Chapter Text
Fingers typed away meticulously on the keyboard, the click-clacking of keys being the only sound present aside from the occasional sip of cold and sad-tasting coffee.
The deer groaned, wishing that he’d wake up one day and find himself no longer the founder of the animal corporation nor the one running the hospital.
To say it was tiring was an understatement— it was utterly exhausting, both physically and mentally.
Half-lidded eyes kept open solely on the caffeinated drink were already on the brink of closing.
Nothing a sip of coffee couldn’t solve.
Yawning, the deer wondered what time it was. His mind was focused on work, never keeping track of how much time had slipped by.
Sparing a quick glance toward the digital clock, it read...
two a.m!?
How long had he been working...? Like, four or five hours, maybe?
Sleep was a very enticing option on the table, which the deer was already considering for the sake of his mental health.
The enormous workload said otherwise, however.
Today was, frankly, one of the worst days the hospital had seen in a long while.
Tired and understaffed, the hospital workers suddenly had to deal with half a dozen patients at once, all severely injured and in critical condition. Out of panic and chaos, three lives were lost on this unlucky day.
...A shame, really.
Another yawn tore through his body as he shook the thought away, desperately urging the deer to sleep so he could deal with all the work after getting proper rest.
Nothing another sip of coffee couldn’t fix.
Time dragged itself on. What were mere minutes felt like hours to the doctor, and as the last sips of coffee quickly left the mug, so did his ability to stay awake any longer.
Bleary-eyed, he blinked slowly as the deer gave one final, succumbing yawn, his body slumping over the desk with a dull thud, head hitting the worn-down wood.
The bunny shifted in his sleep, mumbling something before slowly popping one eye open.
What was that noise...?
Lazily sitting up from the bed, his eyes scanned the room for the source of the sound, eventually landing on the slumped figure of his husband at the desk.
Chuckling, the bunny made a mental note to himself to really talk some sense into his husband about working late into the night.
After both of them got proper rest, of course.
The bed creaked as he got up, stretching a little before walking over to the wooden table.
Noticing the still-open document, he swiftly saved everything and turned off the computer.
Gently lifting his head off the table, two hands moved to settle under the deer, lifting with a grunt and carrying him bridal-style.
The bunny walked over to the bed, lowering his beloved onto the soft sheets before getting in beside him.
Covering them both with the fluffy blanket, he pulled the deer close. Two arms wrapped around his husband as the bunny pressed a kiss to his forehead, drifting off to sleep.
