The Bet was simple-
Scale one of their humans,
Peck em on the cheek
And get away before said human could react
Bdubs egarly took the bet, figuring he could scoot out of Scar’s reach more easily than the other two
Plus it would be funny to watch Scar’s stunned expression after the fact
So Bdubs waited atop one of the selves in the living room-
The one right next to where the hallway connected to.
And waited with his hook and thread like a cat ready to pounce.
The Skizz and Zedaph hadn’t clocked him yet which was good news
Although Bdubs’ borrower brothers Impulse and Tango definitely had and they kept snickering and pointing at how ridiculous he looked
Definitely NOT helping!!
But who needed them anyways,
Bdubs was about to prove them wrong on their silly bet and they’d have to do his chores for a month!
Eventually Bdubs’ perked up as he heard Scar roll down the hallways,
He stood, readying his hook and then with a running start he-
“What- Bdubs!!” Skizz’s startled voice called out and it distracted the green clad borrower just enough to trip over his own feet and tumble over the side-
There was other noises of panic but Bdubs couldn’t make them out as the world slowed down and his life flashed before is eyes
Wait was this it?!! All for some stupid cocky bet?!
He hoped Tango and Impulse wouldn’t miss him too much-
Bdubs landed!
But…
But his impacted was buffered then cushioned by something soft and warm.
The green tailed borrower hadn’t realized he shut his eyes until he needed to open them again.
He recognized the texture of the surface immediately.
And when I looked up he saw the very concerned face of his big brother-
“Bdubs are you okay?? Are you hurt?!? How the heck did you fall from up their mister!”
His ears were still ringing and his heart rate still rushing-
He hadn’t felt like this since…. Since…
The day they were first discovered….
When they got caught
When Bdubs had been ripped away from his family and sold off like a prized jewel
The memories and adrenaline brought a wave of sobbing upon the young borrower.
He had nearly just died!!
All because he was being reckless and stupid!
If it hadn’t been for Scar’s quick reflexes he wouldn’t have survived!!
A thumb came closer, wiping away tears as reassuring whispers came from above.
Bdubs clung to the large digit with all his strength, still sobbing and shaking.
A vague sense of vertigo washed over his body atop all of that, telling him that he was being lifted up-
And sure enough was Dubs looked up through the tears he saw Scar’s face a lot closer-
A soft kiss was placed of The youngest’s head quickly followed by Scar gently nuzzling him with his nose.
Bdub was quick to latch on there instead, hugging across the bridge of the human’s nose and nuzzling as close as he could be-
“It’s okay Dubby- I got you.” Scar’s voice was warm and gentle
And Bdub’s couldn’t help but let out an another relived sob.
It took time for the green clad borrower to finally calm down into shudder breaths and sleepy chirps as his adrenaline crashed.
Scar held him the entire time, cradling him in his hand, whispering reassurances and occasionally placing sweet kisses on his head.
Bdubs eventually fell sleep feeling safe and secure in the hands of his big brother.

Mini blooper of course:
Tango and Impulse were scolded for encouraging the reckless behaviour in the first place but seeing that they were also shaken with that happened it wasn’t very harsh.
Though Skizz did get smacked once for distracting a borrower mid maneuver and kissed on the cheek plenty for warning Scar of the falling borrower.
Thankfully no one got hurt and they all learned from the experience
