Chapter Text
It was raining.
Mituba had been caught in the rain, and he was soaking wet.
He had went out grocery shopping for his mom, and his flip phone had died on the way back. He was currently hiding his grocery bags under his sweater, and his socks were beginning to get soggy.
He was walking towards a bus stop, and guess who was there,
In a yellow raincoat and holding an umbrella
"Mitsuba?!" Kou exclaimed.
"Oh, hey stupid earring boy."
"Mitsuba, your soaking wet. You should sit down for a minute" kou said, he looked worried.
“Ok, ok, fine” Mitsuba sat down and started trying to dry himself off.
“So, uh, why were you walking around in the rain?” Kou asked.
“Oh, like you wanna know” Mitsuba hesitated “I was getting groceries for my mom” he admitted.
“Thats really nice of you!” Kou smiled his stupid grin.
Mitsuba felt kind of weird, like a butterfly was in his chest.
“Yeah, yeah I’m A nice person.”
They sat and watched the rain for a few minutes. Kou stood up and started taking off his coat
“Here, take my coat.”
Kou held his coat out to Mitsuba.
“N-no, i mean- I don’t need your stupid coat idiot”
Kou hung the hood of the coat on Mitsuba’s head. “I don’t need it anyway, I have this” he gestured to his umbrella.
“…fine, whatever, stupid earring boy.”
Kou smiled at Mitsuba, and it radiated like the sun.
Mitsuba’s stomach felt all fluttery, and his chest felt warm.
“I-i have to go know, I’ll see you- I mean I’ll return the coat tomorrow.”
“Oh- uh bye!” Kou replied and waved as Mitsuba quickly walked off.
The coat still smelled like him.
When mitsuba got home, his mother was in the middle of nervously cooking dinner.
“Hey mom, I’m home-“
“OH MY BABY! IM SO GLAD YOUR OK”
his mom ran over an hugged him.
“Mom, I’m ok, I just got caught in the rain and my phone died.”
“Ok ok, I’ll calm down, but please go take a shower so you don’t catch a cold”
“Of course, mom”
Mitsuba put down the bags of groceries on the counter and went to take a shower.
After Mitsuba ate dinner, he sat on the balcony of his apartment and watched the rain.
Kou’s smile…..
“Oh-SHUT UP BRAIN!!” He yelled to himself and pulled at his hair.
“….I hate his stupid face” he mumbled, resting his head on the railing.
Mitsuba felt all fuzzy inside.
The next morning Mitsuba woke up late. His eyes opened slowly to the sound of his alarm going off, it had been for 20 minutes. He sat up immediately
“SHIT SHIT SHIT” he got up and quickly slid on his school uniform and his favorite pink sweater, and grabbed kou’s coat and his bag.
“Bye mom!”
“Wait, take a piece of toast!”
Mitsuba slid the toast in his mouth and rushed to school
He walked into school clutching his things to his chest.
Kou was hanging out with his friends. Great.
Mitsuba didn’t really do socializing. Pretty much his only friend had been kou, since middle school. He didn’t know kou’s friends very well either, he only knew one of them was a senpai named yashiro, because he called her legs radishes once.
Kou noticed him and waved him over.
“Hey Mitsuba! Over here!” He said with His stupid annoyingly perfect face.
“Uh…hey” Mitsuba greeted shyly
They all waved and greeted him back.
“This is yokoo, satou, yugi, and yashiro!”
Mitsuba shoved kou’s raincoat into his arms.
“Uh, here, from yesterday.”
“Oh! Thanks Mitsuba!”
He opened his locker and hung his coat inside.
Mitsuba picked at his nails while standing near kou. He was socially awkward and didn’t want to make a bad first impression, or come off as annoying or rude.
“So-“ the yugi brother started, then the bell rang.
“Oh crap! We’re late for class!” The female senpai exclaimed.
“Bye minamoto-kun! Bye Mitsuba-kun!” Yugi shouted as he ran after yashiro
“I’m gonna walk Mitsuba to class, see ya later guys!” Kou told the two boys still standing with us.
“Bye kou”
Yokoo and satou said in unison, and satou waved.
Mitsuba and kou walked and talked as they headed to class.
“I took some pictures yesterday, if you wanna see later. Or whatever.”
“Woah, Really?? You never let me see your pictures!” The blonde exclaimed
“Well, we’re friends and all.” Mitsuba mumbled, getting slightly flustered.
“are you going soft on me, Mitsuba?” Kou teased
“Shut up stupid Earring! you pervert!”
“Whatever girly face.”
“You love my girly face, you know it!”
“N-no i don’t!”
“Yes you do!”
“No I don’t!”
“Yes!”
“No!”
They went on like that until they got to class.
