Universal Truths

Summary:

Omegas were weaklings, but the Hound didn’t hate them. Being weak was an inherent part of their nature, and they couldn’t help what they were. That was why they needed alphas, who were built stronger and tougher, to protect them.

The teacher, the Hound had learned as he had whisked him away, was an omega.

Notes:

At long last, Fog Land has its own category!

Work Text:

There were plenty of things that the Hound disliked, but there were a notable few that could really set off the man.

Disloyalty. Dishonor. Weaklings.

The one-armed bastard was no weakling, but the thought of him could get the Hound’s blood boiling.

There were plenty of things that the Hound knew about this devil’s armpit of a prison called Fog Land, but there were a notable few that were essentially universal truths.

Fog could make one rise or make one fall. The one who was the strongest could become the Supreme Leader, and the Supreme Leader could free everyone in time for Judgment Day. Omegas did not belong here.

Omegas were too delicate—fragile—weak—to exist in Fog Land. The Hound hadn’t seen—hadn’t touched—an omega ever since he had been thrown in here, but having felt the teacher’s soft and squishy body had reminded him why omegas could never be condemned to this hellhole.

They could never survive here. They would be devoured within the first hour until there was nothing but scraps—and he knew that to be more so literal than figurative. There were loonies here who had developed a taste for human flesh—the Bone Eater, for instance—and omegas certainly would be a delicacy that might rival Fog for them.

Not only that, but they smelled too good. The teacher had something on him—likely a scent blocker—that had masked his scent, having him under the passing guise of a beta. However, after hoisting him onto his shoulder, the Hound could detect the undeniable sweet smell of omega.

And that had been when he had noticed the teacher’s plush skin, silky hair, sharp yet fetching features…

There were plenty of things that the Hound would do to claw his way to power, but there were a notable few that he would never cross the line.

Backstab his men. Willingly bend the knee for anyone. Leave an omega vulnerable.

Omegas, after all, were too weak to defend themselves, which was why alphas had the responsibility of protecting them.

When the Hound had realized what the teacher was, he had momentarily panicked, seriously considering turning back to leave the omega to the authorities, until he remembered that the guards were now nothing but guts and gore. The Tower had probably been using a guard’s intestines as a jump rope. Like hell he was going to leave the teacher to that mess.

The Hound had his doubts about properly sheltering the omega from the horrors of Fog Land, but what could he do now? He had been the one who had kidnapped the teacher, so he had to be the one to take care of the omega.

Maybe if the Hound did a good enough job, the omega wouldn’t be too scared to tell him how to create Fog. The Hound had somewhat regretted intimidating the teacher, but how could he have known that he hadn’t been dealing with a milksop of a beta? The teacher hadn’t exactly appeared like the typical omega, either… He had been taller than the usual omega, with broader shoulders and a narrow waist and long, willowly limbs…

That had been what the Hound had been thinking until the one-armed man had stolen the teacher from him.

Whatever the punk had done to the teacher, the Hound couldn’t stomach thinking about it. He actually couldn’t stomach anything. Whatever One-Arm had done, jabbing a pressure point alongside his abdomen, he could barely hold down his alcohol. Freaking sucked.

To make matters worse, when the Hound had run into the bastard again, the teacher hadn’t been with him, and the tooth-gapped asshole wouldn’t say where the teacher was.

The cherry on top of it all had been when the Hound had returned to his crib to find the slaughtered remains of his gang, all the handiwork of One-Arm.

That had been when the Hound had made a vow to himself. No, rather, see to what was also another universal truth.

He was going to take the teacher back. And he was going to beat the ever-loving shit out of One-Arm.
