Chapter 1: Morte Tactus

Chapter Text

You’d think after so many drinks, you’d still retain the sense not to do anything morbidly stupid.
You felt numb…worse than usual. You had just left your local bar, wanting one last drink for the night.

You had no ride, you had no money on you to pay for one either, so you decided to walk. You didn’t want to head home yet though, so you explored what you could of your current area.

As you walked, you started to think about some things. Your friends, if you could call them that anymore, had all became successful. They decided to cut you off, not wanting to be associated with a dropout.

You didn’t have a job, how could you even get one? You dropped out of college because you didn’t find any interest in a major. How indecisive of you.

Atleast you weren’t homeless, so to say. You lived in an RV, your parents kicked you out after the first three years of unemployment. You couldn’t really blame them for that though.

You rarely went out anymore, and when you did, you were drunk while doing so. Your movements were sluggish, the weight of alcohol a curse upon your body.

As you walked, you noticed a pathway leading into a forest. That wasn’t there before…if you remembered correctly. Who knows, your brain wasn’t working at its full capacity as of now.

You walked onto the path, seeing its winding track through the dense fauna.

Breathing through your nose, a plume of steam swirled infront of you. You shivered. It was already getting cold? Shoving your hands into your jacket pockets, you continued walking.

Your birthday was in a week, you will definitely be alone again. You scowled.

You disappointed so many people, making them distance themselves from you. No one would notice or care if you just…

Looking up, you spotted a bridge a little further up the path. Once you reached it, you looked down. The bridge overlooked a large, rushing river. It probably lead to the ocean.

Maybe…

You climbed onto the railing, sitting ontop of it. You thought back to your earlier words.

Nobody would notice…

Nobody would care…

It was late at night, too dark for anyone to see. The forest seemed empty of any people, except you.

You cradled your own body, looking down at the rushing currents.

There’s no future for you, not anymore.

You rocked your body…once…twice…thrice…

You tipped, allowing your body to fall into the waters.

Coldness welcomed you, your body hitting the river with a loud splash.

Water rushed into your lungs as the last bits of oxygen left, just measly bubbles floating up to the surface.

You tumbled through the currents, your limbs hitting rocks on the way. You didn’t mind the pain, not anymore.

After a few more tosses and turns, your head hit a rock with a sharp crack.

Your mind felt like static, becoming a swirl of blurred lines and fuzzy lighting.

With your consciousness fading in and out, you looked back up at the sky one last time.

There’s moon was beautiful, pale white in all it’s glory. It’s light spreading out in sharp lines as your eyes struggled to focus.

You smiled to yourself, just as you fading back out of consciousness.
