Chapter Text
Kaelix and Seible were your normal couple, they would have dates every month, they would flirt at work, they would spend long nights together after tiring one another out and they would even wear matching Halloween costumes. Seible and Kaelix would work at about the same time but today one of Seible’s friends, Claude had to call out for the night shift. Kaelix and Seible are sitting on the couch cuddling when Seible gets a call.
“Hey Claude-nyan-!”
“Hey Seible. Um, are you doing anything tonight?”
“No, why do you ask?”
“Well… I um can’t come into work tonight, so I kinda need you to take my shift..?”
“… What time is your shift start?”
“12AM…”
Seible sighs in despair and leans into Kaelix.
“Fine! But you have to buy me dinner tomorrow!”
“Sure man that’s the least I can do for you covering my ass!”

It’s early morning and Kaelix and Seible are packing up to go to work. Kaelix stretches after tying his shoes looking at Seible with a worried look.
“Seible?”
“Yeah, K-chan?”
“Are you sure you’re good to take the night shift?”
Seible looks to Kaelix from behind the counter grabbing his lunchbox.
“I mean- I…”
“If you want, I can go instead.”
“I’ll be fine… It’s just darker than normal, it’s not like I’m gonna get lost on my way back.”
“Okay I just want you to be careful, there’s been a lot more missing persons this month…” Kaelix and Seible walk up to the front door and Seible closes it behind him.
“Yeah, but half of this neighborhood is guarded.”
“I know, I’m a little paranoid is all.”
“I’ll be fine. Oh! How about I text you when the shift ends so you’ll know when I take too long!”
“Ok… Be careful, Seible.” Kaelix places a soft kiss on Seible’s forehead before getting into the car.
Most of the car ride was silent, other than Kaelix’s small questions about the shift and what Seible is looking forward to today.
“Hey Seible?”
“Yeah?”
“What mythical animal would you be?” Kaelix asks giggling at his question.
“Well… Hmm… Oh! I think would make a really good siren!”
“Definitely you wouldn’t even need to sing.” Kaelix giggles holding Seible’s hand in his while his other hand on the wheel.
“Are saying that you would just jump off the boat for me?”
“Yup.”

“Text me when you get off work, ok?”
“Of course, K-Chan.”
Seible reaches up and grabs Kaelix’s cheeks before planting a soft kiss on his lips. Kaelix pulls away looking at Seible with shocked look on his face.
“Seible! We’re at work now!” Kaelix says in a yelling whisper trying not draw too much attention themselves.
“When did that stop me?”
“Seible-! Get to work!”

Most of the work day for Kaelix and Seible goes fine aside from the regular difficult customer and flirty person wanting a number or a date. Seible and Kaelix would see each other around the office from time and would sometimes meet in the office break room to check up on how their shift is going. Kaelix’s shift is coming to an end when Seible changes his schedule to take a break and meet up with Kaelix before he leaves work.
“Be safe ok? Be careful out there at night.”
“I will, if something happens to me you’ll be the first one I call.”
“Ok…”
Kaelix leans down and kisses Seible’s forehead and Seible raises his head to get a kiss on his lips.
“I’ll let you have that one.” Kaelix smiles with a pink hue brushing his cheeks before walking out of the break room and making a b-line to the front door.
“Sigh~ I guess it’s time for the night shift…”
By the time Seible clocks into Claude’s shift the sun is about to set and the sky is tinted golden with a sprinkle of clouds.
“At least, the sky looks pretty…”
Seible sits at the front desk of the office working Claude’s night shift job. Most of Claude’s consists of checking the rooms for late stayers and handling at the tapers people need printing for tomorrow; it’s a slightly boring job to be honest, it’s just a bunch of walking and sitting. Seible assumed that it would be scary but many of the late stayers were people he knew and even though all the lights were off not many people were around.
“You know that wasn’t as bad as I thought. Well, at least I can let K-chan know that I saw Furi-chan,”

“Hey K-chan! Claude’s shift was actually really boring!┻━┻ ヘ╰( ;•̀ε•́ ╰)”
“Well did you meet anyone on the shift*Smiles*”
“Yeah! I saw Furi-chan, he was staying late to meet a deadline he was gonna miss(; - -)”
“That’s good!”
“I’m glad you made it out safe!”
“I told you I would be fine K-chan(;^^)”
“I was just worried ok…”
“ANYWAYS you should be getting onto the train instead of talking to me you silly man.”
“Ok I’ll be there in a little bit(;^^)”
“Stay safe Seible(。•̀ᴗ-)✧”

Seible walked down the street before making his way to the street to get to the train when he notices that the street is blocked for an active crime going on.
“Aww man now I gotta walk the long way…”
Seible runs to the street across from accident trying to make the last train.
It’s 4AM when he makes it to train only to find out that the last train left ages ago.
“NOOO!… Now I gotta walk down the forrest path… At night…”
Seible makes his way to the forrest path he’s got bear spray and it’s not wolf season so there shouldn’t be any issues but it would have been better if he could have just gotten to the last train. At least the end of the forrest path is only two streets down from his house. Seible makes his way down the path holding his phone with light on and bear spray in his right hand. The forrest is mostly quiet beside some small owl sounds and leaves breaking.
Seible is half way down in the middle of the forrest when he hears ruffling from the left side deeper into the forrest. Seible raises the bear spray ready to attack just in case when a large mass dashes in front of him across the path, he waves the bear spray around him trying to cover all the area around him. He starts running trying cover the most distance when something slashes his leg; not strong enough to break skin but enough to catch Seible off guard and make him fall. When he’s thrown off his balance he raises the bear spray around him, trying to grab his phone with his other hand. He reaches his phone only to feel a warm breath on his hand.
“AHHH!”
Seible whips his body around to shine his light at whatever is breathing on him.
It’s a large wolf standing on its hind legs.
“AHHH! Get away from me!”
Seible raises his bear spray and sprays the wolf in the eyes causing it to run off onto the forrest. Seible runs making a dash to his house.
When he’s at the end of the path when two large claws tackle him down into the forrest throwing Seible onto his back.
“Get off of me!! I don’t have any food!!”
The wolf like mammal bites down on Seible’s shoulder making him screech and flail around. Seible throws about everything he grab and kicks anywhere he can reach while being pinned by a wolf out for blood. He’s only able to get it off him when he hits it on the side of its head with his phone making retreat into the forrest one final time.
Seible gets up, pulling out his phone to call his boyfriend.
“Seible! Where are you?! Are you okay?!”
“A wild wolf got me in the forrest…”
“WHAT??? Seible wait for me! Send me your location! I’m coming to take you to the hospital!”
Before Seible can even tell him no he hears the car start up over the phone.
“I’m in the path two streets down from our house…”
Seible pokes on of the marks on his shoulders to see how deep they are to notice that they’re not as deep as he thought. Seible sits on the path trying to bandage the bite on his shoulder to see a shadow running at him. When the shadow comes into his view, it’s Kaelix wearing yellow striped pajamas with a monkey hair clip holding up his bangs.
“Seible! Are you okay?!” Kaelix leans down to get a scan of Seible; He doesn’t injured other than a bite on his shoulder peeking though his make-shift bandage.
“I am now… I just need some help getting up.”
Kaelix grabs Seible’s hand pulling him up off the ground.
“I’m gonna take a good look at you then I’m gonna take you to the hospital ok?”
“You don’t have to-“
“Nope I don’t care how injured you don’t feel. I’m taking you no matter what. No debates.”
“Ok, I’ll agree with you but I won’t make it easy.”
“Ok.”
Seible and Kaelix make it to the car and drive to the house.
Kaelix gets out insisting that he opens the door for Seible and holds up his arm for maximum safety. They make it inside the house that smells faintly of cake batter and butter, moving into the bathroom so Kaelix can fully check Seible.
Kaelix starts with Seible’s shirt and undershirt and then making quick work of the bandage on his shoulder revealing his bare chest.
“Hmm, there doesn’t seem to be any other marks so far… Do you remember where you got attacked at?”
“Yeah, it bit my shoulder and swiped at my leg.”
“Anywhere else?”
“No, not as far as I know.”
Kaelix orders Seible to turn around so he can check his back. There’s a bite mark from what seems like a large wolf on the back of his shoulder and a blue-purple bruise starting his lower back to the top of his ribs.
“Damn…”
“Seible, are you sure your back doesn’t hurt..?”
“No why? Should it be?”
“Um,” Kaelix pokes the bruise on his back drawing out a squeal from the brunette. “I think so…”
“Owww! What are you doing back there?”
“Nothing Seible, but did you fall at any point?”
“Yeah it tackled me down.”
“Ohh ok well, you um… You have something on your back…”
“What is it?”
“Areallybigpurplebruise…”
“What? I didn’t hear you.”
“A really big… Purple bruise…”
“What?? How big??”
“Really big.”
“HOW BIG IS REALLY BIG??” Seible looks over his shoulder to see Kaelix already scheduling Seible a doctors’ appointment for tomorrow.
“Um… Don’t worry about it.” Kaelix puts his hands on Seible’s head slowly turning his head back to the wall.
“I’m gonna put some antibiotics on it. It shouldn’t hurt but it’s gonna be really cold.”
“Ok..”
Kaelix then rubs the antibiotics on Seible’s back and holy hell he wasn’t lying when he said it was cold.
“Hey! That’s really cold!”
“I know but after this you can lay down and I’ll come bring you some water.”
Seible yawns, ”You know, that sounds nice…” Seems like someone is ready to go to sleep.
After Kaelix is done he leads Seible into the bedroom and gets him some clothes to wear before walking into the kitchen leaving Seible in the bedroom.
“Sigh~ Seible… How did you even get into this mess?” Kaelix rubs the temple of his forehead.
He walks into the the bedroom to see Seible knocked out in bed with less than half of the cover on him.
“Awww…”
Kaelix sets down the glass of water and kisses the top of Seible’s head before getting into bed, holding him like a lifeline.
