Well, this was new. If you told Rex a week ago that he would be stuck in some random hangar with General Skywalker listening to Fives ramble about brain chips and conspiracies he would have told you that you were crazy but there he was. Rex was honestly concerned for his brother, everything about him was...off. From his body language to the way he stumbled over words he looked like he was going insane. Rex wanted to reach out and tell Fives that it was okay, he wanted to do something but he was stuck standing there watching his brother fall apart.
Suddenly, someone dropped from the ceiling and grabbed Fives by the wrist. They started sprinting as blaster shots were fired after them. Rex turned to see four Coruscant guards, one of them ran to release him and the General from the energy field. Without even thinking Rex grabbed his pistols off the ground, set them to stun and shot all of the guards before chasing after Fives and the other clone he was pretty sure was Trip.
He tried to catch up to them but lost them in the winding streets and alleys of mid level Coruscant. He sunk to the ground in defeat as he heard foot steps aproaching.
"You know, you could get into a lot of trouble for that stunt you just pulled" General Skywalker was standing over him with a look of concern in his eyes. "Are you okay?"
"do you know how hard it is? To watch your brother fall apart as you are unable to help him." Rex removed his helmet and tears were rolling down his face. "As captain it's my job to make sure that all my men are okay not just physically but mentally too. And...I feel like I've failed Fives."
General Skywalker sat down next to Rex "Jedi technically are not supposed to have attachments. But I guess I'm a crappy Jedi because I definitely do."
Rex turned to look into his General's eyes, have they always been that blue?
General Skywalker continued "I have attachments to all of my men and every time one of them is killed or gets injured I feel like I failed them. I'm a jedi! I'm supposed to be able to protect people not lead them to their deaths!" He was now crying too "But most importantly, I am attached to you. If you died I don't know what I would do, Because I can't imagine a life where I don't see your radiant brown eyes or your short blond hair that reminds me of sunshine. I can't imagine living without you."
The General cupped Rex's cheek with his hand and leaned in. There lips made contact a Rex was surprised to feel how soft General Skywalker's lips were. He had never realised how much he wanted this until now. He sunk into the kiss, soaking up every bit of affection that the general gave him. Skywalker started moving toward his neck and sucked a hickey into the soft skin. Rex ran his hand through the General’s soft hair, it smelt like lavender. When they finally pulled apart, they looked into each others eyes with love.
"I love you. And I've wanting to say that for so long." The general looked at him, his eyes reminding him of the crashing waves on kamino.
"I love you too, sir" Rex said almost instinctively.
"Call me Anakin."
"I love you, Anakin."
Anakin landed one last kiss on Rex’s cheek.
"Let's go back to my place, I can make us some tea"
"Who are you, Obi-wan?" Rex teased
"Oh, shut up" Anakin replied while helping Rex up off the ground
"...tea would be nice though" Rex said sheepishly.
Anakin looked over at him with a little smirk as they began walking towards the jedi temple.

Anakin and Rex were cuddling on Anakin's couch sipping their mugs of tea. Anakin seemed to only own mugs from gift shops such as the Coruscant aquarium or the Naboo national park except for one handmade mug that said #1 human disaster and had "from Ahsoka" on the bottom.
Rex just finished his tea when there was a knock on the door.
"Can you get that? I'm gonna bring our mugs back to the kitchen" Anakin said as he took Rex's mug and stood up from the couch. "Also, I bet five credits that it's Fives and Trip"
"Deal." Rex thought that there is no way that they are that stupid, the temple is usually crawling with guards.
He opened the door and...force, they are that stupid.
They were standing in the doorway, Rex wasn't even sure if Fives was conscious based off how heavily he was leaning on Trip.
He quickly mumbled out and excuse for why he was in the General’s quarters when Anakin appeared next to him and invited them in.
"Trip! Fives! Welcome, would you likes something to drink?" He was obviously smug about winning their little bet. "We have tea and caf!"
"Um...I'll have some tea, thank you sir." Trip looked a little embarrassed, it was probably his first time in the General’s quarters.
"...Caf" Fives said with significantly less regard for military protocol.
"So.. why is the general in such a good mood?"
Trip was looking at him expectantly but he was not keen on telling Fives and Trip about his lost bet.
"Oh, no reason" he lied
"Yeah, no reason" Anakin had just entered and handed the two men their drinks. And landed a small kiss on his cheek that made him blush
The Captain and the General began inquiring about why they were here and luckily Fives had calmed down and was making more sense. When he finished Rex looked over to see Anakin looking rather concerned.
“Are you sure it was the chancellor?” Anakin asks
“100% sure, sir, you can even check my memories with your jedi tricks if you want” Fives looked close to desperate.
“No, it’s okay…I believe you” Anakin looks solemn but determined “I have some senator friends who could help us with this. Thank you for coming to us.”
Fives relaxed and Trip pulled him into a hug. Rex and Anakin also joined in. When they let go, Fives was fast asleep and Trip's eyes were drooping.
We’ll leave you two to catch up on sleep while we try to sort this out” Rex said
“As much as it hurts to learn that the chancellor is behind this, he must still be brought to justice. I promise, things will get better” Anakin declared.
Rex grabbed a blanket and put it on Trip's shoulders as he was falling asleep.
Rex put on his armour and held his helmet by his side as he followed Anakin into the hall that was still rather empty as the sun had just risen.
"Well, you won the bet." Rex said as he pulled five credits from his pocket.
Anakin cupped the side of Rex's face and landed a kiss on his lips.
"I think I've been adequately compensated" Anakin said as Rex attempted to restrain the red that was rising on his face.
