Work Text:
Tommy ran up the steps screaming at the top of his lungs, He slammed the door to his brothers room open, “WILBUR! WILBUR! GUESS WHAT I-!”
“TOMMY JUST SHUT UP I'M BUSY!” Wilbur yelled back from his desk
“Oh okay, bye…”
He walked down to see his father, “Dad! Guess what I just-!”
“Tommy, I'm on the phone.” Phil said with an unimpressed look
“Oh, umm okay.”
Tommy ran back up the stairs to see if Techno was in his room and found his eldest brother asleep, “Techno, guess what!” he whispered, Techno grunted then turned over to peer at his seven year old brother's toothy smile.
“What did you find, Tommy?” He asked, reaching past his head to turn the bedside lamp on.
“I found out that Mommy went to heaven.” he grinned.
Techno's face scrunched, “Yeah, she did, what's exciting about that?”
“I’ll get to see her someday, she’s not gone forever!”
Techno’s face softened, “Yeah, Tommy but that day is far away…”
And that's what he remembered telling Tommy, but Techno was wrong the day was anything but far. Now he was sitting in the middle of the road holding his little brother's limp and bleeding body, yelling for Phil and Wilbur. The car didn't even stop, he was just trying to go get flowers at the park for Techno, that was the last thing he choked out before going unconscious. If Phil was paying attention Tommy would be okay, If Wilbur put his headphones down for just five seconds Tommy would be okay, But now he was here and now it’s not that far, now Tommy is gone.
