Chapter Text
This all started when White won this stupid competition. Was it rigged? Perhaps. Did they enjoy the time they spent on the ship? No, of course not. It was boring as hell. Did the ship decide to kill them because they kept insulting it? White leaned against a wall in storage, or at least attempted to. The best they could get was leaning slightly back so they wouldn’t go through the cold surface.
“Being a ghost is stupid. Dying is stupid. Why did my parents allow me to go on this trip?” Because they don’t care about me, they hate, hate me! White smacked their head against the wall and flung themselves into admin.
It was silent in the admin room. Then again, everyone was obsessing over White being dead in the cafeteria.
Suppose I deserve that. White pretended to sit on the table. Stupid worm kisser. How dare they kill me! I was just trying to enjoy my wine in peace. Then they just had to wander over and split me in half like a fucking kit-kat!
Left me alone to suffer. Made me walk to the cafeteria in pain and agony. I should kill them when I have the chance. Maybe they meet some ghost worms and kiss them… or something. God, this plan sucks!
“White?
“It’s the contest winner! I told you someone would join us eventually, Green!”
Green. How can they see me? And is that… Orange with them?
“White?” Green’s voice seemed closer. “Everything alright?”

The tour that Orange was conducting finally reached the admin room. Well Green couldn’t be complaining actually. This was the second stop after all.
“Didn’t the geologists sound so cool?!” Orange suddenly said, stopping near the camera. Green still wondered who saw through those. Guess I’ll find out eventually.
The three stepped inside the room, White staggering behind the other two. Inside was a light pink bean. Looked like a rosy pink color.
Green heard a faint running sound, becoming louder and louder as milliseconds passed. Another bean ran past Orange and leapt onto the light pink bean in the admin room.
“My god born damsel! Did er these dang monsters hurt you? Don’t worre my wonderful damsel-in-distress, I will-“
“Maroon! These are Green and White! Green, White, this is Maroon, they’ll be working around the place. Still won’t tell us their job!” Orange interrupted in a cheery voice.
Maroon leapt onto the ground, scoffing. “Why I dang told y’all my job is cowboy.” Maroon spoke with a deep country accent, like one of those cowtheys in the old western movies Green’s parents liked to see.
White pointed at the bean next to Maroon. The light pink one. “Who’s that?”
Orange’s visor seemed to glow with excitement. “I’m sure you’ll like this one, White! This is our other contest winner! Their name is-“
“Rosé. My name is Rosé. Not Rose. Rosé.” The bean, Rosé, scoffed, leaning on the admin table. “And my job is to keep track of where everyone is so no one gets lost or hurt.”
The cowthey next to Rosé nodded. “Gave them themselves a job to feel useful, buncha bull if you ask me.”
The worm farmer stepped closer to the two new beans. “Nice to meet you! I’m Green, I come from a worm farm. I’m the new intern!”
Rosé crossed their arms, tilting towards Green. “Let me guess, unpaid? MIRA HQ never pays their interns, I would know.”
“Why? Were you an unpaid intern as well? But I thought you were a-“
Orange pulled Green out of admin. “Come now, Green! We don’t want to insult the other contest winner by calling them unpaid!” Orange turned to look inside admin. “White! Come, let’s go to the next location! We have a bunch of other friends for you to meet!”
White was talking to Rosé, mumbling and constantly interrupting each other. The capitalist turned to look at Orange, an annoyed look on their face. “Fine. I’ll come chat with you later, Rosé. Here’s my card if you want to continue our conversation over call.”
And with that the three went around the ship. They visited the reactor, meeting Lime. Didn’t see Purple at security so they had to move on to Blue.
Blue was the most gorgeous bean Green had ever seen. Well maybe White and Orange were a bit prettier. But wow. Orange seemed to definitely agree, they seemed to be heads over heels for the doctor. White hid their feelings better but Green could see them blushing.
After they got over Blue, they visited the cafeteria. The chefs were certainly… in love? Green doesn’t exactly know their relationship quite yet.
And then Orange dragged them to see the captain. When Green first saw Red, it was like all their dreams came rushing into them all at once. But it was ruined when White sat in the captain’s seat. They flew the ship and crashed.
If I took the wheel for a second, would things be different?
Running into storage was the last thing Green remembered before they saw their body. It looked like Orange and them were trying to protect each other at the same time. Orange’s ghost hovered next to them, staring at their dead body through their visor. All of a sudden, the two bodies stood up. Beneath them, the ore cracked open. Things that resemble slime slithered out of the ore, leaving a faint salmon residue as they wandered around the crate.
Green’s body walked out of the ore+ crate, acting like everything was normal. Orange soon followed. The two ghosts were left alone in storage as their crew went to the cafeteria. Rosé stayed back, looking at the crate where Green and Orange died. Somebody, most likely Maroon, called out to them and Rosé also left.

When White stumbled into the cafeteria, silence rang through the entire ship. Rosé just silently stared as White’s upper half fell to the ground.
Before White splattered the floor with their blood, it was noisy. Too noisy for Rosé. Maroon was happily chatting with Blue and Black. Lime was eating pizza in the vent next to them. Red and Green were talking rather loudly. They were annoying. Yellow, Brown, and Cyan seemed to be having the time of their lives. Cyan was talking about star signs or something. Orange was staring into space, too close to Rosé for their comfort. Purple was doing something in the opposite corner.
Orange stepped backwards, almost bumping into Rosé. The light pink bean began to speak when White walked into the cafeteria. All chatter stopped and everyone stared at White.
When they split in half, it was chaos. All Rosé heard were screams. Cyan was trying to clean the blood from the sign above their table. Green stared at White’s body, a strange apathetic look on their visor. Orange turned around to look at all the blood. For once in their life, they were actually silent.

White’s ghost stared down at the mess in the cafeteria. There was blood everywhere.
Maroon was running towards Rosé. Orange was shaking, possibly from silent laughter. Green was staring at the blood. Red was covering Purple’s visor while Purple was trying to push the captain away. Yellow and Brown held hands as they looked at the blood. Cyan sat at a table, probably crying. Black was shaking like Orange, but this time from fear. Blue was rigid from fear. Lime was in their vent doing who knows what.
Green’s ghost was next to White, attempting to rest on them without phasing through them. Orange was holding White’s hand, trying to comfort them.
Their impostor selves are good at pretending, I must say… That means they’ll just prove more of a challenge… Fuck!
