The cool wind contrasted the warm sunset and Zane's warmer face, Zane and Nana were watching it from the roof of the building they, and their friends, had been staying in while here at starlight, enjoying one of the few moments they got truly alone together, while Zane's focus was latched on the breathtaking sight before him, that didn't mean that sight was the sunset, while Nana was actually watching, her mind was elsewhere and her hands fidgeted, she wasn't used to having her wrists exposed, even in a swimsuit like this, the bandages only hiding the newest cuts, but she trusts Zane, he'd proven to her that she could.
Nana's nails gently picked at the bandages adorning her exposed wrists, blood was soaking through a couple, Zane made a mental note to change those for her before bed, and her chest heaved as she wept, the sight made Zane's chest both tighten and flutter at once, the woman he was falling in love with more and more each day finally, finally trusted Zane enough to stop pretending she was happy when it was just the two of them, tears rolled down her cheeks, dragging her makeup with them and shining with the gold of her eyes and the sunset from the second they appeared to the last moments before they dried up, the stunning mefwa's rosy hair fell messily down her forehead, messily framed her rosy cheeks, and messily draped over her shoulders then down her back.
The girl's golden tears left her golden eyes and trailed down her rosy cheeks to her rosy hair, bringing the light of the golden sunset with them, it was a painting, painted with the most agonizingly beautiful blood, sweat, and tears. Before Zane noticed, the painted sunset had melted into a sea of stars and darkness, and the angel beside him met his gaze, her golden eyes brightening his own mismatched ones, and she noticed that the stars on his cheeks matched those in the sky, her pitch black ears perking up at that.
Her eyes meeting his only warming his already warm face infinitely further, Zane's hands moved to his face as he looked away as if to adjust his mask that he'd forgotten he wasn't wearing, before improvising and just using his hands themselves to cover his face,
"What?" her angelic voice crackled with the pain her tears had shown off so gracefully just a minute prior, her lips free from the smile she insisted on keeping plastered on her face despite it never quite reaching her eyes, her incredible golden eyes. "Nothing." Zane insisted, despite both of them knowing that it was a bold-faced lie.
"Sorry, I know I look rough right now." The once chipper and excitable woman's voice had sunken to the depths of her aching chest, "You're beautiful." Zane's voice shocked both of them, but he continued nonetheless, "You're beautiful in a way that I don't have words to describe," his pale star coated hands ran through his pitch black hair, revealing a pale, blind eye that shone like the moon itself, though he'd never see that for himself, "You make me feel feelings I've never felt, ones I don't know how to describe because I've never had a reason to figure it out, not before you, before you started opening up to me I genuinely thought I'd never learn how to love, you've proven me so wrong and I'm so thankful that you did."
Her eyes had never lit up so bright, Zane was convinced the sun decided to come back out with how bright they were. Nana choked out a sob before tackling the man, and Zane, in return, gripped her like his life depended on it, like if he let go she'd vanish into thin air, yet he let her pull back, surprised when he realized she did so to kiss him, her tear dampened lips and his bitten, bloody ones joined, the metal of Zane's piercings not bothering her, though he'd never believe it if she said so.
A long moment passed, neither were sure just how long, because it felt like an eternity and a fraction of a second at the same time, both too long and too short, and they both wished it'd last forever, but they knew they could never be that lucky, as their lips separated their rosy cheeks matched and her pitch black tail swayed softly as she ran her fingers through his pitch black hair, her golden eyes lit up his pale eye like the sun lights up the moon, and the two wordlessly leaned their heads together, eyes closing and breaths syncing, in a warm moment that's only sound was the cool breeze that surrounded them.
"You two up here?" a familiar, distinctly British, voice chimed from a little ways away, "Yeah, why?" Zane sounded back, miffed the moment was interrupted by his idiot brother, "The lot of us are gonna watch a movie, both mum and Aphmau requested for you two lovebirds to join us, c'mon." Garroth explained before disappearing back downstairs.
Zane grumbled, pulling his mask from his pocket and adorning it before standing, offering his hand to Nana, which she took after re-hiding her wrists with the stripey sleeves she had for when her tops own sleeves didn't fully cover her scars, and while everyone already knew Zane's wrists resembled barcodes, he too chose to unfold his sleeves before joining the group, Nana pecking him once over the mask just before their time alone together truly ended for the night.
