Chapter Text
Green was kicking their legs in excitement as they and White who was sitting next to them watched as the introductional video played on the small TV in the center of the elevator. The contents of the video was being explained by Orange, who they assumed was an HR rep based on their introduction at the first few seconds of the video; on how MIRA had discovered had discovered a brand new energy source called Ore+, a very creative name in Green's opinion and explaining their mission to transfer the Ore+ all the way to Industria.
"First things first, now is a great time to pause the tape and introduce yourself to anyone else in the room with you," as instructed by Orange on the TV, Green pauses the tape with the remote that was conveniently placed next to them and turns to White as they introduce themselves.
"Hi! I'm Green," they started off as they waved at White. "You're White, aren't you? I think I saw you on TV," Green said, remembering the few shows they saw with someone that looked similar to the crewmate next to them but then realized that they could've been someone else since almost every crewmate had the same name and colour.
The white crewmate smirks as they spoke, "I get that a lot, because I'm on TV a lot," they lean back to the somewhat comfortable chair and continued with confidence, "Probably because of all my hard work,"
"Hard work? Like what?" Green asked, tipped their head to the side as they wondered what kind of work White has done. They have never met a crewmate outside of their colony before and from what they've heard from others was that the work they do was completely different from their colonies' so they were curious at what kind of work White has done that isn't worm farming.
White chuckled as they lean forward a bit, "Let me tell you, one day I was walking down the street, completely minding my own business," White recounts that day, although in actuality they were riding their electrical scooter but that counts as walking too since it was down the sidewalk. "When suddenly, out of nowhere, my parents offered me a board member role at their pharmaceutical company!"
"Then, while summering-as a verb-on my yacht, my sommelier-whose name I don't recall-presented me the cork, and on the underside was, you guessed it, a winning ride on this very ship!" White said as if it was something that normally happens to anyone, Green was a bit confused since they have never heard of the words of half of the things White said.
'Maybe work is different for other crewmates?' Green thought to themselves, and as if to confirm their thoughts White spoke again.
"So, pretty much the same kind of thing that happens to everyone," White shrugged, so it is a normal thing, which is odd in Greens opinion but then again they aren't from the other colonies, so things definitely worked differently.
"What's your equally as enterprising life's story?" White asks, while Green doesn't know what 'enterprising' means, they happily answered White's question, "I'm an unpaid intern," a short yet simple answer.
Awkward silence filled the room for a bit before White spoke again, "Anything else?" they prompted, as they hoped that the green crewmate next to them had something more interesting to say the least.
"Oh, I grew up on a worm farm!" Green added, as they think back to their family's farm, while it wasn't much, they were quite happy with whatever they had on the farm such as a large area to run and play with the neighbour kids, lots of mud to land in and the worms they get to catch!
"Oh, how rustic," White was uninterested at what Green said, they have never heard of a worm farm or knew that such a farm existed, but at least it was a bit interesting compared to the other stories they have heard from other crewmates they've met.
The two of them turn their visors back onto the TV, Green then tried, key word tried to play the tape again but accidently speed the tape up instead, skipping over a lot of probably very important information that they both probably needed to know about due to the images shown.
"Ooh, that's a...that's a lot of information," White commented, a bit worried as they turned to Green who was trying to figure out how to use the remote, "Uh, just a second here," they stammered, as they tried to find the right button. While White typically doesn't care about long boring explanations, they do care about safety precautions since their parents work in the medical world.
By the time Green fixed it, a majority of it was skipped through and Orange was saying something about combining sick and paid days, which White was pretty sure that was some kind of violation but different cooperation does things differently so.
Suddenly the elevator came to a halt before connecting itself to the ship's airlocks, the process was extremely bumpy as the two crewmates had to hold on to their seats or else they'll accidently fall off.
"And finally, to give you a personalized tour of the ship, I want to introduce you to.." as soon as Orange threw up the ball, the doors opened and smoke? fog? started to fill up the room causing the two crewmates to cough and grunt in annoyance in Whites case.
As the fog cleared, in the place where the TV was stood the actual Orange from the tape who throws up the small rubber ball in their hands up and catching it, before turning to the two crewmates in the elevator with a smile.
"Me! But now I'm real," Orange said enthusiastically as they welcomed the new intern and contest winner, "Welcome to The Skeld, we're so happy to have you amongst us," they said before muttering, "Or is it 'among us'? I always forget which one is grammatically correct," but it doesn't matter, it's not like there's anyone to correct them.
Green and White clapped at their entrance which was impressive, even for White who has seen a lot of impressive entrances.
"That's right, it's me," Orange enthusiastically holds up the rubber ball in their hand which was a trust ball that MIRA has provided, "Now, when you catch the trust ball, you have to say a fun fact about yourself," as a demonstration Orange throws up the trust ball and catches it, "My fun fact is that I have two pairs of shoes, one for normal day wear, and one foe when I'm feeling sumptuous,"
After saying their fun fact, they throw the ball to White who catches it, " Uh, it doesn't matter how much sleep I get, I always awaken feeling well-rested and ready to start the day," not the most interesting fact about themselves but it was what came to mind.
White then tosses the trust ball to Green, who fumbled to catch it and ended up dropping the ball which gained a look of pity from White. After picking up the ball and getting back on their seat, Green started sharing their fact about themselves, "Uh well, I grew up in a pretty poor area, but everyone back home believed in my dream to one day become a captain," they smile remembering how supportive everyone was, "So the whole town pooled their meager resources to send me off to school in order to-"
"Wow, what a unique dream to have," Orange interrupts Green know that if they let the intern continue, they will be behind schedule, "Now, everybody already knows you're both coming, so let's start our meet and greet," they then walked backwards and waved the two crewmates to follow them which they did, although Green was a bit dejected that their story was interrupted.
Walking out of the airlock that connected the elevator to the ship, specifically the storage area. On the way in, Green gasps nearly walks into a dark-grey crewmate holding a small crate of Ore+, "Excuse me," they said, before turned to the center of the room where a large crate and a few smaller crates of Ore+ were placed. Green sees White and Orange stand there as well so they walked over to them.
"Sometimes your unpaid internship will mean you work in here with Black and Cyan, our two geologists," Orange explains, as they gestured to the two crewmates who place down the small crate of Ore+ they were carrying.
"Namaste," Cyan greeted the three, the cyan crewmate had long hair with slight curls on the end with some lighter patches of fur around their feet and hands, wearing a pink-to-blue tie-dye shirt, a pink headband, and a blue crystal as a necklace. While Black the dark-gray crewmate next to them had a completely different look, having short hair and short pigtails on either side of their head, they wore black mascara and darker-gray eyeshadow perfected into a wing shape at the end, along with a spikey choker with a bell on it.
"I'm a geologist, Cyan is a gemologist," Black corrected the HR rep and Cyan nodded along, while both of their jobs are to supervise the ore shipments, they like to be referred by their correct job titles, "That's not what the paperwork says," Orange says in that stupid sing-song voice which ticks Blacks off, as they pull out the pipe they found, "Well, the paperwork is bullshi-"
"Ooh! Got to go," Orange yelps, as they ushered White and Green to follow them out, not wanting to deal with Black's anger, they'll write that down on their report after this. Once out of the storage, Orange guides the two to the next room on their tour, which was the reactor room.
"And here's the Reactor room," Orange announces, as they entered the slightly dark room which was covered in a light blue glow due to the reactor's energy, "Sometimes your duties will require you to fix-" they were cut off as the vent behind them suddenly burst open and a lime crewmate shouts as they pop their upper body out, causing everyone to scream in fear.
"Finally, the Reactor room," they said as the went back down the vents to grab something, "Those damn gremlins must be turning the vents around," they pull out a jar of water that has a dice and bits of hair in it, "Got to flush them out with some holy water," Green and White looked at each other before back at the strange crewmate in the vents, silently agreeing that they will probably never come into this room again after the tour.
"This is Lime, our engineer," Orange explains through gritted teeth, after getting their composure, "I'm also an ordained minister," Lime adds as they placed the jar down.
"Oh, uh, why are you in the vent," White asks a bit concerned at why someone was in the vents, "What are you, a cop?" Lime demanded, they already have a head of security on the ship, why the hell would they bring a cop.
"No, but I'm friends with cops," White says as they remembered the few cops he met during one of their parents parties, "I'm friends with all kinds of people, landlords, influencers, people who greenlight live-action versions of animated movies, people who watch-"
"Bah! I ain't got time for any o' you jaw-waggers!" Lime spat at them, they could care less about what friend that one has, they then return back down to the vents "Get this outta here, come on-ow!" god they really need to find something to fix these vents other than duct tape.
"Uh, L-Lime is our most unambiguous crewmate," Orange stammered a bit since it's a bit difficult to explain everything about Lime to anyone really, White and Green nodded along as they really didn't wanted to know more about Lime, seeing how unhinge the crewmate was.
Thankfully the security room was located near the reactor room so they could just move on with the tour, Orange ushers the two to follow them behind, "Next up is Purple, who should be..." as they entered the room expecting to see the head of security on the ship, but was met with an empty room with the monitors turned off. Right the one crewmate that MIRA told Orange to keep an eye on is not here, "Oh well, I guess not," they'll look for Purple later, once the tour is over.
"Darn, we'll just have to skip to the next crewmate, who I like the same amount as everyone else," Orange said happily, Green and White looked at each other as they walked down the hallway, as that was an oddly specific thing to say. Orange stops and chuckles as they reached the entrance to the medbay, "Hello, Doctor," their cheeks blushing slightly as they looked at the crewmate in the room.
Green and White looked into the room, curious at who the HR rep was blushing at. They were immediately taken aback by the handsome blue crewmate, who they assumed was the doctor of the ship due to their attire. The doctor had long dreadlocks which were tied up in a bun, with a bit of darker blue mixed in like the stripe patterns on them.
"Hello," they greeted, Orange stuttered before throwing the trust ball in their hands to the doctor, "Uh...trust ball?" they prompted the doctor to say something about themselves.
"After my time building structurally sound homes for the unhoused in Northern Yeniria, I found that trust isn't given; it's built," Blue smiles as they recalled how fulfilling that time in their life was, they then threw the ball back expecting Green to catch it. But instead it hits Green's visor as they and the others were captivated by the doctor's beauty.
"You're the most attractive person I've ever seen," Green spat out, which caused Orange to snap out of it, remembering the rest of the tour, "Let's not objectify the hot doctor," as much as they wanted to admire the doctor, they had a schedule to follow.
The three then made their way to the cafeteria, which is the part of the tour Orange wanted to get over with the fastest since there are a certain two cooks who can't seem to keep their opinions to themselves, "And this is the Cafeteria, I think maybe we can skip this very boring, very fair working environment," Orange added, they looked to where the kitchen was and thankfully the two cooks were working on some pizza, as that gives them enough time to get them out of this room.
Green looks in awe at the large cafeteria, it was the most spacious room they have ever seen in their life, there's even large windows that gives them a view of the infinite space outside. They couldn't wait to be captain someday and fly a ship like this.
Yellow who was spinning the pizza dough on their finger, turns their head towards the group that was passing by, "Say Brown, looks like Orange got that new intern," they said as they let the dough fall onto the counter, leaning against said counter with one arm, they heard that they were getting a new unpaid intern and also some contest winner.
Brown who was a much larger crewmate due to being a tank variant, turns their attention from the cutting board to where Yellow was looking at, humming in agreement as they cut the sausage, squinting their visor at the group.
"How many beans you being paid, intern?" Yellow called out, despite already know in the answer to it. Green gasps in surprised that someone was calling out for them, Orange realising that Yellow saw them, immediately tried to get Greens attention away from the plant variant crewmate.
Orange chuckles as they tried to stand in front of the intern, "We don't need to discuss our rate of beans," suddenly Yellow quite literally jumps out from the kitchen window and bolts towards Orange, surprising everyone including Brown who has never seen their partner do that before in the years they've worked together.
Yellow points at Orange as they got close enough, "Discussion of wages is protected speech," they said before grabbing them by the collar of their shirt and throwing them into their kitchen through the window. Luckily Brown was there to catch the HR rep before they crash into any of their equipment or the floor, while they don't like the rep, they don't like seeing others getting hurt. Brown places Orange down on the floor, before exiting the kitchen through the door to maybe talk to Yellow about throwing crewmates into their kitchen.
"Come on, Green, spill it on three," Yellow starts counting down, while Orange tried to get their attention by talking about the salt on pizza which in their opinion is the best thing ever. Once they counted to three, at the same time the two said,
"Nothing, I'm an unpaid intern,"
"Nothing, you're an unpaid intern," Yellow hums in annoyance as they had expected this, having gone through the same thing before in their youth. Yellow turns and walks over to Orange, who has gotten out of the kitchen, and snatches the trust ball out of their hands, "Give me that"
They then turn to where Green and White were standing, narrowing their visor as they spoke, "Unpaid internships favor the wealthy while being a capitalist exploitation of inexperienced workers under the guise of helping them achieve their personal and financial dreams," they rant before tossing the ball back, in which Brown catches it, who nodded in agreement, "Preach," they added.
Orange snatches their trust back from Brown's hand, as they pass by the two to get to Green and White, "That's enough indoctrination for now, bye, " they said as they pushed Green and White to the next and last location for the tour which was navigation.
"What's a capitalist?" Green asks looking at Orange, then White turns back to look at the two as they pointed at themselves, "Me!"
Orange sighs, at least they're almost at the end of the tour, "Okay, you two, looks like we've got the big one coming up!" they cheered, although in their professional opinion the crewmate they are about to meet is anything but to cheer for. Green gasps as they hope it was what they think it was.
"Oh, you mean...?" White and Orange chuckles at the crewmate's excitement, Orange had read about their report, it stated that Green wanted to be a captain some day. Well they have a long and they mean a long way to go.
"You bet, The Captain!" as soon as Orange said those words, Green squealed and began to run down the hallway, "The Captain! I'm so excited, my legs just started running with ut my brain's input," they turned left and stop in their tracks, as they saw the captain speaking to someone on the large screen.
"Thank you, MIRA HQ, I'll get the Ore+ to Industria on time, with no losses, over and out," as they saluted the screen moves down back into the ship's control panel, and a chair pops up from where the captain was standing. As they sat down, they began to press some of the controls and the ship began to shake. They press on big button on the panel and just like that they took off into space.
"Wow," Green was in awe, they hoped that someday they will get to fly something like this and deliver important stuff like their captain. Orange comes in as well as White, who whistles as the looked around them, they've never been on a ship like this before.
"Ahoy there!" The captain chuckles softly, noticing the look of admiration from Green, "Oh, my gosh! Permission to come aboard?" Green said on impulse, forgetting the fact that they were already on board. Red just laughs, "Permission granted," they fist bump the intern's shoulder, who blushes at the action.
"Uh, here," They turned to Orange extending their hand out, "I'll take that trust ball," Orange hums as they handed the ball to the captain, not bothering to throw it after what happened the last few times they did.
"I'm Red, Captain of The Skeld," The captain, Red started off before continuing dramatically in Orange's opinion, "Shipping Ore+ across the galaxy is lot of responsibility, but someone's gotta do it, and that someone is me, the captain," they then pointed at themselves with confidence, "Captain Red, Captain of The Skeld," then adding, "Me," to emphasize the point.
Orange was unimpressed at Red's speech since they do this every time someone new comes on board, they were still confused at how they were chosen for this mission, let alone becoming a captain within the span of 6 years, which was quick. From Orange's experience it took them at least 10 years to get to where they are now.
"I am so excited to be here!" Green cheered, they were so happy, first their internship gets accepted, and now they were meeting and talking to a real captain! "I want to fly a ship of my own some day!"
Red chuckles as they got of their seat, "Well, why wait?" they then gestures to the seat and control panel, "Anybody in this room want to try piloting the ship?"
Orange's visors widen at what Red just suggested. Are they insane!? They can't just suggest that, especially to the intern or anyone in fact with no flying experience. But before Orange could stop them, it was too late as White shoves Green, who was about to touch the steering wheel to the side, and place themselves in the seat and starts to drive the ship like some golf cart. Orange sucks in their breath, fighting the urge to yell at the irresponsible captain, seriously how the name of MIRA did this crewmate become captain.
They see Green at the corner of their visor, looking dejected at the fact they couldn't drive the ship, which Orange is glad it didn't happen more than this as they did not want to imagine the inexperience intern touching the control panels, let alone driving the ship. Before they could tell the contest winner to stop driving the ship, they hear the door to navigation open, turning around they see the one crewmate that they have been looking for.
"Hey, Captain, there seems to be-WOAH!" a purple crewmate with a low ponytail, wearing a security uniform, alongside a black jacket and a hat on their head, enters the room looking for the captain was shock to see someone else driving the ship, "Is the contest winner flying the ship?"
"Purple!" Red chuckles nervously, "Uh, uh, they're doing it for a very captain-ly reason, which I-I will say soon," they tried to sound confident but honestly it wasn't working. Orange sighs in relief that someone sensible walked in, they turn to Green, "This is Purple, our Head of Security,"
"Yeah, Hi," Purple waves a bit, not caring about introducing themselves as they are more focused on the fact that the contest winner is flying the ship, "Is that allowed?" they looked at Red as they pointed at the scene in front of them with both hands, "Seems kind of irresponsible," they say squinting their visors.
Red turns their back to them, pulled something out of their backpack, muttering the word 'irresponsible'. Green while not being able to see what the captain was holding, but they could've sworn it looked like a book of some kind, when they took it out.
"I mean, I don't see any reason why not," Red stammers as they turned back around to face Purple, putting whatever they pulled out back into their backpack, they chuckle weakly, "Or, uh, maybe the unpaid intern should be flying the ship?"
Orange smacks their hand on their visor, god why are they even here. Purple points at Red with a look of annoyance, "You should be flying the ship," they stated, seriously they knew Red was irresponsible but this was ridiculous.
"That doesn't sound right," Red rubbed their chin as they said that, Purple groans in annoyance, they don't have time for this, "Okay, I just came to say there seem to be a lot of security issues,"
They then pointed at the camere at the wall, "Cameras don't record, they're in black and white, and-"
"I'm sure it'll be fine, Purps," Red cuts them off, Purple narrows their visor at Red for the nickname, "We're just going to Industria," they reassure them, it's not like broken cameras were important anyway.
"Yeah, Purps we're just going to Industria," Green followed along what Red said, but yelped as they were met with a glare from Purple, who clearly didn't like the nickname. Purple turns their attention back to Red, "Well, I can't exactly do the job that you're asking me to do without the stuff-"
Before Purple could finish speaking their mind, they were cut off by a loud crash, followed by the ship shaking violently, causing them all to stumble and fall.
-'Alert. Hull breach. Comms compromised.'-
The ship's system began to alert them, Red gets up and sees an asteroid pass by with what were clearly parts of the Skeld through the window, "We've struck an asteroid!"
-'Alert. Critical systems compromised.'-
This was very bad.
White chuckles nervously, realising that they just crashed the ship and endangered everyone on it, "Oh, this kind of thing happens to me all the time," they tried to reassure the captain and themselves that it was going to be okay, "Don't worry, someone will fix it,"
"We have to fix it!" Purple insisted, as they were all literally the crew of the ship. Orange looks at the small map on one of the monitors in navigation to find where the asteroid had hit, their visor widens in horror to see that it was storage that got hit.
Cyan and Black's stationary is in storage, and they are most likely still in storage checking on the Ore+.
"The asteroid struck storage!" They yelled out to the others in the room, whose visors all widen at that fact, Orange then presses a button that activates the speakers, they grabbed the boundary microphone up close to their face as they spoke.
-"ATTENTION EVERYONE'-
-"AN ASTEROID HAS STRUCK STORAGE"-
-"LIME PLEASE HEAD DOWN TO STORAGE IMMEDIATELY TO ASSIST THE DAMAGE"-
-"CYAN AND BLACK IF YOU ARE BOTH STILL IN STORAGE PLEASE TRY AND GET OUT, IF NOT REMAIN WHERE YOU ARE"-
Once they were done with the announcement, they turned to the others, "We need to get down to storage, now," everyone nodded as the followed the HR rep, except for White who muttered something about keeping navigation safe, or something.
As the group ran downwards and right to where one of the entrance to storage was, they see Lime who was trying to get the metal door to open, "Come on, open ya' stupid piece of junk," the panel wasn't responding no matter how hard they hit the override button.
"Any luck?" Purple asks, Lime turns and shook their head no, "Damn thing is busted, we need to go to the door at admin,"
"You can't it's blocked on that side," they all turn to see Yellow and Brown who seemed out of breath, "What do you mean it's blocked?" Orange asks, Yellow catches their breath as they explained, "One of the tables came loose and crashed into the door to that hallway, when we got hit,"
"Shit, what now," Purple curses, they needed to get into to storage now to see the situation, and they all can't run over to the other side of the ship at this rate.
"Hold up I have an idea," Lime said as the pulled out their wrench and smashed the panel, to everyone's surprise and shock at what they did, it somehow worked as the door opened.
"Gah!" Lime yells as they fell on to the ground when they were suddenly pulled forward by the air, there was a huge hole on the wall which was sucking everything out. Luckily it wasn't strong enough to pull them away completely, so they quickly got up and hang on to the door frame for support, in the process they lost their wrench which got suck out into space.
"Shut the door to the Storage Room!" Purple yelled out to Black who was holding onto the handle where the control panel was, "No! We got to save the Ore+" Red pushes Purple aside, which cause them to lose their footing and allowing the air being sucked out to pull them in. Purple screams as they were sucked into storage, Yellow tried to grab them but they weren't close enough.
"I GOT YA!" Lime yelled as they managed to grab onto Purple before it was too late, however due to them now only holding onto the door frame with one hand, they grip on it eventually weakened, "OH SHIT!" Lime yells as their hand slips off from the door frame. Orange tried to grab on to them but they were too slow to react, as Lime's hand became out of reach.
By some miracle the two crashed onto one of the crates instead of being sucked into the hole. Orange, Yellow and everyone else who was on the opposite side of the door sighs in relief, that the two were safe for now.
"The emergency seals aren't working!" Black yelled as they slam their fist against the panel.
Suddenly out of nowhere, a bucket flew by and hits Yellow on the head, knocking them out and into the chaos. But before they could get too close to the hole, Brown reacted immediately and stepped into the storage room, using the crates as support, they managed to get close enough to grab their partner's hand. However they couldn't pull both of them back up due to the pull of the air getting sucked out of the hole.
At the same time, Green and Orange also get sucked into the chaos, as the HR rep fell in when their hand slipped on the door frame, causing the intern who was holding onto their backpack, to fell in as well. Luckily they were close to a crate so they managed to land safely on top of it.
"My trust ball!" Orange yelled as they watched as the rubber ball that was in their pocket, flies out and gets sucked away, however instead of being sucked out into space, it seals a small crack on the wall after it popped from the pressure.
"Orange!" they turn to the direction of where their name was called, and was surprised to find Blue hanging on the top of a crate. When did they even get there?
"Where are the rest of your trust balls?" Blue asked, still clinging on to the crate. If one trust ball was strong enough to close a small crack, then surely a large amount of it could seal the whole thing, "We can use them to seal the hole,"
"Rest of my trust balls?" Oranges visors widen at what the doctor suggested, they laugh nervously, "What are you talking about? I only had the one,"
Everyone in the room groan in annoyance, knowing damn well that there were more than one trust ball with the amount of times they tried to get rid of one. Voices started overlapping each other as they demanded to know where the other trust balls were.
"Okay, okay, they're all in that crate underneath that cloth," giving into peer pressure and also the fact their lives were in litteral danger. They pointed towards the clothed crate that says 'IMPORTANT EMERGENCY SUPPLIES'.
"Are you serious," Black and Yellow yelled at the same time, upon learning that the crate underneath the cloth was not the important emergency supplies. Orange just laughs nervously, they looked around to see if they could get closer but it wasn't possible without getting sucked into the hole, "I can't reach from my end,"
Yellow looks down and realised that they and Brown were right above where the crate was, 'What if I...' they looked up to where Blue was, "Hey Blue, if I landed onto the crate would it be enough to push it," Brown's visors widen at what their partner just said, "WHAT!?"
Blue thought for a while, it was possible but Yellow's weight wouldn't be enough judging how large the crate was from their perspective, "Theoretically, it would work but I don't think your weight is enough to tip it over,"
"What if I also landed on it," Brown added, causing Yellow to look up at them in shock, they were okay with risking their own life, but not when Brown does it too.
"Yes! With your size and weight combined with Yellow's, you should be able to tip the crate over," Blue exclaimed, Yellow decided to not judge the doctor for calling out their partner's size and weight.
"You ready Yellow?" Brown asked, as they looked at their partner, Yellow chuckles, at least their doing this with Brown, "Hell yeah baby!"
Brown lets go of the crate, allowing the two of them to fall and landing onto the cloth crate that held the rest of Orange's trust balls. And it worked as the whole crate tips over, allowing a sea of trust balls to fall out and plug the hole.
'Why the hell did they even need that many trust balls?' Yellow thought to themselves, ain't no way in hell anyone needs that many. But it doesn't matter now since those balls did save them, that was a sentence that Yellow never expected to think about.
"Ya need a hand?" Yellow looks over the crate they were sitting on, and sees Brown already back on the ground, holding up both their hands to catch them. Yellow chuckles before jumping of the crate and landing into their partner's arms.
As everyone got back on their feet, they surrounded the duo and cheered for their heroic action, "You have all done really well," Blue says, getting everyone's attention, "I'm so impressed with our teamwork today,"
"You've made me proud," as they praised, everyone smiles at each other, as they all started clapping at what Blue said.
"Well, I thought the same thing," Red spoke up as they walked out from the group and stood next to Blue, which caused everyone to stop clapping, "I-I thought the same thing, I'm the captain,so...me too," they stammered as they stood confidently next to the doctor.
"I also said that," Red chuckles weakly, trying to get some of the credit of Blue's plan, despite not doing anything. Everyone awkwardly mutters to each other, before clapping awkwardly at the captain, who doesn't notice the awkward atmosphere they just created.
"Wow, what a day," Yellow said as they took a bite out of the new pizza combo they and Brown had created, which was prosciutto, fig and Bulgreecian feta. Brown chuckles as they took a sip of their drink, "You've said it Yellow,"
Yellow looks around the room, everyone was enjoying the party that they all agreed to have to celebrate the fact that they were all not dead, they even made a banner for it.
Green and White were talking to each other over drinks at a table. Purple was leaning against the wall with a drink in hand, next to Lime who was chilling in the vents as usual, so Brown left a plate of pizza next to the vent so the latter doesn't need to come out of it. As weird as it may be for someone to spend a majority of their time in the vents.
They could see Orange talking to Red who seemed nervous, probably about what happened today, speaking of which, "Say Brown, how'd ya think we got hit by that asteroid?" Brown looks over to Yellow and shrugs, "Probably a rogue asteroid,"
Before they could speak, Black walks over to them, "Hey, have any of you losers seen Cyan?" the two cooks choose to ignore the rudeness, since it was rare for the goth crewmate to look for Cyan due to how much they push them away.
"No I haven't, have you seen them Brown?" Yellow looks over their shoulders at their partner, who thought for a while before snapping their fingers, remembering something, "They mention something about checking on the Ore+ mid preparation, so they're probably back in storage,"
"Okay thanks," Black thanks the two, then leaves them be to look for Cyan. While yes since the beginning of this trip they have been stonewalling them, pun intended, they were worried about them since the two of them were in storage when the asteroid hit. As they walked toward the door that lead down the hallway to storage, which Brown and Purple removed the table from. It opens up revealing Cyan on the other side.
"Oh, there you are-" Black pauses as they noticed how...off Cyan looked, they were trembling as they stumbled out of the hallway, their visor was wide open, like they had seen a ghost. They were also gurgling something Black couldn't hear.
"Is something wrong?" they ask confused and concerned at Cyan's odd behaviour, Cyan just stared at Black dead in the visors as their body trembled even more.

"Purgggghh..." they gurgled one last time before their throat gave out.
A loud sucking snap could be heard before Cyan's head detached from their neck, blood sprayed out from where their head and neck separated.

Black having standing so close to the now decapitated crewmate, was covered in their blood. They stood in shock as they slowly tilted their head down to stare at where Cyan's body and detached head lay in a pool of their own blood.

"Cyan...?" Black mutters weakly.
