Work Text:

Not many animals wish to work at the hospital. Not with the rumors of monsters that make the hospital their home, or the threat of being eaten by anomalies, or the large workload. These factors together lead to not many hires, a understaffed hospital, and the workers being largely overworked with a single coffee machine.

So why is there a kid asking to work there? There's no perks except for terrible free coffee, and a small paycheck. While not exactly being a kid this rabbit is only twenty, which is a age where you need a job, but why a hospital? It's abnormal. However there are others at the hospital who have their own reasons for working here, so maybe the kid has a good one.

The Secretary looks up from the resume the kid handed him, not bothering to read them. "So you're here for a job?" He says, barely hidden amusement and curiosity in his tone.

"Y-yes sir! I want to work here, how can I do that? I want to do that." The kid says, going from hesitant to a seemingly fake confidence. Though his hands are shaking under the desk, his eyes looking around for help.

"Well, first you need to take this back." Secretary says, pushing the resume back across the counter towards the rabbit. "I dont handle hiring people, that would be more of Dr.Harlows job. Im the secretary, you could find Dr.Harlows office down that way, through the double doors and taking a right. However, I do need to check you in so we know who is here." Without warning he takes a picture of the rabbit, he looks between the picture and the kid for a few seconds before putting away the picture. He then turns and looks through the cameras for a second or two before returning back to the counter and putting the rabbit into the system and printing out a visitor badge and handing it over. "Here, you need this to be allowed in, just knock on the door and go in."

"Oh! Sorry, and thank you, thank you so much, I'll go do that, yea. Thanks!" The kid then turns and starts off down the hall to try and get an interview, clearly nervous with the way they walk too fast and holds their resume too tightly before smoothing it down.

-

When the kid comes out around a hour later they have a more steady smile and a new outfit that seems to have come out of nowhere along with a intern badge.

The new intern quickly ran over to the front desk, smiling happily. "I got an internship! It worked!" Intern said happily to Secretary, who was previously talking to Security.

Security raises an eyebrow, looking between Secretary and the new Intern. "So you're gonna be working here?"

"Oh! Hi! Yea Im the new intern I just got the job with Doctor, Harley? Harlow? I need to learn his name, but I just got the internship and Im gonna be an intern!" The Intern says, bouncing on the balls of their feet.

"Well, Intern, I'm the security here, when does your internship start?" Security asks with a hint of suspicion in his tone, ignoring Secretary who looks amused at Securities skepticism towards the kid.

"Well, Dr. H, yea Dr. H, told me that I could start whenever, so now?" Intern says with a hint of uncertainty in his tone, along with something that could be described as concerned, at Securities distrust.

"Right! Well then we should introduce you to the others and then they can teach you how to do your job, Intern." Secretary jumps in, pushing Security back a bit, silently telling him to calm down with a raised eyebrow directed towards him. "And I'll get you a badge, but I can use the previous picture for that, so Security is going to drop you off with Head Nurse and then come back here. Isn't that right Security?"

"Right." Security states with a annoyed look towards Secretary. Before walking out of from behind the check in desk and gesturing for Intern to follow him.

Intern looks wearily between Security and Secretary for a moment before hurrying after Security, waving at Secretary as they walk away.

-

"Hey, Head Nurse. We have an intern." Security leans against the door frame, with Intern infront of him waving shyly. Head Nurse turns around in surprise for a second before turning back to give the patient their treatment.

After the treatment is over Head Nurse walks over to them and leads them out into the hallway. "Im sorry, what? I didn't realize anybody... nevermind. Hello Intern, it's nice to meet you, I am the head nurse." Head Nurse states, looking between Security and Intern in a bit of hidden shock that she quickly ignores.

"Now that you have the kid, I'm gonna need you to introduce the Intern to everyone else, they've met me and Secretary, I've got to head back to the reception. Take care of yourself Head Nurse." He turns away and walks off, ignoring the glare from Head Nurse from blatantly ignoring Intern.

"Well Intern, I guess I'll introduce you to the others, just follow me, I'll also teach you how to take care of the patients." Head Nurse says, turning away and leading the way when Intern nods.

-

"Secretary. What the fuck was that?" Security asks the second he closes the door behind himself.

"What do you mean?" Secretary asks, a look of thinly veiled amusement on his face along with slight annoyance.

"That kid is so suspicious, no one chooses to work here. And they never stopped smiling. Thats not normal."

"Are you suspecting the kid for being an anomaly right now Security?" Secretary raises an eyebrow and crosses his arms.

"Well, no. But they're weird and Im going to be watching them okay." Security states as he sits down on the chair infront of the cameras screen, looking through them until he finds the one with Head Nurse introducing Intern to the others.

"Paranoid much?" Secretary asks as he looks over Securities shoulder.

"I'm not paranoid. I'm just making sure that I'm doing my job accurately." Security says, not bothering to look at Secretary.
