."
The two of you headed downstairs only to find six sleeping members sprawled across the couches and floor, pillows everywhere. You shared an amused glance before quietly covering everyone with blankets. After a moment, you looked over at Kyrell.
"Hey...I don't think there's any room left on the couch.I have a spare mattress in my room if you don't mind sleeping there."
Kyrell froze. "...Are you sure?"
You nodded without hesitation. "I trust Brian's members."
For some reason, that sentence hit him harder than expected.A soft smile spread across his face.
"...Then...Thank you." He smiled warmly. “Let me help you set it up."
