Chapter Text
Wan was usually always on the go. He loved exploring the world, itseems. Raava didn't complain, she liked the wilds better than those human settlements that had started cropping up everywhere.
They occasionally did stop by some human towns once in while to get supplies, when Wan didn't want to hunt. The concept of eating to stay alive still amused Raava. Spirits like her didn't need food to survive, afterall, she has lived in times before anything that appears to be "food" existed. But now that she and Wan shared a body, she could feel how going without eating would make Wan tired.
What amused her more was how the humans were always huddled together in one… thing. It's called a house, Wan had said so. Sure she had noticed the spirits playing and living together, but in her thousands of years of living, all of it was spent wrestling Vaatu, so she didn't pay much attention to it. Now that Vaatu was locked away, she suddenly has leisure at hand, and didn't know what to do. Not that she could do much anyway, since she basically shared a body with Wan. Not to be mistaked, she finds the situation quite pleasant. Since inhabiting a human body, she has started to experience alot of human emotions. She finds it strange and unnerving, but also exciting. She can't quite remember how she existed before, with only one "duty" and not feeling / doing anything else. Who knew one of the most powerful beings in the world would enjoy experiencing the mortal ways!
One day after they had returned from a small village, Raava couldn't hold her curiosity any longer. "Wan" she started, as he was sitting down under a tree, feeding Mula a moonpeach. He raised his eyebrows. "I've seen that some humans live togther. Why so?"
"They're a family Raava. It means they are related. Like parents and their children, or just a couple. Sometimes even friends live together. Living alone is quite boring. And it helps when there are others to share your work and worries with"
Raava found the concept fascinating. Family.
"Why don't you live with a Family Wan?" She asked, and regretted doing so immeadiately. Sharing body meant she could also feel what he was feeling, and right now he was feeling sad.
"Don't worry Raava, you did not ask anything bad" He said, sensing a sudden shift in her vibe.
He continued. "I used to live with Jaya for a while, before I got banished into the spirit wilds"
Yes, she had known about his story of banishment, about befriending the spirits and learning their ways before he released Vaatu from her grasp on that unfateful (perhaps fateful) day.
"But I don't remember my parents. I've always been on my own, I suppose"
"Would you like to have a family Wan?" She asked. Although he did seem different than the rest of the humans, she couldn't tell because her only interaction with the mortals had been him, or through him.
"Nah, not really. Can you imagine me staying in a hut and selling pots all day?" He sniggered.
"So you like being alone then?" She inquired.
"It's always nice to have someone to talk to"
"Then why don't you….. make a family?" She asked incredulously. Humans were truly confusing. She had thought Vaatu was the embodiement of chaos, but even after his imprisonment, here there was chaos. Ofcourse, Light and Darkness are only relative to each other.
"Well, I have you" He said, a smile tugging at his lips.
Family
Is that what Wan thought of her? Raava wondered.
