Chapter Text
It's loud in the lobby room. Not uncomfortably so, though. Cyan glances around, seeing everyone chatting before the ship takes off.
The lobby room is relatively large, with two locked sliding doors blocking two corresponding hallways that branch into the rest of the ship. They're blocked off to keep us from screwing anything up during takeoff, is what Cyan figures.
There's a circle of red velvet chairs in the middle of the room that some people are lazing around on. Cyan sat on them once, they were soft, but too firm for her liking.
Finally, in the middle of all of it, is a small pedestal with a laptop on it that everyone's crowding around. The screen displays a 79 hour long video of memes. Cyan pointedly ignores the computer, as it showed an insulting meme anime the loves.
Making a hasty decision, more to get away from the laptop other than want for social interaction, she saunters over to Blue, who's also tucked into a corner like an introvert.
"Wonderin' when it's gonna take off?" Blue asks before she can even make the first move. Blue looks oddly unexcited, looking more...Guilty, when he was spacing out earlier.
"Of course! Isn't everyone? Its been forever!" Cyan answers positively, not even giving Blue a chance to continue. "I want to help the rest of humanity! Frankly, I'm still shocked that I was chosen in the first place."
As Cyan yaps more about how she's ecstatic to begin the journey to P - 1879 - 2, Blue listens, plastering on his classic, unbothered smile.
The knife is heavy in his back pocket, cold against the heat of his spacesuit. Blue knows what he is meant to do when the ship lifts off into space to begin the year - long journey to the recently discovered planet. It disturbs him a little bit, but he has to do it for his country.
The world isn't seperated into continents anymore. Instead, it's simply one land mass divided by countries. Every country sent their best astronaut on this mission to inhabit a recently found planet in the goldilocks zone.
"So what tasks are you going to do first?" Cyan's question jolts Blue back into the present.
"Electrical, probably. I'm a techy guy," Blue responds, keeping the mood light.
Don't get too close to her, his mind warns. You're going to eliminate her, just like everyone else. For your country.
"Electrical? You can do my wires for me, I'm practically colorblind!" Cyan jokes, still smiling. "Technically, I should be wearing glasses right now, but they wouldn't fit under my visor."
Cyan giggles, then lets out a little screech as the ship suddenly lurches sideways, tripping her into Blue's arms.
Blue stiffens automatically. In his country, it's a kill or be killed world. Nobody touches anyone unless it's to backstab them. After accepting that Cyan could not hurt him, he finally relaxes, and helps her up.
Everyone around them are in the same general situation, sliding around the ship as it rocks.
Suddenly, the ship lifts into the air. The pressure and force of it shooting up so fast as it did pushed everyone to the ground.
It stays like this for about 30 seconds before the force randomly lets off, allowing everyone to get up and walk around the ship freely. The sliding doors open, allowing access from the original lobby to the rest of the ship.
"Wow!" Cyan gets up, someone even more chipper than before. "That was so cool! I wonder how much force had to be applied for that effect to take place-But nows not the time to be a scientist!"
Blue files that away for later use. Cyan, a scientist. Very useful information there.
Without warning, the staticy intercom crackles to life all throughout the ship. "Attention, all passengers," The voice announces. "We have recieved unfortunate information that an imposter has boarded the ship with the goal off eliminating all passengers."
Blue inwardly swears. His country snitched on him to save their own scrawny skins. He'll just have to succeed to show them that he's good enough, now.
"Please, for your own safety, eject the imposter as soon as possible. Thank you,"
