Chapter Text
Today was boring, to the point you would want to sleep all day waiting for tomorrow to come. Sylvester was just mindlessly walking through hallways full of books, a random library he found in Minecraft, but nothing interested him much. He sighed, stopping in his track, and took a random book from the endless shelves. He opened it. It wasn’t even in a language he knew and he didn’t want to waste his day trying to translate everything just for it to be lame so he put it away and burnt it. Suddenly, a few more letters appeared on the now brownish paper: “Sylvester, please stop that fire! You don’t know what you’ll get into, please listen to me!” but everything was already unreadable. All he could read was “you were warned.” and a name? What kind of name even was this?
S0ul3nt1ty.
He scoffed, shrugging his shoulders. It didn’t make any sense to him. Actually, it entertained him more than whatever happened before. So he just started burning the whole library, waiting for things to happen. But nothing. The books were burning behind him, the smell was excruciating, he needed to get out of here. So, as he always did, he opened a portal and stepped into it, walking into a brand new world.
One of the “powers” he developed after getting told by the doctors his disease isn’t going to be cured was walking through universes. It took him months to learn it, but it was worth it, at least he wasn’t bored and he was enjoying his time before dying. And maybe one day, he’ll find the cure in another universe.
When Sylvester stepped on the grassy grounds, he was immediately hit by violent winds. He blinked, confused. Oh. He happened to join a Roblox game accidentally. A tornado stood in front of him right after his portal closed. Fuck. I mean, he could respawn but.. he still could feel the pain of dying, and he already felt it enough when he accidentally ended up in Forsaken, but that’s a story for another time.
The round ended a few seconds later. The purple haired guy sighed, relieved, and climbed the stairs on the lobby tower, searching for anyone to talk to or bully as he was bored as hell. He suddenly felt a presence, right next to a girl. She only wore pastel colors, two ponytails, and a party hat. Sylvester didn’t realize he was staring at her until she turned around and talked.
“You?”
What. He took a step back, confused. What the hell was wrong with that girl? He’d never seen someone like that before. She seemed… He didn’t even know how to describe her. It was too strange. A few minutes passed, nobody talked, except the other people in the game. It felt like what only mattered at the moment was what would happen next, and Sylvester was ready to run.
“You need to leave.”
“What?”
“Quick. It’s already noticed you.”
The man didn’t think twice before running, he hid behind a wide panel and tried to open a portal. Fuck. One of the issues with his ‘power’ was that he had a timer before he could walk through another universe. It was all meant for his well being, as it would make him nauseous or even throw up. He started shaking. The presence felt huge, as if it was taking the whole game and invading his own private bubble.
Then he heard it. It was subtle. In his mind. What the fuck.
The purple haired man tried to ignore it. He was maybe hallucinating. He had insomnia.
It happened again. Twice. Thrice.
Sylvester couldn’t help but turn around. There it was.
It had a normal Roblox avatar. Weird.
The environment around them suddenly turned quiet, dark and empty, as if he entered in its domain. The girl was here too. She looked like she was used to it, as if it has been haunting her for years. Sylvester felt bad. What kind of stuff could have she been through?
It wasn’t as bad as what she was going through at home.
The entity didn’t move, nor speak. It stares. It thinks. It plans. The girl didn’t dare say anything. She was scared. Sylvester was frozen in place, terrified. He hasn’t seen or felt such influence like it. It was almost uncanny.
“Sylvester.”
His own name rang in his ears. The man swallowed, feeling at unease. He took a step back, looking around trying to find a spot where to open his portal. The other inconvenience with his power was that he couldn’t show it to anyone. For his own safety. I won’t elaborate.
The entity’s gaze followed him as he tried to walk away. It was calm. Way too calm. Sylvester could hear the girl’s and his own heartbeat.
He couldn’t make a portal. Not when someone was watching. It knew. Was he its next victim? Was the girl his first victim? Sylvester took a deep breath and decided to stand up for himself. He walked back and stood right in front of the entity.
“What do you want?”
“You’ll regret it.”
The man opened his mouth to speak but stopped mid track. Regret? He looked at the girl, who looked away in disappointment. She warned him. She was the one who wrote the book. Why this book in particular though? He couldn’t wrap his head around this.
He suddenly felt a change. The entity was vibrating, as if it was overstimulated. Sylvester wanted to run, but he couldn’t leave. What if it kills him?
“We’ll meet again.”
Then it disappeared, taking the girl with it.
What the fuck.
