A New Germa is a fic inspired by the song “A New Argentina” from Avita and the musical “Newsies”
A New Germa takes place in a universe where Sanji never escaped Germa, and Judge, after 2-3 years, took him out of the dungeon and forced him into being Stealth Black.
Years later, when all the siblings are adults, Judge dies, and the country is faced with a question.
Who will be the new ruler of the Germa Kingdom?
Ichiji?
Or Reiju?
This splits the country into two factions, “New Germa” headed by Reiju and Sanji, and “Old Germa” headed by the Vinsmoke brothers.
Sanji sets out on a propaganda campaign in favor of Reiju, alongside an old friend of his.
That being Cosette.
(Cosette still gets scarred by Niji in this au, but with a different context)
Sanji and Cosette act as Reiju’s Voice to the People.
Cosette is the Voice to the People, more specifically the workers.
She writes all of the speeches.
Judge and the Vinsmoke brothers scarred and hurt many people, Cosette’s job is to give them strength and bravery to go against them and choose the “right option”
Sanji is the Voice to the People as the favored prince, as because of his emotions and lack of cruelty, he is more popular than Reiju and technically the 3rd option of Ruler.
Sanji and Cosette will do anything to make sure Reiju wins and makes Germa a better place.
Fearmongering, propaganda, strategic and “necessary sacrifices", nothing is off the table for them.
Meanwhile, Reiju never asked them to do any of that, and also never asked to be the Ruler in the first place.
She believes that she is the lesser of two evils in this scenario, and thinks that Sanji, and by extension Cosette, are blinded by hero-worship towards her.
She doesn’t want to be the Ruler, but knows that she must, if not for her nation, then at least for her little brother.
With the Vinsmoke brothers, Ichiji and Yonji are having an internal feud over what they should do in response to the New Germa propaganda.
Instead of entertaining that, Niji begins to slowly isolate himself from his brothers, not truly understanding why.
(I think Niji is neat, so he gets character development or something like that)
The third faction is a group of three newsies, sent by Big News Morgan to report on the goings on in the Kingdom.
What Morgan didn’t know was that one of his newsies was originally from Germa, and she is not going to be as impartial in reporting as he’d like.
Notes:
Sanji still has his emotions, Judge modified the Stealth Black suit to incorporate the bomb cuffs from WCI to make sure he follows orders.
Sanji also wears the Stealth Black suit when he goes out, as a show of strength for the New Germa side and because, absurdly, it makes him feel safe.
Cosette has a face scar similar to Sabo’s, but on the other side.
Cosette dyed her hair brown to distance herself from the person she was before, she is stronger now (or she likes to think she is).
As soon as Judge died, Reiju modified her Raid Suit so she didn’t have that awful neckline, looking more modest and regal.
Judge surprisingly died of natural causes, Reiju was kind of mad that she couldn’t be the one to do him in.
Niji doesn’t wear his goggles anymore, even though he is basically blind without them.
The name of the newsies are; Lavinia (real name: Camille, she changed her name after running away from Germa), the reporter, Marlowe, the camera/photo den-den guy, and Louella, a young girl with the Dog-Dog Fruit Model: Bloodhound and nose for the truth.
