Lucy had an odd obsession to say the least. She wasn’t sure exactly when it arose. Maybe it could have been when she was a child and so enthralled by her spirit’s smiles, or maybe it was when she became a teen and realized what it means to be a showstopper, but somewhere along the way, Lucy became obsessed with teeth.
Realistically speaking, it was not just any teeth, no–not in the slightest–she was obsessed with a certain pair of sharpened canines.
No, she of course had to be obsessed with Natsu’s teeth.
“C’’mon, Natsu! Just one more time!” Lucy whined from beside the dragonslayer, voice heightened and tone dramatic. “I might die if I don’t see you smile! Do you want me to die, Natsu?”
“Of course I don’t, Luce.” Natsu shook his head as he spoke, eyebrows furrowed and hand tapping against the wood of the table. The duo sat in the middle of the guild, the rest of Team Natsu surrounding them–although paying no mind to the pair–and Natsu was truly trying his hardest to ignore Lucy’s demands. “And you’re not going to die. You can survive until later, can’t you?”
“It’s not the same–!” Lucy burrowed her head in her arms, legs kicking underneath her. She couldn’t help but want to see his sharpened smile, it was like Lucy needed it to go about her day. “I can’t end a mission without your iconic smile, Natsu!”
The fire dragon chuckles, his smile threatening to poke out, but he quickly hides it behind his hand and away from Lucy’s prying eyes.
“See-!” Lucy exclaimed, pointing an accusatory finger at Natsu. “You’re just being mean!”
“I'm not mean,” Natsu shrugged, hand reaching for a plate of meat Mira just placed down, “just don’t want you gettin’ bored of these pearly whites.”
Lucy peeled her head back up to get her own food, nibbling softly as she watched Natsu eat. After a few bites, he glued his gaze onto Lucy’s speculative form, and sighs with a heavy shake of his shoulders; she was nearly impossible to deny.
Nearly.
“Lucy.” His tone was low, voice gravelly. “You’re staring too much.”
“It’s not illegal,” Lucy whispers, lashes fluttering against her cheeks. “You can’t arrest me.”
“Maybe not.” Natsu slips out from the wooden bench, moving faster than Lucy could predict. He's wrapping his hands around her waist and throwing her over his shoulder without a second thought, ignoring her shocked protests as he walks away from table. “But I can put you on house arrest, which you most definitely deserve.”
“Nat-Natsu!” Lucy yelped, eyes wide and cheeks pink. “Put me down! Everyone’s staring!”
“No can do.” Natsu waves her whining off with his free hand, lazily coasting out of the guild without another look. “You’ll just hafta manage, Luce.”
“You’re so mean today…” Lucy muttered from where she was held hostage, eyes focused on the cobblestone lining the edge of the river.
“Told you,” Natsu turns down Lucy’s street, nearing her apartment complex. “I’m not mean.”
“I beg to differ. I am the one being treated like a ragdoll, afterall.”
The river disappears as Natsu traverses up the stairs, attitude lax as he opens Lucy’s door.
“Also, you should lock your doors. There’s crazy people out there.” The fire dragon lightly scolds the blonde, a teasing hint in his tone. “Someone with sharp fangs might come after you.”
“You’re the crazy one–!” Lucy snapped, her feet now flat against the floor. She pokes her finger back into his chest, face glowering at the slightly taller wizard. “Mean and crazy!”
Natsu just shrugs, choosing to lay on her couch, body sprawled over the cushions, his legs parted just enough that someone could sit between them. “Lucy,” he pats the empty space, eye contact strong and relentless. “Come ‘ere.”
Lucy purses her lips, eyes darting between the spot on the couch and Natsu’s face. His expression is stagnant, dark eyes drilling into her soul, coaxing her to move forward.
She did.
“I’m here.” Her voice is soft, light so as not to break the atmosphere. She curls one leg underneath her, the other just barely brushing against Natsu’s. “What do you–”
Her words get caught in her throat, mouth falling open into a wide grin at the sight in front of her. Natsu was beaming at her, laced with an inkling of a smirk. His canines were on full display, not mocking but teasing in their mighty sheen.
“Wait–Seriously!” Lucy leans forward, eyes focused on one thing besides peaking up at Natsu every now and then. Her hand is pressed into his jaw, thumb brushing over his bottom lip. “All this time, you’ve been holding out on me, just to show me at home.”
Natsu rumbles some sort of noise, ears tinged with color as he grabs a hold of Lucy’s wrist. He pulls her forward, ever so slightly, until her chest is pressed against his own, her face just a push away.
“Didn’t want the guild to see.” Natsu grumbled, eyes piercing and voice low. “I’ve noticed how you get, Luce. Everytime you demand to see my teeth, you get excited.”
“No-noticed–!” Lucy squeaked, eyes shooting open when she felt Natsu pinch her waist. “I have no clue what you’re talking about.” His hand flattened out around her waist, applying the slightest pressure to keep her in place.
“You’re a terrible liar,” Natsu chuckled, eyes slightly hooded, a lazy, toothy smile plastered over his face. “Acting like you don’t turn into a puddle of goo.”
“That sounds like an exaggeration–!” Lucy gasps softly, eyes squeezing shut as a full-body shiver wrecks through her. Natsu trailed a hot finger along her neck, ghosting over her ear, an amused smirk evident on his lips.
“It’s not,” Natsu traced Lucy’s jaw until he settled his hand on the crook of her neck, fingers lightly pulling at her blonde locks. “You’re like a slime.”
“That’s an insult…” Lucy whined, eyes barely rolling, a small smile on her lips. “You should make it up to me. For making me sad.”
“Hah–making you sad!” Natsu choked out a laugh, the sound only furthered Lucy’s demand. Lucy pouts, bottom lip jutted out with an overdramatic quiver, eyes round and watery, tears already forming around her lashline.
“Nat-suuu–” her voice cracked as she put on her sweetest charade possibly, a single tear dripping down her cheek to really drive the point home. "Please, make me happy, Natsu–just for me.”
Natsu was absolute putty in Lucy’s hands. Maybe he was the real slime.
“Okay, okay.” Natsu puts his hands up in defense, eyes darting to the side. He could peak her triumphant smile, the sly hint covering her cheeks, the glistening excitement of having won clouding her gaze. “Only because you’re askin’ nicely.”
Lucy’s face immediately falls into a happy, dazed state, mind nearly overcome by shock when she feels Natsu’s lips against her own. It wasn’t often he acted like this, but it was a happy surprise every time.
She sighs into his mouth, her lips just barely parted, before she feels his tongue pulling her inside, pushing her tongue against his teeth.
This was her favorite part. The sharp feel of his canines scraping against her tongue, the excitement when they bite into her bottom lip–marking her softly in all his beautiful and chaotic endeavors.
Natsu pulls back, the signature toothy grin shining back at Lucy, all but paralyzing her in place. He made Lucy freeze constantly, heart and mind overwhelmed by the man she got to call hers.
“Satisfied?” Natsu swipes his tongue across his bottom lip, wetting the offensive flesh before curling his tongue around his canines, emphasizing Lucy’s longing for fangs.
“Never.” Lucy smirked, all but leaning back in and taking the dragon once again. "I always want more when I'm with you."
