Chapter Text
Go right
Jeez, whatever has got my Peter tingle going is really setting it off. Must be important, I should hurry.
With one final swing he lands silently on a light post for an old abandoned warehouse, lights flickering, mysterious stains on the walls, very homey.
Holy smokes was this place crawling with agents, two located at the east entrance, one with a clipboard checking different pallets, a forklift driver, and general security around the building. I should do this quietly.
First things first, I take out the one in the corner on his smoke break, smoking kills ya know. Next, I web zip two guards into one another before yanking them upwards towards the ledge of the building and seal them in a cocoon of webs. I web the radio next to the truck to get the forklift drivers attention, the moment he gets out, I’m swing kicking him into the closest wall and webbing him to it. Last but not least the two guards, one of which went inside while I was dealing with the others, I’ll have to deal with him later.
The center of attention for Peter though is the moving truck located right outside the loading bay gate. His spider sense is screaming simply “Open.” Having not felt a tingle this strong in a while he let it take the forefront, feet moving before even processing what he was doing, shooting a web pellet at an empty barrel in the corner about 10 yards out, “Jerry that you?” Tom says while unholstering his weapon and stalking towards the source of the noise. All without his eyes ever leaving the truck he shoots an impact web at the guard sticking him to the barrel that got his attention in the first place.
The constant hum of his peter tingle has increased tenfold the closer he gets to the truck the more powerful it is. Not danger per se, just importance. As the guards body hits the barrel he swings open the latch while assuming an action ready stance. Only to have his eyes wide and jaw drop. A dozen or possibly more kids, with inhibitor collars on them.
Dear god… his voice barely above a whisper that even Daredevil would have trouble hearing.
“Spider-Man!!” one kid shouts, fresh tears beginning to form this time from relief of being found.
That being the kickstart he needed he started ushering the kids out of the truck, “Don’t worry, I’m going to get you guys out of this, just stay calm and – *UP* feet once again moving before his body caught up, he leaps into the air only to use his hands to push up off of the moving trucks roof/trunk. Whilst leaping up and over, he sees a red blob charging through where he was just standing. So much so that they are leaving cracks in the cement they are running so hard.
Pure instinct taking over from years against the rhino, he fires a web line onto its feet only for it to snap, which was shocking, that same webbing had held together helicopters, Wilson Fisk, even entire buildings, what exactly is this guy made of?
Landing onto the edge across from the truck, the behemoth came into view and so Peter began to take note, almost 10 feet tall, muscle that looked like it was chiseled onto marble, (So not fair) and he wore a giant red helmet of sorts that had more dings, and scratches than one could count. Not being able to help himself he shouts
“You know if you wanted an autograph all you had to do was ask right? I’ve actually been practicing it quite a bit recen-“ His spider sense roared move. Shouting directions like it was a video game cheat code.
Leaping off the edge he twists his body at unusual angles seemingly avoiding the wait a minute, is that a SHURIKEN? He’ll have to comment on that in a minute but first focus on not getting sliced open like a fish at the deli. Finally narrowly avoiding the last and what felt like umpteenth ninja star thankfully only one of which cut his new suit, still annoying though. I mean its almost like this guy KNOWS I just got it from the cleaners. He lands on top of the truck filled with the collared children. All of which had once again gone silent with horror.
Immediately after going into autopilot and landing in his “superhero pose” which in all honesty, took him longer to perfect than he’d care to admit. He straightens out his posture as much as he can in the pose and shouts towards now two unidentified enemies,
“Settle down, you’ll all get your chance to win a free cruise *to Alcatraz*” he whispers the last part to himself, smirking underneath the mask.
Both villains stay silent as they wait for the spiders next move.
“I hate to be that guy but I think we are going to need to do some icebreakers for the class, just so I can remember you guys a bit better, I meet a lot of C tier villains, big red let me guess, youuuuuu got bit by Clifford the big red dog?” Now is it smart to be pissing off someone you have no information on in the slightest, absolutely not, buuuuut in this case his entire plan that he made up about 0.7 seconds ago rides on the fact that he needs to get this guy mildly upset.
“I’M GOING TO RIP YOU IN HALF BUG!!!” Veins practically bulging out from underneath his… helmet? Metal fish bowl? JB Weld gone wrong? Doesn’t matter, step one, check.
Eyes on ninja guy… wait where did ninja guy go? The sound of the latch locking in place and engine cranking over tells me everything I need to know, as I start running to the right drawing red big foot away from the truck full of kids, webbing his face and jumping up and over again, hopefully this works enough to get him just slightly more annoyed with me. Whilst in mid-air and his opponents vision obstructed he furiously webs the entrance to the loading dock which just so happens to be exactly where red rhino’s headed. Landing silently on both feet his eyes now lock onto his next target as he can tell through his spider sense that the one exit is now filled with debris.
The ninja in red robes gets out of the truck calmly stating in his almost soothing Japanese accent, “You merely are an inconvenience, a speed bump that I am here to remove. Leave now, or die at the hands of Nobu.” Already knowing my answer he begins to bend his knees ever so slightly while reaching behind his back.
“Jeez, is that how I sound when I talk about myself in the third person? Yikes. Anyway, I don’t know if it’s the red and blue costume talking but something about human trafficking really doesn’t sit well with me.” I say dropping into my own stance.
“They are NOT human, they are merely objects that will serve as a catalyst to shaping the new world. One with order, one without YOU! “ Upon shouting the last word he reveals a scythe connected to a chain that rattles far too much for my liking. Huh, I wonder if Ghost Rider likes his chains rattly? I’ll have to ask him after I’m done kicking “Nobu’s” ass.
Swiftly dodging his slices and kicks, I ask “you sure you want to do this after seeing what I did to your friend over there?” Merely trying to grab some information out of him, that’s the nice part about quipping, everyone seems to lose sight of the real goal, “Kick names, take ass” -That girl whose name I can’t remember.
“Juggernaut?” *slice, dodge, jab “please, that thing is no better than those mutants in the back of the truck.” Mutants huh, that’s new, unfortunately if my peter tingle is anything to go by the interrogation is coming to a close.
Rubble shifts behind them as a loud roar echoes throughout the lot.
“Thank you for your cooperation, and if wouldn’t mind leaving me a review once we’re done that’d be sublime.” Catching his Kusarigama with his palms, he snaps it in half, yanking nobu forward and attaching a web grenade to his robe, Nobu’s eyes widen with realization as Juggernaut stampedes towards them. “NO WAIT ST-“ Juggernauts mild temper tantrum caused him not to care what or who he had to run over to get to his goal of squashing the bug. Unfortunately for him, that obstacle thoroughly covered him in even more of the disgustingly sticky webs, and with one more thwip Spider-Man had lifted them upside down left them hanging from the ledge on which he first landed upon.
As Peter opens up the door Nobu warns, you let those things free, and you will create enemies far beyond your capabilities. Spider-Man turns just his head around leering back at him, only for one lens to shift larger than the other. “Ya know, if I had a nickel for every time a red ninja threatened me while hanging upside down stuck in my webs. I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but its weird it happened twice right?” Grinning underneath his mask at face of Nobu looking as if steam was coming out of his ears.
Opening up the truck one more time he confirms all the kids he first saw were still there, just as he was about to snap the collars off the door behind him swings open, swiftly turning around he sees what he assumes to be Jerry the first goon mentioned because he’s carrying 3 unmarked boxes, stops mid apple bite and looks at the current scene in front of him. His coworker George webbed to a barrel, a chunk of debris falling from the entrance sign that Juggernaut took down, the two higher ups in charge of the mission tied together upside down growling at one another for it being the others fault. Last but not least, a Spider-Man with nothing but a couple of cuts and scrapes while looking over his left shoulder at him with narrowed pure white eyes (if you can even call the that). With all of this information thrown at him at once he makes the easiest decision of his life.
Dropping the boxes carelessly and finishing his apple bite, he announces “I don’t get paid enough to deal with this. I quit.” The only other sound coming from that interaction was the doors hinges in need of WD 40 squeaking shut.
Peter’s eyes widen ever so slightly and exhales sharply though his nose, “well that went better than expected. Why cant they all be like that?”
Finally the fight begins to wear on him, the small annoying cuts and bruises, but mainly the sheer amount of force he had to give to just barely steer juggernaut into the right direction, if he ever has to go up against him again, I think its safe to say he doesn’t have to pull his punches.
As the kids were stepping out of the truck several of them ran to hug Spider-Man, crying tears of joy, thanking him profusely as he used his super strength to snap each inhibitor collar off. Once the kids all had their collars removed he called someone he knew he could trust.
“Captain Watanabe speaking.” Her voice almost devoid of all emotion, almost.
“Heyyyyyyyyy Yuri, how’s your day going?” Struggling to keep his voice steady, she already had a lot on her plate, but this is what it looks like, there could be a city wide trafficking (specifically mutants) ring on the rise.
Sighs “Spider-Man, I’m still doing paperwork from our last encounter, what do you want now?” Exhaustion just slightly seeping through her voice along with the usual annoyance.
“Right well um, you know that warehouse we busted that drug deal at a couple weeks ago?”
“Yeah, what about it? I swear if you are about to tell me that Rhino destroyed while you were getting a piggy back ride I’m going to-“
“NOnonono nothing like that, well one guys like rhino but the warehouse is still standing. I’m calling because I just busted two enhanced suspects from trafficking, approximately 12 kids all had mutant inhibitor collars on. Some look worse than others, I was hoping you could possibly send some of New York’s finest down here to detain the perps along with a few ambulances for the kids?” Without realizing he held his breath, he knew he was asking for a lot, the precinct had been short staffed HEAVILY ever since the Wilson Fisk being mayor ordeal. Which in all honesty he can’t blame them, the things he is doing, what he’s asking them to do, its not right.
“Jesus, how many perps are there? I think I can spare a few squads at most. As for the children, I’m sorry but we don’t have the capacity nor the capabilities of storing a couple let alone a dozen mutants. Wait you said the warehouse is fine? No property damage? That’s a first.”
“Damnit, I was afraid you’d say that. What the hell am I supposed to do now Yuri? I can’t take 12 mutant children and have 'em sleep on my floor!” Whisper shouting because he didn’t want to alarm any of the kids that he might not be able to help them.
Yuri was silent for a few seconds apart from click-clacks on her keyboard. “I just recently read something about a mutant school program and taking in strays they may find. Its run by a… Charles Xavier, I’ll send you his number, see if you can find out if they have any room there. Seriously though no property damage? You keep this up I might have to throw you a pizza party or something.” She chuckles at the absurdity of her last sentence.
“Charles Xavier huh? Thanks Yuri, you’re a life saver. Also… ahem… imayhavedestroyedtheentrance. THANKS AGAIN YURI BYE!” Immediately flipping his phone shut as he hears Yuri start to respond with a very loud “WHAT?!”
