"You’re not gonna leave me, are you?"
Marshall’s breath hitched, he sounded broken. The question and uncertainty in his voice caught Finney off guard, but he knew exactly where it came from.
"I’m not leaving you. I’m here." His voice was barely above a whisper. "I’m talking to you right now."
The words came out gentler than he intended. Finney lifted a hand to cup Marshall’s cheek, his thumb slowly brushing over the damp skin beneath his eye. Every gentle stroke lingered, silently reminding him that he was there, that he wasn’t going anywhere.
When he leaned in to press another kiss against him, it was Marshall’s lips that met his instead.
The kiss was light and soft.
It wasn’t meant to take the sadness away—Finney knew some wounds couldn’t be kissed into healing—but if Marshall had to carry it, then he’d carry it with him, even if only for a while.
He stayed close when they parted, unwilling to put even the smallest distance between them. His forehead rested lightly against Marshall’s, their breaths mingling in the quiet.
"Aku sayang kamu, kasihku," he whispered, his voice warm enough to melt into the space between them. "I’m never leaving. I’ll always stay with you"
Marshall didn’t answer. Instead, he leaned into Finney’s touch as it was the first safe thing he’d found all night. His fingers slowly curled around the fabric of Finney’s sleeves, holding on without realizing how tightly he was clinging.
Finney’s heart ached.
He cradled Marshall’s face with both hands, his thumbs tracing slow circles over his cheeks. Every so often, he’d brush away the tears that escaped, only for another to take its place. He never seemed to mind.
"You don’t have to tell me what’s been bothering you if you don’t feel like it, sayang. But you know I’ll always be proud of you, right? You always do your best. You worked hard today too. And you’re so, so loved by me, my Marshall."
There were stars in Marshall’s eyes—bright and beautiful despite the tears. Finney couldn’t help but lose himself in them for a moment.
Marshall looked so pretty.
Afraid another sob would escape the moment he spoke, Marshall only parted his lips. His hand slowly lifted to cup Finney’s face, his fingers tracing gently along his jawline, saying everything he couldn’t bring himself to put into words.
Finney reached up and took Marshall’s hand in his own. He pressed a soft kiss into his palm before resting his cheek against it, closing his eyes for the briefest second. When he looked up again, a small, endearing smile found its way onto his face.
"Marshie, pretty, tell me what you want now, sayang."
"Sayang, I want you."
"Mhm. I’m here."
"I want to hug you, I want to kiss you, I want to stretch you, I want to fold you."
"I’m all yours, I’m fully yours. Do it, kasihku."
A fond smile tugged at Marshall’s lips.
Only then did it truly sink in for Marshall just how close they were, barely an inch apart. He could feel Finney’s warm breath brushing softly against his own, the tense between them growing heavier.
Carefully, his thumb traced over Finney’s lower lip, lingering there slowly to memorize the feeling.
"Aku mau cium bibir kamu seratus kali."
"Mau. Cium aku sekarang juga."
Then, their nose brushed against each other. Both lips already parting, Finney teasingly pulled away whenever Marshall tried to lean in.
A chuckle slipped past Marshall’s lips before he finally closed the distance between them, pressed a kiss onto Finney’s lips. It was unhurried. Marshall moved carefully, almost hesitantly, until the way Finney leaned into him became all the reassurance he needed.
Finney couldn’t help but smile against his lips, relief settling in his chest. He let the kiss linger, tasting Marshall’s lips. It felt just like all the longing finally had somewhere to go.
The kiss gradually grew more certain each time. Their eyes drifted shut, shutting out everything else as they lingered in the room filled with breathless sounds of their own. Their foreheads brushed as they shifted so slightly for a better angle, finding a more comfortable position without ever wanting to part.
They didn’t just stay still. Finney’s hand came to rest at the side of Marshall’s neck, his thumb softly stroking his skin in slow circles. Marshall, in return, held him a little closer, his hands resting around Finney’s waist underneath the fabric. The slow caressing sent a warmth blooming through Finney’s chest, small sound escaped from his lips.
Lost deeper in the comfort, Finney found himself settling onto Marshall’s lap without breaking the kiss. He started to use his tongue now, slipping and roaming inside Marshall’s mouth. Tongues entwined, they started losing their minds on whether to catch a breath or deepen the kiss. But Finney lost it first, a string of saliva went along as he pulled away.
"Breathe through your nose, pretty. Belum seratus lho ya," Marshall chuckled.
Finney licked his lower lip, eyes rolled. "Shut up."
He nudged Marshall’s chin upward with his index finger until their eyes met. Finney pressed a light peck on Marshall’s lips once again. "Harder this time," he murmured as the corners of his lips lifted.
Of course, Marshall took that as a green light. Always with that smug look, "I don’t refuse at all."
Without warning, he crashed his lips onto Finney’s once more. It was more heated than before, fingers running through Marshall’s hair desperately as Finney tried to keep up with the pace.
Marshall slid his hands to Finney’s chest, touching and rubbing his bare skin. "Marsh— mmh..." Finney was cut off as he got his lips sucked. It was like Marshall wouldn’t give a chance for him to complain. He kept stealing bites too on Finney’s lips, either to test reactions or just because he liked to tease him.
As the kiss deepened, still, it was Finney who slid his tongue gently into Marshall’s mouth first. Marshall then followed, playing with Finney’s back and forth. They exchanged saliva, tongue dancing as Finney slightly humped his body on Marshall.
It got messier and sloppier the more they immerse in what they’re doing. Marshall rocked his body against Finney’s, savouring the taste of his boyfriend to the very last bit, and Finney knew how to make his boyfriend feel good.
After a while, Finney broke the kiss again, formed another visible string of saliva between them. His fingers gently stroked Marshall’s cheek, admiring how beautiful he looked in that moment.
Marshall answered by scattering small, clumsy kisses around Finney’s lips and along his jaw, one after another.
"Finney."
A soft kiss landed beside Finney’s lips.
"Finney Julien."
Another found the corner of his jaw.
"I love you."
He paused for a moment before pressing another kiss against his cheek.
"Aku sayang kamu."
A smile tugged at Marshall’s lips as he kissed the other side of his cheek.
"Aku sayang kamu terus."
His nose brushed lightly against Finney’s.
"My pretty little baby."
This time, he kissed Finney’s lips again, unable to hide the fondness in his eyes.
Finney let out a quiet chuckle. He brushed a few strands of hair away from Marshall’s face before gently patting his head. Then, slipping a finger beneath his chin, he carefully lifted it until their eyes met.
"Mhm, Marshall Edwards…"
He pressed a soft kiss to the tip of his nose.
"I love you more than you’ll ever know."
Another kiss found his forehead.
"Aku sayang kamu, dan aku akan sayangin kamu terus, ya?"
And finally, he sealed the promise with one last gentle kiss to his lips.
Marshall pulled Finney into another embrace without a word. His arms wrapped around him a little tighter this time, and he buried his face in the crook of Finney’s neck. Finney melted into him just as easily, his arms naturally finding their way around Marshall’s neck before one hand rubbing slow circles over his back while the other rested behind his head.
They stayed in silence, listening to each other’s heartbeat and steady breathing. Words no longer mattered.
The rest of the world could wait a little longer.
