Phoebe is sat in a full classroom as she pays attention to her teacher Ms Aubrey who is speaking aloud “So children today marks the start of windford primary annual international cooking report where you will have to write a report about a dish you cooked that is themed around a specific country along with your parents help in power point and present it to the class this Friday” phoebe turned her head around to face Alex and she said “great! I hope I get paired with you this year.” Alex soon responded with “That would be nice, Phoebe. I’d rather work with you than anyone else.”
The class began to stir as they all whispered about who they could partner up with. Then Ms Aubrey said, “Okay, class, settle down. Here are your partners for this year's report” The class then quieted down as names appeared on the board of the students who were working together. Phoebe scanned the list, hoping to see her name next to Alex, but tilted her head upon seeing who she was partnered up with; it was none other than Hazel Myers. She then said aloud, “Hazel never heard of her before, she must be new” Phoebe then turned to face Alex and asked, “Who is Hazel?”
Alex then responded with “Hazel, is that Dragon born girl over there.” She pointed to where Hazel was sat a few rows across from them. Phoebe turned around and looked in the direction of where Alex was pointing, and Hazel said, “Ah, there she is! I’ll go talk to her,” Phoebe then pushed her chair back and floated out of it. She then floated towards Hazel and stopped once she got close and said, “Hello, Hazel! My name is Phoebe Goodmen. I see that you are new here, so let’s work together and make something wonderful”
Hazel then rolled her eyes and said “I’m not new you’ve just never noticed me. And yeah we’ll be fine as long as I’m not doing all the work.” phoebe then responded with “oh sorry we’ve just never met so I thought you were new and of course I’m going to do work on this project I won’t leave you to do everything on your own.”
Phoebe then said, “I hope we get Spain this year” Hazel then asked, “Why do you want Spain?” Phoebe responded with “I’ve been practising my Spanish all year and would love to get to cook some Spanish food” Hazel rolled her eyes and said, “lets just see what happens”
phoebe then heard Ms Aubrey speak and say “can everyone return to their seats “ Phoebe then said “well I gotta go for now” and she floated on over to her desk and sat down phoebe then listened on to Ms Aubrey as she began to say “today we will be selecting our country via a hat you can talk to your partner about who will be choosing when it is your turn”
When it got to phoebe and hazel turn the too looked at each other as they stood next to each other in front of the hat phoebe said “can I go I just know I will get Spain if I do “and hazel responds with “that’s Exactly why I’m picking. I’m not doing Spain “hazel then put her hand inside the hat and pulled it out a label when she grabbed onto it. Hazel then brought her hand close to her, and she then opened the piece of paper and read what was inside.
Hazel then said, “It says we’re doing Italy” Phoebe gasps and responds with, “Italy, that’s great! There are so many things we could make , Lasagna, pizza! The possibilities are endless. “ Hazel then responded with “Why don’t we do spag bol?” Phoebe then tilted her head, “What’s a spag bol?” and Hazel then responded with “Really? You’ve never heard of it, a spag bol is another way of saying Spaghetti Bolognese. “ Phoebe then said, “Ah, so you want to cook that? Sure, we can do that!”
phoebe then turns around and begins to float back into her seat but then hazel says “Wait!” and phoebe stops in her tracks phoebe then says “what is it hazel?” hazel then says “it has to be a vegetarian spaghetti bolognese” phoebe then responds with “vegetarian why?” and hazel answers with “because I am vegetarian Thought that was obvious “ and phoebe nods her head then says “alright I will have to ask my mum about that since vegetarian food is more expensive” hazel then says “not all vegetarian food is expensive plus will only need to buy Quorn mince instead of regular mince”
Phoebe then looked confused and asked, “What is Quorn mince?” Hazel then responded with “You serious?” and Phoebe nodded her head. Hazel then said, “it’s vegetarian mince you’re over thinking it ” Phoebe said, “Ooh, alright, yeah, I think my mum can get us that then!”
Phoebe then said, “Let's meet at my house. I’ll tell you the address after class, and we can cook the meal today and write up the report then” Hazel then sighed and reluctantly said, “Fine… that sounds like a plan”
After class, Hazel and Phoebe were both outside the entrance of hollow stalls, and Phoebe opened the door, and Hazel walked in behind her, and Phoebe floated into the store and said: “Mum, can you come and help Hazel and me!” Dawn turned around and walked over to Phoebe. She then said, “What do you two want?”
phoebe soon responded with “so its the annual international cooking report it starts today and we’re hoping that we can get all the ingredients for a spaghetti spaghetti bolognese to cook” Dawn then said “sure we have some of the ingredients already just need a few bits” phoebe then said “but it has to be a vegetarian spaghetti bolognese tough since hazel is a vegetarian “ Dawn then shrugged her shoulders and said “yeah that is fine. We only need to buy the Quorn Mince”
Phoebe nodded her head and said, “Let's go!” Phoebe , hazel and dawn all head into Dawn’s car and drive off into the supermarket. The supermarket was vast and wide. It had a lot of items for sale, from clothes to meats to bread and vegetables it even had video games and DVDs for sale and printer’s dawn and hazel and Phoebe all headed to the frozen food section of the store, and Dawn went and slid the freezer door open, and Phoebe grabbed the Quorn mince bag and looked at it.
She then asked “hazel are you sure its vegetarian? It doesn’t look it” hazel let out an annoyed sigh and said “Phoebe of course they look similar that is the point ” Hazel then walked over and took the Quorn mince off phoebe she said “Let’s buy it” the trio the head to the till and purchase the Quorn mince they then head to the car and drive back to hollow stalls.
Once inside the store, the trio headed into the apartment upstairs and went into the kitchen. Dawn then said, “Phoebe, I need you to get 2 carrots, and milk ” Dawn then said to Hazel, “I need you to get 1 bay leaf and 1 garlic clove and 2 celery sticks,” Phoebe then went into the fridge and grabbed the milk She then placed the milk on the kitchen counter. Phoebe then went to where the carrots were stored, got two carrots from the rack, and put them on the kitchen counter. Hazel then went and got 1 bay leaf from the jar in the cupboard, and Hazel also got one garlic clove from where they were put. Hazel got the celery stick from the fridge and put them all onto the kitchen counter.
Dawn got out the pasta, basil, and the passata and vegetable stock cube. She then turned to face them all and said, “Phoebe, could you chop the carrots, and Hazel, could you chop the celery sticks?” Hazel and Phoebe both got to chopping the vegetables together, phoebe them said
“so next we make the mince and the sauce right?” and hazel then added “Yes Phoebe we of course make the mince and the sauce next.” Dawn began to heat the oil in the saucepan and fry up the onion she had prepared beforehand she then said “you two can add the carrots and celery now” Phoebe put the chopped carrots in and hazel put the chopped celery in as well they then watched dawn put the Quorn mince into the pan and stir it. After a couple of minutes, Dawn added the bay leaf, passata, vegetable stock cube, and water into the mix.
once it bean to boil dawn turned the heat down then turned around and said “and now we wait for 30 minutes” phoebe sighed and said “but waiting is boring “ Hazel said “waiting is better than just rushing it and having it fail” Hazel phoebe then said “oh you make a good point “ phoebe then said “hey Hazel do you want to see my grimoire?” phoebe grabbed hazel arm and began floating towards her bedroom dragging hazel along hazel then said “why even ask when your not giving me a choice”
After 30 minutes had passed dawn phoebe and Hazel all headed into the kitchen. Dawn then poured in the milk. Dawn then placed the lid onto the pan and said, “Now we just need to let this cook for 10 more minutes and then I will put the pasta on to cook ” Phoebe then sighed “Great! More waiting alright will just have to play a game then” Hazel rolled her eyes and said “i’m not playing a game with you phoebe” Phoebe then added “okay we can watch some TV” hazel then said “fine” phoebe and hazel both headed into the living room Dawn put the chopped basil into the pan and stirred it once the 10 minutes were up she put the pasta on after 12 more minutes she shouted “Tea is ready now!”
Phoebe and Hazel both rushed into the kitchen and sat at the table. Dawn brought in the plates and plated up 4 plates with forks and spoons. A blue portal soon opened up, and Nerva walked out of the blue portal and sat down at their seat.
Nerva then said “wow phoebe I’m impressed you helped made tea and it isn’t poisonous” phoebe then responded with “why would I poison your food” Nerva then said “I am making a joke phoebe “ Phoebe then went “oh okay I get it now!” phoebe then plated up her food and was about to eat when she heard a flash sound coming from dawn’s phone she then said “mum why are you taking photos?”
Dawn then said, “Because you need it for your report,” and Phoebe went “, Oh yeah, we do” Phoebe then began to eat her food, but then said, “Thanks, Mum!” Once they were all finished, Phoebe turned to Nerva and asked, “Hey, Nerva, can Hazel and I use your computer for the report?” Phoebe then got a reply from Nerva, and they said, “Yes, you can use my computer “
Phoebe and Hazel went to the Nerva’s bedroom and began making the report in PowerPoint. They researched the history of spaghetti bolognese and its impact on Italy and the world, and once the duo was done, Phoebe gave Hazel the flash drive and said, “You can hold onto that for our report since I’ll probably lose it if I am the one holding onto it”
Hazel grabbed hold of the USB stick and took she then said “I don’t want to fail because you lost it” phoebe then responded with “we aren’t going to fail hazel” hazel then said “You don’t know that for sure phoebe “phoebe then responded with “of course I do I’m sure we’re going to pass since we tried our best” Hazel then hesitated “yeah… right well I’m gonna go now see you Friday” Phoebe then said “yeah see you Friday! Remember, Hazel, we’re going to ace this!”
