Chapter 1: End of the beginning

Chapter Text

From the day Miyako saw an idol group performing on TV, she fell in love. She couldn’t even believe it. The idols made everything look so easy.

Seeing them all dance and sing with happiness on their faces made Miyako want to be an idol, too. She wanted to look as happy as them.

Even though it looked easy through the screen, she wasn’t ready for how the industry chewed her up until she was unrecognizable.

——-

On her sixth birthday, she begged her parents to put her into dance and singing lessons. She expected them to immediately say yes, like they always had.

Instead, they laughed not believing in her questioning if she truly wanted it. Fear filled her. She didn’t want to lose her chance at becoming an idol just because her parents didn’t believe in her.

Eventually, with enough convincing her parents caved in and decided to allow her into lessons.

——-

As Miyako grew older, she got better with dance and singing. While she wasn’t the best, she was better than before.

While she was scrolling on her phone, she came across a message from three of the big idol companies.

They were hosting a competition to see if they would become one of sixty to join one of the the big threes new trainees. She couldn't believe it; this was all a dream come true.

As she scanned the image, she realized her age was the youngest allowed. It also appeared that they were hosting in Japan.

She was so excited she quickly sent the message to her friends, who also were interested in joining the industry, before rushing out of the room to show her mom.

As she was blabbering to her mom about it her mom stopped her from continuing and asked her how she would be able to participate and pay for this, as she was still In school and possessed no money to her name.

Miyako mentioned that it was completely free and took place over the summer.

Like usual, after some convincing her mother caved and allowed her to participate over the summer. As Miyako went back to her room she heard her mother mutter, “it’s not like they would ever want you”

At her mothers words, all she wanted was to prove her wrong and show her that she could become an idol with or without her support.
