Work Text:
——— was laying on the ground outside. Staring out at the swaying autumn leaves, as they fall and twirl to join their fellow fallen.
Sitting up in, leaves falling and crinkling under their body, watching a green little bug crawl up their leg. Picking it up and cradling it in in their hands.
“———“ asriel called out.
“Ugh I’m coming” ——— whined.
Dusting off their old denim skirt with their right, holding that olive green bug in the left before
hoisting themself out of the leaf pile.
“Whatcha got there squirt?”
A shriek of fear from the older boy filled the empty space, followed by shriek of joy from the younger kid
“DESS!”, Asriel screamed at his friend, “when did you get here?!”
Dess clutched her stomach laughing, joining ——— in their glee.
“Since I noticed you pass by my house? Anyway you picking up your sister?”
“Oh right! Mom wanted her back in for dinner”
…why did that bother them as much as those words did. As ——— pondered this, looking down at that little bug still held in their hand. They felt.. envy.
The little bug just got to be a bug.. not a boy, not a girl. Just. Itself.
——— just grabbed their brother's arm, in frustration, to tug him back to attention.
“Oh shit sorry, ———! Er uh shoot! I mean, please don’t tell mom! I’ll give you half my pie! Uh anyway I’m gonna guess you’re hungry. Sorry dess gotta go!”
——— giggled before nodding.
