Work Text:
Gellert liked Albus’ hands. They were so delicate with pretty long fingers and neat clean nails. It was strange, he had only known this boy for two weeks but he seemed to be enthralled by him. He'd never felt so understood by someone else, never felt so interested in someone else’s point of view. For Gellert, Albus was one of a kind, different in such a beautiful way. It was why he told Albus he was a seer because he knew that, unlike others around him, he would believe him. He knew Albus would help him with his visions instead of chastising him.
He found himself one afternoon, while sitting in his bedroom, watching the other boy as they silently read together. Albus was pretty with the type of soft features Gellert always liked in other boys. His eyes moved from his face to his hands. His lovely, gentle hands and fingers he wished he could touch with his own.
‘Shall I give you a palm reading?’ Gellert asked suddenly.
He watched as the other boy looked up at him and fanned some of his auburn hair away from his face.
‘A palm reading?’ He questioned.
Gellert nodded and moved closer to him.
‘Hmmm, I’ve had one of those before and I don’t think it really told me much, it seems more like a silly trick than an actual magical skill.’ Albus told him while putting his book down.
‘Ah!’ Gellert gasped dramatically ‘but you likely got a palm reading from someone only claiming to be a seer, a real Seer finds actual value in the art of palmistry.’
Albus looked a little sceptical but still held his hand out.
‘Ah, I need your left hand.’ Gellert told the other.
Albus raised a well groomed eyebrow.
‘It makes a difference?’
‘Of course it does!’ Gellert grinned. ‘Every seer knows that the way to do proper palm reading is reading someone’s left hand.’
Albus gave him an amused look and then gave him his left hand.
There was a moment, a small moment that no one else would be able to feel. A moment where they touched hands and there was a certain type of spark, a lightning bolt of soft gentle feelings between the two boys.
Gellert let himself indulge in that spark for a moment then let his fingers drag on Albus palm.
His skin was just as soft as Gellert imagined it would be. It felt like the feathers of the world's most beautiful dove. He let his fingers softly touch the lines, even the lines themselves were pretty.
He heard a small gasp and he looked up at his auburn haired boy. To his delight he saw that his face had become slightly pink. Pink suited Albus well, it made him look even sweeter. Gellert felt his ears warm.
‘W-what are you seeing on my hand then?’ Albus asked softly, clearly shy. A cute emotion on him.
Gellert looked back at Albus’ hand and traced the top line.
‘The first line on your hand is broken in the middle, that broken part means there is some sort of tragedy in your life.’
‘Oh…’ Albus replied sadly, ‘that must be about my mother.’
Gellert looked at Albus, his expression was a mix of overwhelming sadness and anger. It was the same expression he always wore when he mentioned his late mother.
‘I’m sorry, Albus.’ Gellert said.
Albus shook his head.
‘Don’t apologise, you aren’t the reason she’s gone.’ Albus' eyes were shining in unshed tears, Gellert felt a twinge of guilt in his stomach. Oh Morgana he only wanted to touch Albus’ hand not remind him of his dead mother. He gently traced his fingers across Albus’ other lines.
‘Your life and love lines are both long and matching.’ He informed him hoping this would be a welcomed distraction for Albus.
‘Hm?’ Albus questioned him. ‘And what does that mean?’
Gellert thought for a moment, touching Albus’ hand, stroking those two matching lines, liking the way they felt.
‘It means someone is going to love you the whole of your lengthy life.’
He looked up at Albus. To his pleasure he had turned a deep shade of pink.
He watched Albus' pretty blue eyes widened in surprise.
‘My whole life?’ He replied in a soft voice.
Gellert nodded.
‘For years on end, yes.’ Then a thought hit Gellert, a thought he should have had when he first saw Albus’ hands.
‘I have the same on my hand.’
Albus blinked at him and watched as Gellert moved to put his other hand next to Albus’.
He was correct, they both had identical love and life lines on their left hands.
Gellert felt his heart rate increase. He had read somewhere that those who had matching lines on their hands were true soulmates. Gellert didn’t believe in soulmates when he read it but now he wasn’t so sure. Albus felt like a soulmate, in the short time he knew him, Gellert felt like he could trust him with anything, he felt relaxed in his presence and most important he felt like he never wanted to leave his side. Gellert's heart jumped when he felt Albus gently touch the lines on his hands. It’s so soft the way he touched him.
‘So…’ Albus whispered as he continued to pad Gellert’s hands. ‘Someone is going to love you all your life too?’
‘Yes, I assume so.’ Gellert replied in a tone of voice he had never used before. They sat there for a little bit after hand in hand. Gellert then looked into Albus’ eyes, admiring the pretty ocean colour, wishing at that moment he could enchant himself so small so he could dive into them. His eyes then went to Albus’ lips. Lips which were so gorgeously pink in colour.
He felt Albus’ own eyes on him, and in that moment both boys had the same all consuming thought.
I want to place my lips on his.
He watched as Albus closed his eyes and moved ever so slightly towards him. He looked a little awkward but it was so endearing Gellert didn’t care.
Gellert then gently tilted Albus’ chin and started to move closer and closer.
In five seconds I’ll have my lips on Albus Dumbledore’s
In five seconds I’ll be able to taste-
‘Boys!’
The two boys froze as they heard the booming voice of Gellert’s Tante, calling them from the kitchen.
‘Boys, I’ve made lunch! Come down quickly before it gets cold!’
To Gellert’s annoyance Albus snapped away from him.
‘Coming Ms Bagshot!’ He called back. Gellert watched in dismay as the other boy stood up, and moved towards the door like he had been awoken from a deep magical trace.
‘Coming, Gel?’ Albus asked him, hand on his bedroom door handle.
Gellert swallowed. In his head he cursed his Tante, for Morgana's sake couldn’t she have waited five more minutes to call them? If she had waited he could've been kissing Albus senseless right now!
Despite this, Gellert still got up and followed Albus downstairs.
As he watched the other boys back he thought about how much he wished to spend every minute touching Albus’ hand and kissing his lips.
