Carmilla Carmine had scheduled an Overlord meeting, and because the other Vee's were busy... Vox had to go as a representative.
Alastor passed the walls of Carmilla's tower, toward the only elevator available. Until he stopped at the sound of footsteps creeping up behind him; Vox's footsteps. Alastor internally took a deep breath and entered the elevator alongside Vox.
The two Overlords stood as far away as they could from each other, which wasn't very far due to the size of the elevator... They were halfway up—until the elevator slammed sideways, throwing both Vox and Alastor against the wall.
"Agh—!" they both yelped in unison.
The two took a second before finally realizing what had happened.
"Great, just great." Vox said rolling his eyes as he regained his balace. Saying it as if Alastor had caused this.
"You know this isn't my fault."
"I never said it was!" Vox barked. Alastor huffed as his ears fell. Vox looked around the elevator, searching for a security camera... A way to get out of here.
"Carmilla doesn't install your products on her tower, you know that," Alastor reminded. Vox groaned.
"She has before."
"Well she clearly didn't want your pesky cameras in her elevator..."
"Why do you care?"
"I never said I did!" Alastor mimicked Vox.
Silence...
"If anything this was your fault," Alastor finally said.
"My fault?!"
"Of course it is! You're the one who's obsessed with me!"
"No I'm no-"
"That's why you went running to that moth isn't it?"
"Leave Val out of this,you prick!" Vox growled, static clouding his voice heavily. That clearly seemed to have pissed him off...
"Seriously, what's so great about him anyway? That you had to leave me?" The words slipped out of Alastor's mouth before he could think. Vox just laughed.
"Leave you?! Seriously?! You're the one who rejected me! Laughed at me! Left me!"
"Oh please don't victimize yourself just because you can—"
"I asked for a partnership, Al," Vox cut Alastor off. Alastor's eyes widened in realization.
'No... Nononono.. He was just going to use you for his power...' Alastor told himself internally. His breath quickened slightly, it felt as if his heart was bound to beat out of his chest. No longer able to deny what they could've been...
"It's too late now. I finally have someone who cares for me, makes me feel good about myself—I don't have to meet his expectations to be with him—I don't have to—to hate myself so I can be better—I don't have to be enough—I don't have to be lonely, because of him." Vox's voice cracked a few times.
"You—you were supposed to be mine, Vincent—"
"Don't call me that..."
"I was supposed to make you feel good—I was supposed to be there—I was supposed to make you happy!" Tears formed at the corner of Alastor's eyes. Pleading for Vox's forgiveness... Instead, he just stood there, blankly staring at Alastor.
Alastor looked away, shame visible on his face. Silently wiping the tears from his eyes and sniffling.
"Pathetic," Vox mumbled under his breath with a breathy scoff.
After a few minutes of static and silence filling the air, the elevator began to reboot. Alastor had regained composure by then and the two participated the meeting. Tension between them still thick.
