Chapter Text
They stirred awake in their captain's chair, startled after not remembering having fallen asleep. They readjusted their hat after it and had slipped off, and regained control of their surroundings. With a deep breath, they were ready to take on the responsibilities of any good captain! Piloting the ship, supporting their crewmates, and a third thing too! But... Well something wasn't right. Did the diagrams always make no sense? Were they always wearing... Crocs...? What? No. No, they weren't a captain at all, why were they...?
Green was not in their body.
They were in Red's. They could've mistaken themselves for being painted the wrong color for a moment until they saw the scars on "their" hand. No matter how strange it sounded, they were really in Red's body. Which meant that, logically, Red was probably in theirs, or, somewhere else entirely? To be fair, Green hadn't fully occupied their own body in a while, it was mostly an alien symbiote. There was no logic in either situation, so logically, there was no point in trying to apply logic. Though, they felt they should find Red—or Green—or their body—or— This was going to get confusing fast. They should find "Green" and try to figure out what was going on.
It seemed like it was worrying them less than it should, but in retrospect worse things had happened to them. Green hadn't been alone for a long time, it was kind of refreshing. They began to think that maybe this was a blessing in disguise, maybe, even if it was incredibly weird, it was a break from constantly resisting bloodlust.
But then they saw their body. They were frantic, trying desperately to appear normal and failing, they seemed like they were talking to themselves, but they hadn't said a thing. It was bizarre to see from an outside view. Suddenly, they noticed the "Captain". They straightened their posture, "Oh, uh, Red- how's- how are you doing? Is there any... intern thing... you need me to do..??" It was weird hearing their voice speak without them, but not entirely unfamiliar. Unlike their parasite however, this "Green" was, EXCEPTIONALLY, bad at being Green. It was pretty weird, if this was the real Red, why would they pretend to be Green? "Uhh, I don't... I don't think so..." They were going to bring up the whole situation, but their impersonator spoke first, "Good! Good, that's, uh, that's great even. Hey, um, where's- do you know where... Purple is?" Wait, what? So, either Red is being really weird right now, or this is... Purple looking for their own body? Or someone else entirely?? Okay, clearly pretending wasn't helping anyone right now. Well, it helped gather information on who was controlling their body but- no! No more misconceptions with someone clearly in the same situation!
Captain Green looked around for anyone passing by, it just felt better to not drag anyone else into it that didn't need to be apart of it, so they whispered. "It's me, Green! I'm not really Red! Where in the worm are they if you aren't them?"
"Green" sighed in relief, "There you are! I'm Purple, I have no clue where the real Red is! It has been impossible being you, especially with the..." They hesitated. "...Doesn't matter, do you think that this means that Red is me..? Eurgh, nothing makes any sense!! How did this even happen?!"
"Maybe Red will know what happened..?" Green suggested uncertainly, fixing their stolen hat again. "Our main goal should be finding my body right now, if Red really is in there then I'm not sure i trust them not to break my bone." They crossed their hands as they spoke, looking away bitterly. Purple turned and waved over their shoulder, "Let's go find out."
