To The Honorable Judge, Iudex Neuvillette; Comes Now, Maquer De Fille, the alleged murderer in this case, who appeals to the Fontaine Court of Law and Public Opinion from the order of wrongful conviction of the murder of Leyene Statin in the Fleuve Cendre. The parties to the order appealed from, along with the names and addresses of their respective attorneys.

[Maquer De Fille] is a citizen of the Fleuve Cendre district underneath the City of Fontaine. Known for his straight-to-the-point attitude by the people of the Cendre, he was well-liked. He is a Consultant at the Bank of Vasari. But he also lived in the Cendre most of his life and assisted in adjusting people to life beneath the city for a small fee.
[Leyene Statin] was a citizen of Poisson. She was an angler. Known for her loud and rambunctious demeanor, but that was all cut short as she made a trip to the Cendre to sell fish and was found dead in the water the next day. Authorities deemed Maquer as the main suspect. Leaving her younger brother, Cloris Statin, back home.
[Zwolle] is a bank teller at the same bank that Maquer works at and has been a co-worker for a few months. He is good friends with him and shares his lunch with another colleague, Sandra.
[Sandra] is a receptionist at the bank where both Maquer and Zwolle work, and she considers them friends. But she is far more perceptive than Zwolle and knows Maquer does something else on the side to sustain himself. She also has access to the Bank Records for both Leyene Statin and Maquer De Fille.
[Alain], an investigating officer for the Gardes, who took Sheremetev in and questioned, and issued a Subpoena duces tecum for the Northland Bank. If they do not hand over Leyene's bank records within 48 hours (about 2 days), the Gardes can raid the bank.
[Cloris Statin] is the younger brother of the victim, Leyene Statin, and gave a short witness impact statement due to the mental toll of the event that struck the family.
[Elphane] is a Melusine managing the Navia Aquabus Line, who has receipts for Leyene's Statins tickets for entering the City of Fontaine and for the bus she wanted to leave on, but she never boarded that bus. She was later taken into questioning and handed over the receipts.

[Crossa] is the last person Leyene spoke to, as they spoke about Leyene selling seafood at Crossa's stall. She was later questioned and gave her testimony.
[Macari] is an elderly woman who works at a general market store in the Fleuve Cendre district. She is a well-known and respected member of the community, for whom Leyene provided directions, and Macari gave the directions she needed. She was later taken into question.
[Lois Marcille] was the Garde officer who was first on the scene of the crime, issued the immediate Garde report, and detained Maquer De Fille for questioning back at the station.
[Sheremetev] A representative at Northland Bank who has access to Leyene's Statin bank records and was taken in by the Gardes for questioning and to issue the Subpoena duces tecum.

[Crossa] "I was talking to Leyene a couple of hours before she— I don't feel like saying it. But uh, yeah, we were talking about prices here in the Cendre and how it is in Poisson. But eventually the talking tired us out, and we went back to selling our own goods. I didn't see her again. But she did mention she'll go back to Poisson soon."
[Macari] "Oh, that young lady, bless her heart. I was talking to her. She was selling seafood and such, so I took a gander and bought a few. She thanked me, and I asked for her name. 'Leyene,' she said, 'Oh, how nice she was.' Poor soul. She said she was in a bit of a pinch back in Poisson, said she owed someone a bit of Mora, and is getting it back through her business."
[Crossa] "But before we talked, we spoke a few days before the incident and were talking about whether she'd sell her fish at my stall, and though she didn't agree, she was very nice about it. But she seemed stressed about something."

[Zwolle] "Maquer, accused of that? I refuse to believe it. He's a reasonable man and is very patient with anyone. Lenient, a little too lenient, but I just call that empathy. From 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, he was at the bank, handling clients and working with them. He went off to his lunch break at 1:00 PM, but most of us did too."
[Sandra] "Leyene? Oh, she was loud! That is for sure, a shame that... Well, never mind. But she owed— ahem, owed a lot of Mora. Upwards of 500,000 or so? She paid over half, so we're grateful! But I feel bad for her younger brother. Leyene said she needs all these loans to invest in something. But anytime she did, she looked stressed, like she didn't want to."

[Cloris Statin] "I—I don't really wanna talk about it. It was all too sudden. She said she was going to sell some goods, and she never came back."
[Cloris Statin] "The man? Which men? A few debt collectors came by now and then, but every time they did, she always paid them… But when one guy came around in a suit, she gave another last name, ‘Fille?' I don't know why, but I'm just saying everything I know. The man would nod, and then my sister would hand him the mora. She always looked so panicked.”

[The Gardes issued a ‘Subpoena duces tecum’ towards Northland Bank. A formal request to hand over records of Leyene Statin before her account was frozen. If you do not comply within the next 48 Hours, a warrant will be issued, and the branch of the Northland Bank within Fontaine will be raided.]
[Northland Bank Representative, Sheremetev] “This is absurd! This is an outrageous event! You cannot possibly do this– this will be taken as a slight by The Fatui!”
[Garde Investigator, Alain] "Jeez, calm down. We just need you to hand over the Banking records of a woman by the name of Leyene Statin.”
[Sheremetev] "The dead woman? Is that all you need? Fine then, how long back?”
[Alain] "About the last 3 years. I know you keep records of your clients dating back until when they first put their Mora in your pockets, so I trust these records are reliable.”
[Sheremetev] "Well, if the Northland Bank is known for something, it is its efficiency, or its motto. ‘Not one Mora unaccounted for.’”
[Alain] "Yeah, well, how about that 'No debt goes unpaid?' But check out for someone like you. Always harping on debts. Anyways, come by the Palais Mermonia within the next 48 hours (about 2 days) unless we raid the bank.”
