Chapter Text
Eve’s screaming was still echoing in Xander’s head. A scream that had managed to etch itself into his mind, a scream that was still ringing in his ears . A pitch that seemed impossibly high, but it was not surprising if you take a look at the reason.
The blood, her blood, how it must have felt to look down to see her arm shot off, her bone being able to be seen out of her severed arm. Her face and clothes covered in her own blood. Just to look up and see the sniper was your brother.
Xander sighed in thought. “Oh Evie” Xander murmured. His voice rough and quiet, being the only sound in his bedroom.
If he was being honest to himself, he wanted to forgive Evelyn. And he was planning to do so. But he still felt betrayed, he trusted Evelyn, much more than most people think.
He remembered all those times where Evelyn was worried about him, reassuring him with her gentle way of speaking and her smiles, with her black lipstick she often wore, its colour clashing against her pale skin.
Xander loved her laugh, it was always something that was rare, but always lit up the room they were in, his bad mood was always lifted by her laugh.
Her voice small, as she was already behind him with a gun, pointed at his head, apologising to him.
Xander’s power , to see the future, allowed him to stop Evelyn. Her gaze apologetic and regretful, saying that Samuel threatened her life if she didn’t do it.
Xander knew how Samuel was, too well.
And,
Xander also knew Evelyn well.
If you take all this into account, it would be unfair to blame her.
Xander groaned as he stood from his bed,
“I should talk with her about this before it’s too late” he mentally notes as he makes his way to the kitchen , to pour a glass of water.
A idea came into his head. Not particularly a good one, but not a bad one either.
Should I visit her in the hospital?
The thought was so easy and basic, but it’s never that easy. It never was.
She’s probably is still recovering, and needs space, right?
Maybe she wants to see me? For comfort?
But Evelyn often isn’t really someone who would want other peoples comfort .
A freezing sensation prickling against his hand, water dripping down his hand. It pulled him out of his endless thoughts.
“Ooh?!, how’d I not notice I was pouring to much earlier??”
he took the cup and let the spilled water just sit there.
“It’ll dry eventually” he said to himself, before he even noticed he was talking to himself.
Maybe the stress was getting to him.
The freezing water flowing down his throat, it felt weird at first but refreshing.
He felt weirdly awake after.
I’ll maybe pay her a small visit. It won’t hurt, right? Just to see if she is alright, maybe I should come late so she is already asleep. She doesn’t have to know I was there.
I’ll just check if she is recovering, that’s all.
Or maybe should I come at daytime so we can talk?
He slapped his face so he could finally get his thoughts straight.
He took a deep breath, and exhaled slowly.
I’ll definitely visit. But I’m not sure if I should do so if she’s awake
