‘Lando?’ Oscar’s voice called out to Lando from the kitchen. ‘Do you want a coffee?’

It’s a bit late in the day for a coffee but Lando’s been up since early trying to edit down some of his VODs to post on his YouTube channel. He had thought about hiring an editor to do it for him, but right now he couldn’t really justify the extra cost when he was perfectly capable of doing the work himself.

Oscar had disagreed. He had been constantly pushing Lando to hire more members to his team outside of Max and a couple of his friends. Oscar was worried that Lando was going to overwork himself between streaming, editing and setting up his own business, even going so far as to offer to pay for the extra help for him. Lando had refused. They had only been dating for like a month and he didn’t want to rely on Oscar’s money any more than he had to despite the lawyer insisting that it was fine.

‘Yes please.’ He called back as he fiddled with his laptop. He had had this one for quite a while now, sentiment being the only reason why he had held onto it for so long. He had a newer one, which sat comfortably in his soundproof office, which he used for more heavy duty work. But this one, as old as it is, is special to him. It was the laptop he began his streaming career on, when he had one or two viewers per stream max. It was the foundation of everything he had become.

He could hear Oscar operating Lando’s somewhat complicated coffee machine. Okay, complicated was probably an exaggeration, but he had never been able to get it to work as well as Oscar did. Even though Oscar never drank coffee (which, how the fuck did he survive then waking up every day at 5), he knew how to make Lando’s better than all the high end cafes around London. And service came with a kiss on top of the standard smile.

Lando had discovered early on that Oscar’s hot drink of choice was hot chocolate which was absolutely adorable. Oscar had been incredibly embarrassed when he told Lando that he had an uncontrollable sweet tooth when it came to the drinks. Lando had made sure that his pantry was always stocked full of the Cadbury hot chocolate powder ever since.

A body pressed against his as Oscar leant over him to place a flat white in Lando’s favourite mug. It was a gag gift that Max had gotten a couple of years ago on his birthday, sculpted in the shape of a fish with ‘hook, line and drinker’ written across the bottom. Lando had threatened to destroy it many times, but over the years he had grown quite attached to it.

‘Thanks Osc.’ Lando tilted his head up so Oscar could press a chaste kiss to his lips. Oscar settled on the couch beside him, hot chocolate in one hand and a pile of super secret lawyer files in the other. Oscar was always working, even during the weekends like now. But he still always managed to take time out of his busy schedule to spend time with Lando, even if it was just the two of them working side by side like this.

‘How are you going?’ Oscar glanced at Lando’s screen. He was busy trying to figure out the more finicky parts of setting up a new business. Oscar had referred him to a business lawyer he was friends with that would help Lando with the legal aspects at a reduced cost. Lando had insisted that he could find some cheap lawyer himself and that he didn’t need one of Oscar’s fancy smancy contacts. Oscar had shut him up with a kiss and told Lando that he would handle it and that Lando deserved to have only the best on his side. It was undeniably incredibly hot.

Lando had worried that he didn’t measure up to Oscar in terms of reputation and skill. Oscar was, as far as he knew, the youngest partner at one of London’s most reputable law firms. Lando, on the other hand, had dropped out of university to pursue streaming. He spent most of his time shouting at pixels on a screen.

And then Oscar had taken him up on his offer to teach him how to play video games and, not to be mean, but Oscar was bad. Lando hadn’t been able to help the little giggles when Oscar would exclaim in frustration whenever his digital character died in the stupidest way possible.

He was even bad at Mario Kart, Mario Kart! Lando hadn’t known it was even possible to be that bad. Half of the time Oscar ended up running backwards, despite the game’s attempts at correcting him. Lando had chosen the slowest settings, picked out the best kart and character and Oscar still could barely manage a top 5 against the CPU. It was hilarious and incredibly endearing.

‘Okay, I think.’ Lando clicked through the hundreds of tabs he had open. ‘I’ve checked and double checked all my paperwork, I’ve submitted my forms to HMRC, I’ve applied for insurance and my licences.’

It had been exhausting, working through the countless piles of documents that the government required. Lando had no idea how Oscar did it as his job. It was only because of his exhaustion that he had forgotten to mute his mic on stream when Oscar had talked to him in the morning.

Fuck. He had to tell Oscar that people were speculating online about his relationship status. It was strange. Lando was a semi-public figure. He wasn’t, like, a real celebrity, but he had a solid fan base and was occasionally recognised on the streets. Oscar knew about all of this, of course. He had subscribed to Lando’s Twitch and YouTube accounts before they were even officially dating.

But Oscar was a more private person. His job and his home life were kept completely separate. Lando didn’t even think that Oscar had told anyone at his work that he was in a relationship. He didn’t mind, of course. Oscar was a very private person and Lando was more than happy to avoid being asked to come to all the law firm’s fancy parties that Oscar complained about.

Lando wondered if there was some sort of law about exposing relationships online, even if they were your own.

‘That’s good Lan.’ Oscar kissed him again, on his cheek this time. Lando had discovered that Oscar loved kissing his cheeks. He did it all the time, as a greeting, as a good bye, in the shower, before bed. Lando revelled in the attention. Oscar was so affectionate, more so than any of Lando’s previous relationships. It felt very domestic, in the best way possible.

The sun was beginning to set outside, a warm light filling the apartment. If there was one thing that Lando loved about his apartment, it was the massive floor to ceiling windows in the living room. Despite his reputation as a streamer, Lando was obsessed with nature and the view from his window was beautiful. His apartment was also high up enough for Oscar to press him against said window without having to worry about anyone seeing them.

They worked in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, Lando tapping away at his computer and Oscar annotating serious things on his files. Lando used to try and read what he was doing but had been immediately beaten by the strange words like “tortious” and “statutory provisions”.

‘Hey, Osc.’ Lando broke the silence. Oscar hummed in acknowledgement as he flipped over a few of his pages. ‘I, uh. Twitter might know that I’m in a relationship with a man. They heard you on stream.’

Oscar looked up.

‘Do they know who I am?’ He asked, twirling his pen in his hand.

‘Well no but.’ Oscar cut him off.

‘It’s fine then Lando. If you’re comfortable with it then I don’t care.’ Oscar said, as if it were the most simple thing in the world.

‘Are you sure?’ Lando double checked.

‘Yes, Lando.’ Oscar said firmly, kindly. ‘If you want, you can show me some of the tweets.’

Lando scrambled for his phone and pulled up the first tweet he saw.

Oscar inspected the tweet and then shrugged.

‘You’ve got enough wiggle room to deny having a relationship at all and even then, there’s nothing identifiable.’ Oscar was so calm compared to Lando.

‘So you’re not going to sue me for like, exposing you or something?’ Oscar gave Lando a funny look.

‘No Lando, I’m not going to sue you for accidentally exposing our relationship because you didn’t.’ Lando relaxed. ‘And even if you did expose us, I don’t mind being public about you.’

Lando unrelaxed.

‘What?’

‘I know we’ve only been dating for a short time, Lando, but I wouldn’t mind your fans knowing about us.’ Oscar said it like it was the most simple thing in the world but Lando’s head was exploding. He had figured that Oscar would remain separate from his streaming persona, not hidden exactly, but there for viewing either. He had fantasised about flaunting his hot and capable boyfriend a couple of times but had assumed that Oscar wouldn’t like that.

‘Does that mean I can teach you Fortnite on stream?’ He asked hopefully. Yes, let his boyfriend embarrass himself with his shitty video game skills before Lando informed his chat that Oscar was a super duper successful lawyer that was way above his level.

‘Absolutely not.’ Oscar sniffed, faux offended at the suggestion. ‘I do have a reputation to maintain.’

‘Awwww come one.’ Lando wheedled. ‘It would be fun.’

‘For you, maybe. I would rather my dignity stay intact.’

‘Fine.’ Lando conceded. ‘But you will feature on my stream, yes? My fans would love you.’

Oscar considered it.

‘Alright.’ He said eventually. ‘So long as you promise not to make fun of my subpar gaming skills.’

‘I promise.’ Lando swore as earnestly as he could. ‘You can provide commentary on my gaming.’

‘Sounds delightful.’ Oscar cut Lando off from replying by pressing his lips against the Brit’s own.
