The resemblances of the sunflower

Summary:

"I love sunflowers, they're just so beautiful and they need the sun to live."

But what happens when you're a sunflower without a sun to look toward?

Notes:

So, the time i'm writting this is when the comic or ANY lore of VampGuest and VampNoob, or Noob and Guest 666 is revealed. All i know is Guest 666 killed VampNoob under the Corruption of Corrupted Builderman and VampGuest, VampNoob, Noob and Guest 666 were all friends. Ok bye, don't come at me, this fandom's small enough.

Also english is not my first language so expect grammar errors, do tell me if you spot them though.

Work Text:

VampGuest was always prepared for anything. Him and VampNoob has a picnic tonight and he was obviously not gonna miss it. He did had the great idea of inviting Noob and Guest, but then again, they're not exactly nocturnal creatures, or in the sense that they'd usually not stay awake this late.

But enough of that, VampGuest got to the spot VampNoob told him pretty early to set up the little place for them to hang out, and a large umbrella just in case of sunrise.

Surrounding him is an endless field of sunflowers, althought they all looked quite wilted because the sun was currently not up. Not to worry though, the moonlight makes up for all.

He sat there only for a few minutes before he heard footsteps and the sound of a cape.

"VampNoob! You made it! I almost thought you'd forgotten," he joked, knowing well his friend would never forget.

"Oh, please, as if i'd pass an opportunity to hang out with you. B'sides, i'm the one who showed you this field," VampNoob took a seat next to VampGuest, just a few inches away from each other. "What d'you think of the view? I think it's pretty, especially once it's sunset or sunrise."

VampGuest just nodded in aggreement. The view is majestic after all. The moonlight hits the bright yellow sunflowers in the dark, it was calming and almost poetic, if you will.

Most of the food that VampGuest had prepared weren't much, mostly pastries he learnt how to bake from Guest whenever they hung out.

"Since when did you got into baking? I thought you said you hated the kitchen since last time you over-seasoned the food?" VampNoob asked while actively looking at the cupcake in his hand like there's a potential that it may contains accidentally poison.

VampGuest feigned offense but it did nothing as he chuckled, "well, excuse me for wanting to make something nice for you, jeez. I learnt the recipes from Guest, he's much better at baking them but i'd say i'm not half bad!" He says proudly, "And, i made your favorite flavor, lemon!"

VampNoob hums a sound that was dripping with suspicion, and a sprinkle of amusement but it was barely there. He still took a bite though.

"Woah, it's..actually good," he says, muffled by the pastry in his mouth.

"See? Told you!" VampGuest almost threw his hands up in triumphant victory, but he just settled with an "i told you so" kinda comment.

"Ok, fine. I stand corrected, you can make tasty food," VampNoob reluctantly says while chewing the pastry, still.

For a bit while, they just sat there, ate, goofed around and over all, enjoyed each other's company. At some point, both of them just laid in the grass of the place, looking up at the night sky that they'd seen far too many times.

"Hey, how old are you again?" VampNoob sudden asked, although he still didn't look at VampGuest, his eyes glued to the sky.

VampGuest glanced at him before adjusting his laying position.

"Almost 240, i think? Why?" He asked, this time he looked at VampNoob.

"Just wondering if you still remember your age. Seems important."

"Well, mine's approximately the same as yours, that makes it easier to remember, right?"

"I supposed, yeah."

They didn't say much after that, but VampGuest kept starin' at him. His face, his features, the way the calm light of the moon hits his face. VampNoob was beautiful, he always thought that, and he always will. But something about the moonlight doesn't seem to match with his beauty. It needed to be brighter, stronger and more vibrant. Like sunlight.

"You're doing it again," VampNoob suddenly says, breaking VampGuest's train of thoughts.

"Doing what?" He quickly looks away in a terrible attempt to cover up.

"Staring," VampNoob turned to look at him directly this time with an amused smile.

"I wasn't staring."

"What were you doing then?"

"..observing."

"Same thing!"

"No it isn't!"

"Yes it is, you're analyzing my face like it's got the structure of an ancient Greek!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

At this point, the two of them just looked at each other and breaks out laughing.

"You're stupid, dude," VampNoob muttered through laughter as he shoved VampGuest lightly on his shoulder.

"You're not better, dumbass."

👀

VampGuest was always prepared for anything. Even when VampNoob was dragging him to see that same sunflower field but at sunrise, risking sunlight damanges.

He brought an umbrella big enough for both of them just for this.

"C'mon, we'll finally see the sunflowers not dead for once!" VampNoob urge him as he was already pulling VampGuest by his hand.

VampGuest didn't exactly argue back, he was just trying to catch up.

The view when they got there was worth it, however. The sunlight basking onto the sunflowers were definitely better than the moonlight, they are sunflowers after all, not moonflowers.

But what mattered more to VampGuest right now was to not get burnt in this deadly, beautiful light.

While VampGuest stood under the umbrella and made sure it covers VampNoob, VampNoob doesn't seem to care exactly. He didn't seem to put any mind to the fact that this is sunlight and he's a vampire. He rushed out into the field, and VampGuest almost let out a high squeak from worry and panic. Luckily enough that VampNoob had a cap and a long collared cap on, or else VampGuest would actually panic.

"Oh my god, this is beautiful! VampGuest are you seeing this? The sunflowers are even more gorgeous in the sunrise light."

But instead of the flowers that VampGuest's looking at, he's looking at him. VampGuest is rarely wrong, and he's not wrong this time either. VampNoob looked ethereal. The light that reflected his eyes, the way it sparkled, the way he looked much more natural in this beautiful light; the sunflowers in his hands was just as beautiful as him. VampGuest wished he could photograph this moment and keep it, but he'll just settle with engraving it into his mind.

👀

VampGuest was prepared for most things, but not everything.

The corruption that spreaded throughout Robloxia was not a slow change. No, it was sudden and unexpected. It started when many objects or buildings starts to have broken scripts written over them, people getting infected and worse, people dying of it; either from getting killed by the corrupted, or by the corruption itself.

VampGuest thought he could protect people, he thought at the very least he can protect his friends and himself.

He was sorely mistaken.

Guest 666 was affected by the corruption and directly kept alive and manipulated by the corruption by Builderman himself.

The next thing he knew was finding VampNoob. Cold, but not an undead vampire cold. It was a cold that was haunting. VampNoob's eyes lacked that soark in his eyes, instead they were blank and stared horrified in front of him as if they had seen something terrific.

"No...no, no no no. No this can't be happening. Hey, VampNoob? Nooby? Sunflower? Hey, wake up."

He pleaded, his eyes are starting feel wet yet too dry at the same time.

"Hey, c'mon, aren't we supposed to be undead? C'mon..."

The more he pleaded or held on tighter to VampNoob's cold body, the more it burned it eyes and his heart. But he didn't let go of the body, he sat their in the cold air just holding him, the blood dried on his clothes and he just let it. VampGuest's sure his tears stained his best friend's cape but he had half the mind to wipe it off with his own sleeves.

"I'm sorry, i'm so sorry i couldn't protect you. I'm sorry...i couldn't even tell you what you meant to me. I'm sorry i'm too late. I'm sorry i never..."

And it keeps going and going, and going. And going. Thousands of "I'm sorry"s were said as he sat there until Bacon found him and pried him away from the body. And between the apologies, there were always a breath of "I love you"s that were heard by no one but himself.

👀

VampGuest is not prepared for everything. As he stood there in front of his best friend's grave that was built not long after by the effort of him and his..remaining and surviving friends.

He stood there in front of VampNoob's grave with Noob, his other best friend.

He found comfort in Noob's company, maybe it was the fact that Noob looked uncannily like VampNoob, maybe it was the positive and vibrant energy he has. Maybe it filled a hole inside VampGuest that is now empty.

However, he can't find it in himself to love Noob the way he did with VampNoob. Noob is a reliable and great friend, but he can't stand the feeling of betrayal that he's only using his friend to get over his grief. It's not fair, nor will it be healthy.

So he'll stay here, he'll visit his grave and talk as if he's still here. Maybe he's crazy, but who's here to tell him that it's illogical? A sunflower needs its sun, and once the sun is gone what can it do other than wilt.
