Chapter Text
"Oh, come on, B, we have to go!" Serenas voice echoed through the penthouse. The blond waited not so patiently for her best friend. She had to go out for a smoke, but she promised Blair they would go to school together, as always.
"I will be there in 2 minutes, I really have to find my burgundy headb-" Blair sighed.
"Hurry up, the burgundy headband can wait", she cut her off. She didn't really care; she really needed to take the edge off. Lily talked her head off this morning for the stunt she pulled last week with a certain figurehead of the New York Society committee member. Under stunt, she means had sex with. Her mother always cared what everybody thought of her and the whole Van der Woodsen clan-very annoying and very stuck up - Classic mother. Blair sometimes reminded her of her mother in that sense, and that's when she couldn't handle her. And that's starting to be a more regular occurrence. B babysat her whole summer, and now she will try to pull some kind of agenda on her, saying she is trying to steal her crown or her boyfriend, when in reality, that's all in her head. She sighed, waiting for her.
"Two more minutes and I'll go", she whispered to herself
Upstairs, Blair was truly trying to get ready as fast as possible. Dressed in an outfit Dorota had put on her bed last night, she looked at herself in the mirror; she didn't like what she saw. She really had to put something in her ends, otherwise her mother would mention it again and again and again.
"These shoes won't work", she said to herself.
"B, come on, the guys are waiting for us in the limo", the blonde repeated her pleading "Hurry up!"
This was annoying; she hated being rushed. That's why she was always ready, three steps ahead. But today she wasn't ready, all because of him. She fell asleep at 3 am because of her boyfriend. That sounds awesome until you hear they were fighting all night and not playing around. He just doesn't listen to her, and she is always right, as usual. She slept through her alarm and was hurried by her so-called best friend.
She heard her puff and sigh every 20 seconds and then "I'm tired of waiting for you, and I'm going downstairs. Nate can come get you if he feels like it!" Her voice was heard from the elevator.
"Fine! Go!" she yelled back at her, but she was certain the blonde was already gone.
She had to hurry; Nate can't come up, not after last night. He didn't even apologise for the stunt he pulled. All summer, he was partying, smoking and drinking around. He loved to be around Serena until it was time to clean her vomit or get her to wake up after a long night of drinking and doing only God knows what. They agreed he can party (within reason) during the summer, not so much agreed, as fight, but that wasn't the point. But when autumn came, and school started, he must pull his act together. He had to get his grades up, continue with his lacrosse and most importantly be a better boyfriend. Mr and Ms Archibald always counted on Blair to take care of Nate and make sure he is on the right path; it didn't help that they always mentioned that. Also, her mother was always watching them, and if Blair needed to be perfect, so did her boyfriend. This was all putting so much stress on her.
*Ding*
The elevator made a sound; someone was coming up. She heard footsteps, oh God! I can't see him and fight with him again, not now when I'm in a hurry. I can't believe it's only 6 am. She was more nervous than ever. This school year was important. She had to cement her rule over Constance and later, the whole of Manhattan. Last spring, she noticed her best friend getting comfortable with her minions and handing out scarves. She won't take that away from her, especially not her headband. First her boyfriend's attention, now her minions, it had to stop. She was Blair Waldorf, and no one messes with Blair Waldorf.
She looked at herself in the mirror, building her confidence before her showdown with Nate. She is Blair Waldorf. She took a deep breath as the footsteps closed in, and then she heard a faint knock on her door frame.
"You can't come in. I am almost done," she yelled in a strong voice, still searching for her headband.
"Serena mentioned something about a burgundy headband. If you're looking it check your upper left drawer," the voice of a smug asshat seeped through the cracks of her door.
"What are you doing here, Bass?" Blair asked while moving towards her dresser. How did he know where her dresser was? What a creep, probably has a hidden camera in every corner of the UES.
"Well, Serena and Nate are sharing a joint downstairs. I didn't want to be in the middle of their romance, so I left to get you," he spoke in that voice, when he acted like a brooding I-give-zero-shits rich boy. He always knew how to push her buttons, he was so annoying, but often times better friends than even Serena. She would, of course, never admit that.
"That's not funny", she shot back, searching through her drawer.
"Then why am I amused?" he responded quickly. Such an ass.
"Oh yeah, the same way Christopher said he was amused with your tender and passionate kissing skills", she almost burst out laughing. And then she found her headband, thank Bass for it, but obviously she would never.
"That was only one time!" she sensed he was getting riled up ", and if you want to experience the kissing skills you so wholeheartedly talk about, I am always free, unlike your-"
After a final look in the mirror, she opens the door, "Let's go, Bass."
"I see I was right with the position of the headband", he looked at her proudly and asshole-y.
"Don't let it go in your head, even a broken clock is right twice a day", she rolled her eyes with a hint of a smile on her lips.
"After you, Waldorf", he gestures for her to go in front of him, but she noticed he was glancing at her room.
She looks him up and down, turns to close the door to her room and walks towards the stairs.
"I just wanted a peek, you never let me in your room", he pleaded sarcastically, trying to cheer her up to the best of his abilities, knowing that shit was about to go down with Nathaniel.
"Come on, those two will get as high as kites if we don't hurry", she said, smiling until she realised she was about to see her dear boyfriend and her dear best friends laughing and touching innocently enough so she could pretend not to notice.
"Who says we aren't already late?" he smirks, and they head towards the elevator. He looks at her and understands she knows the scene they're going to see downstairs.
This is going to be one hell of a day.
