Chapter Text
Modern day Japan X027, where magic is the norm and creatures bred from different species are living in integration with human society.
One particular young man in the streets of Shibuya who calls himself Tsukasa Tenma a self-renowned future star, was currently prepping himself in front of a mirror at his open spaced room. A yellow cardigan on while testing out new poses that reflect his bold and loud personality, unfortunately so.
Tsukasa had been accepted to enroll at Kamiyama High, an academy that gathers magically gifted and/or talented students.
“A star like me can only have an exceptional high school debut! Now, I should look up what this school actually is… Though experiencing this school without prior knowledge would certainly be a worthy challenge for me! HA HA HA look out Kamiyama High, Tsukasa Tenma, Ultimate Future Star will be making his debut!”
And off he went, heading to the train station departing to the infamous Kamiyama High.
What actually happened prior to this was a fatal miscommunication error on the theatrical man’s part. He was supposedly scouting for schools majoring in the performing arts for his dream, but after failure after failure, he had just about enrolled in every school he could find online that had fancy reviews or flashy remarks and the like.
Unfortunately for him, Kamiyama High was indeed famous, for a slightly different reason. It was a school for magical students and creatures with spellcasting and events that definitely specialize in flashy whether that be environmentally friendly or not.
On the train, there were a few demi-hybrids that was jam packed with Tsukasa, though he only shrugged it off
“Huh, I guess a lot of people use this train”
Ignorant of the fact that this train specifically goes from point A to B and that is the Kamiyama School to the train station. On the way to school, Tsukasa had a bit of mishaps with some of the hybrids with him on the train.
Whether it was the mental exhaustion or his big and bright ego that blinded him, it was only when he was in front of the school gates of Kamiyama High that it finally dawned on him that he’s actually enrolling in this slightly disappointing school campus. With the only ever friendly fire of magic spells being shot around the school grounds.
When asking for directions to the principal’s office, he looked around to a few people and he was a bit nervous to see a few demi-hybrids so he stuck to the nearest human-looking one around. A girl slightly shorter than her, almost dragging herself with a tired expression and her long white hair that reached just about her ankles.
“How do daytime class students have the energy to go to class this early every day…”
Her mumbling and sighing only got caught off guard as Tsukasa ran up to her and yelled for her attention with the same decibel as a train horn.
She was of course caught off guard in seconds and in Tsukasa’s surprise, ice immediately encased the floor against them, letting Tsukasa dramatically slip and slide until he was a few inches away from the girl’s feet.
“Um are you okay…?”
“No worries miss! A little slip isn’t enough to bring me down!”
Tsukasa beamed brightly, too brightly to the girl’s perspective atleast, but she still extended a hand that Tsukasa reached for.
“I was hoping if you might know whe- COLD!”
Tsukasa immediately pulled back his hand, a bit of frost on it as he tried warming it up with his breath.
The girl simply apologized nervously, and a bit awkwardly
“Ah sorry about that. I’m a yuki-onna after all.”
Tsukasa just grimaced with a crooked smile.
“No its er, fine. I was just a bit shocked as all, a cold shock if you will…”
With a quick shuffle, he composed himself with a proud grin, posing as he did.
“TENMA! as in, a pegasus racing through the sky! TSUKASA! as in, ruling the world! Yes. My name is- TENMA TSUKASA! The man born to become a STAR! I, TENMA TSUKASA, a future star! The man who shines too bright, TENMA TSUKASA! The man who creates miracles, TENMA TSUKASA!”
Just as Tsukasa had finished his grandiose introduction speech though, the girl he was talking to, had undeniably disappeared without a trace at mostly the fact she was weirded out by him to bother and stay.
As he was still trying to look someone to ask directions to, mainly because he was now getting weird looks and people deliberately avoiding him now. He just about got jumpscared when an eerie voice whispered directly next to his ear.
“Mi……ku~…da…yo~”
Causing Tsukasa to immediately scream and jump back
“W-W-WHAAAAAAAA”
Turning to look to whoever spoke those words. His eyes meeting comically large ones belonging to a large plush figure with two turquoise colored twin tails in a professor suit.
“Upupupu. No need to be frightened Tsukasa-kun. I’m the lovable headmaster of this school, Professor Miku”
Tsukasa’s eye twitched a bit still trying to compose himself looking at this..being? that clearly looked like it was just a regular plush mascot that he’d see at malls somewhat.
“A-are you sure you’re not the mascot…?”
As he then immediately backtracked his statement when the 'headmaster’ leers at him menacingly.
Tsukasa gulped but after a quick quip, composing himself.
“Ahem! Once again I am TENMA! as in, a pegas-“
“There’s no need for that! Now let’s go Tsukasa-kun!”
The headmaster quickly said as their flabby limbs pushed Tsukasa finally inside the main academy building.
"Thank you for receiving my letter again Tsukasa-kun, as of right now. You'll be my first and only normal human student for this year round! I'm looking forward to it huhu" the headmaster adds, waddling it's flabby arms.
Tsukasa nods, still very confused. Especially at their specific and almost mockery of a wording
"First “normal” student...?"
His confusion, stacked up with being offended at getting called normal, as well as all the recent jumpscares he’d received had just about almost cracked the theatrical man.
“Um..S-sensei..? W-What do you mean normal..?”
The headmaster just looked at Tsukasa as a-matter-of-factly.
“Yes! Because here in the magical school of Kamiyama High, you’re the first ever enrollee that isn’t a magical being nor do have magical backgrounds!”
Tsukasa practically frothed at the mouth, collapsing in the background as Professor Miku strutted down the hallway like a overly dramatized school professor
“But your application letter just screamed of desperation so I had to of course enroll you in ours Tsukasa-kun!”
Though the headmaster just shrugged it off like a normal occurrence seeing the collapsed student
“Tsukasa-kun? Tsukasa-kun!”
“Oh dear~ They collapsed already? And its just the first day”
Tsukasa was barely conscious as he heard a different more womanly and rather lazy tone of voice. His vision catching sight of a pink-haired lady talking to the headmaster before finally collapsing.
Moments later, Tsukasa found himself on the infirmary office laying down on a white bed.
“So that wasn’t a dream…a person such as myself! Being the only normal student here…ah! But if I am the normal person in this school then that ultimately makes me the most unique and special one in the academy! Such great luck, as intended, HA HA H-“
“Oi, can it would ya. People are trying to sleep here.”
Tsukasa turned his head to look where that gruff and almost annoyed voice came from, immediately seeing the fluff of ginger colored hair, a subjectively handsome face, and then his eyes following the flurry of hair to see very much fluffy dog ears.
“My eyes are down here”
Tsukasa caught a bit off guard, composed himself though he is a bit shaken from this clearly delinquent acting hybrid.
“Greeti-“
“No I’m not a fucking dog. I’m a wolf. Now scram!”
Before Tsukasa can even get a word in, he’s rudely kicked out of the infirmary
“Well, that guy was certainly rude. Best not to associate with guys like him. That’s right Tsukasa Tenma, lets become the greatest special non-special in this academy!”
A long pink haired lady with a drowsy face eventually came up to him from the hallway.
“A Tsukasa san~…? Already awake I szzzzz…”
Tsukasa already felt a bit offended at this seemingly teacher falling asleep
“Ma’am I am Tsu_”
Though the lady suddenly woke up just as he was talking.
“Ah right~…, your class schedule is still being made Tsukasa-kun. So I suggest getting to your dorms and meeting your dorm mates first~…Its uh…3 rights and then a left that way. Just ask for Luka-sensei and she’ll give you your dorm assignment”
Tsukasa just sighed but just nodded gratefully
“Much appreciated err..?”
“Luka-sensei~…zzz”
“Huh? But you just-“
And Tsukasa was dragged away from the hallway due to the unfortunate lunchtime bell with the whole student body somewhat causing more misfortune.
After so on and so on,
Tsukasa already tired and panting heavily forced himself to enter another classroom, he’s seen about different clones with different personalities of the staff here and somehow every Luka-sensei he encountered wasn’t the correct one.
“Is…grrahhh…. Luka-sensei …huff….the one with my dorm assignment….here?!”
Tsukasa right then and there just about turned into stone and visibly cracked as in the end, the Luka he was looking for was the first one he met. The one with the sleeping spells.
The older lady in front of him yawned and rubbed her eyes as she said
"Ah....right...."
She lazily picked up a nearby list of dorm placements.
"Tenma...Tenma...Tenma...ah. it seems that you won't be staying in the SEKAI dorms. You'll be staying faaaaaaarrrr~ off campus"
Tsukasa stared at her like she was crazy
“I-in the end…you should’ve given me the dorm assignment from the start”
The drowsy one just giggled care freely
“Oh my, well, this often happens since the staff here all have the same faces one way or another”
Tsukasa was more or less just exhausted to even tsukkomi that remark.
“A-ahem…so then....where am I going to stay then?!"
Luka-sensei just smiled as she made herself comfy on her desk
"Ufufufu, you'll be staying in one of the dorms my friend looks over. Just take this map and tell a blue haired teacher, and tell him that I sent you. His name is Kaito, and he often gets bullied by the dorm residents so good luck!"
Worry and concern was evident on Tsukasa’s face though the Luka before him had already fallen asleep before he can even ask. Why?
Tsukasa sighed as he looked at the roughly drawn and definitely thousand year old map, clicking his tongue when he finally left the room.
"Am I even going to reach first day tomorrow?!"
It was roughly around at the break of dawn that he finally reached it. His assigned dorm that was located way harshly away from the main school building, as if its sole purpose was isolating whoever resided there.
In front of him was a decently medium sized dorm building. Though despite its size, it looked very pathetically run down and broken up. The original structure was barely even noticeable anymore with several mechanical parts added to the house itself.
Then some parts of the house looked like something it had exploded inside of it resulting in needing to be covered with metal sheets.
Several graffiti were all around the side of the building , but mainly the biggest one was put on a wooden poorly built sign on the side right by the entrance of this seemingly hell hole dubbed apparently as;
'FANTASISTA SQUAD'
Tsukasa was just about living off of fumes and pure will right now had uttered weakly.
"W-w-what a lovely place...maybe it's better on the insi-"
A large explosion that nearly killed our main protagonist due to falling debris immediately came out of the upper left side of the dorm rooms, then followed by the yelling of several people, one faintly familiar to Tsukasa.
"Fufufu~! What a splendid reaction indeed! Help me take down some notes Aoyagi-kun"
"Tch, Oi! I told you to keep the explosions down or don’t let me trash your damn room again Kamishiro-senpai"
"Akito, sorry about the noise. We're testing out Kamishiro-senpai's new invention."
"Ahh! Ahhh you guys! Don't make too much noise in the dorms! Atleast invite me over"
"Huh. What kind of dorm manager even enables destroying their own dorm without doing a single thing?! You useless dorm keeper!"
Tsukasa's eye visibly twitched as he watched said useless dorm keeper get kicked out of the front door.
"T-this is where I'm staying...?"
"Oww oww....Akito-kun's so mean sometimes...hmm?"
The apparent dorm room manager that Tsukasa was aforementioned during his frustrating talk with the sleepy Luka-sensei.
Tsukasa and he made eye contact, even though Tsukasa wishes they didn’t.
“Ah! Hello there, did someone here ask for you? Sorry but if it's Rui then I kindly ask you to leave for your own safety hehe"
The blue haired man chuckled off calmly while another explosion went off behind him.
Tsukasa sighed choosing to just ignore that.
"Kaito-san…? Ms. Luka, the sleeping one... sent me here since I'll be living here apparently. Please tell me if this is where I die…"
The man raises an eyebrow and starts thinking very hardly for an awkward amount of time.
"Ah! Now I remember. You must be the talentless human transferee right? Hehe sorry, it's hard to get updated when we live so far away hahahaha! I'm Kaito by the way the dorm manager"
Tsukasa immediately composed himself again, releasing all his fatigue as if waiting for this moment.
“Then it is I! TENMA! as in, a pegas-“
Which abruptly got cut off when another explosion went off again, which was seemingly enough for the man of theatrics to just proceed with the next line.
Kaito waves it off with a bright smile
"Be careful because even if the chances of dying are low, its never zero! Though I guess even if you died, Rui would just put you back together"
"What did you just sa-“
Before Tsukasa could even finish, Kaito took it upon himself to lead the tour through the dorm.
"This dorm's name for starters, is technically called Juvenile Placement! but we like to spice it up. So we came up with Fantasista Squad! I got beaten up by someone because it sounded lame but I think its pretty fun!"
Tsukasa quipped already dreading staying here.
"Getting named something like Juvenile altogether really isn't a good start though..."
Heading inside, the interior was surprisingly very cozy. Many of which wasn't as run down on the outside, which was pretty impressive to Tsukasa considering how normal explosions are in this dorm apparently.
As Kaito lead him to the common room.
"This is the first floor, this is mostly where the shared kitchen is. laundry area is outside, we also have a living room, and then dining room! Its been a while though since we all ate at one table.”
Tsukasa though noticed how Kaito did faintly want to use this dining area with everyone there
Oh but if you're gonna use the fridge in the kitchen, it's better you put a lock it magic seal on it or else someone's gonna devour the whole thing"
Kaito adds, then starts showing him the other kitchen utensils.
Tsukasa raised an eyebrow
"What kind of greedy glut-"
"Aaanddd~ upstairs will be our dorm rooms and so on forward!"
Kaito excitedly dragged Tsukasa and his bag of luggage to the second floor almost as if he was gonna get killed if he ever finished that sentence.
Heading up the stairs, Tsukasa could only count up to only 4 rooms. Two were still very much in tack, one other had graffiti and some skull drawings, while the last one looked broken down, had several claw marks at the door looked like it survived countless bombs within the room.
Kaito pointed to each of the rooms
“The first one here is Touya-kun’s room, you can tell from the neat and tidy door. I think he’s still working in Rui-kun’s room, Touya-kun’s a vampire, a strong one at that. Though he also grew up sheltered so he’s pretty lethal when in the wrong influences though, like Rui-kun for example!”
Tsukasa’s eyes followed the next room and judging from the blown up and heavily repared room, this Rui fellow was the cause of about 100% of the inner terrorist attacks in this dorm specifically.
“This next room is Rui-kun’s. The resident mad genius inventor of this school, Oh! And he’s also an octopus hybrid which explains his smarts I think? He’ll be happy to help with whatever you need, chances are if you’ll be able to survive to ask him next time though!”
Tsukasa had just about had it with these increasingly alarming and concerning borderline criminal dorm mates.
Kaito then had skipped over the ones with graffiti and skull drawings.
“That’s Akito-kun’s room, he’s very um, short-fused so let’s not anger him while he’s asleep!”
Lastly Kaito opened the room at the furthest back, explaining that this is Tsukasa’s room where he’ll be staying for the next 3 years, if he’s lucky to survive.
"Here’s where you will be staying Tsuka-"
The two froze seeing a particular dog-eared hybrid who also froze upon seeing them, as he was just about to dig in some noticeably made and decorated pancakes.
Tsukasa and the ginger stared at each other before pointing accusingly
‘ITS YOU” “ITS YOU”
“That loudmouth’
“The rude delinquent”
As the two glared at each other, olive eyes meeting amber colored ones.
Kaito just chuckled at the awkward meeting, though his attention was merely on the pancakes the ginger delinquent was holding like sacred treasure.
“A-akito-kun.. I was supposed to eat that hehe…”
This so called Akito merely rolled his eyes at him then leered at Tsukasa.
“So you’re the new guy huh. Fine. Since you’re here right now. Though I bet a lackluster guy who cant even do magic will survive at this school, let alone this dorm”
Tsukasa just clashed looks with him, eyes flaring competitively.
“Oh-ho~ Is that a challenge I hear Akito! Very well, I, Tsukasa Tenma! greatfully accept it!”
Akito merely scoffs, exiting the door, though his tail wagging a bit at that interaction. He pauses to look at Tsukasa condescendingly
“Shinonome, Shinonome Akito, Try not to die human”
Saying coolly before returning to his own room-
Though just as Kaito was about to happily reclaim his stolen pancakes, Akito quickly snatched it from the window he jumped on just next door
“It’s mine now”
Kaito just grumbled as his pancakes were once again stolen by Akito like it had been a natural occurrence.
"I planned to eat that later..."
Kaito said on the verge of tears.
“Well, enjoy your stay Tsukasa-kun. I’m gonna go cry in the basement…which also works as my bedroom by the way!”
Tsukasa sighed, too tired to continue this just then collapsed on the small tidied up bed. He had a lot to think about, what even he was doing here in a magic school when he could have been in performing arts schools instead.
But what he has now is that,
“I’ll clear my head with a bit of cleaning up”
And so Tsukasa did, cleaned as he go. He was always a bit of a minimalist. Though his room wasn’t as clustered back then as he had to leave his keepsakes at home.
So he set up his dorm room quite nicely, and more organized than it should've been.
"Hopefully I don't have to fix these every minute from the explosions..."
Too much had happened today, he might not even be able to live past tomorrow and yet a strange feeling of excitement went over him. Immediately revitalizing him back at full stamina.
"Alright Tsukasa. This is just what I needed! A very harsh and ultimately pathetic school life, because when I overcome these band of misfits. I'll become the greatest star ever! HA HA HA! HA HA HA! HAAA HAAA HAAA!"
Everyone in the dorms then felt like a large sized speaker just appeared in their dorms with how loud that was reaching about the same decibels as a jet airplane.
"Ufufufu, looks like we got someone interesting"
"Tch...That guy...so annoying..."
"It's been a while since we had someone new"
Now the Fantasista Squad of misfits now have a new player in their rankings. Which may or may not have been a good thing for Kamiyama High.
But Tsukasa won’t give up, with intense resolve and a stubborn head
“Once again Kamiyama High! I am TENMA! as in, a pegasus racing through the sky! TSUKASA! as in, ruling the world! Yes. My name is- TENMA TSUKASA! The man born to become a STAR! I, TENMA TSUKASA, a future star! The man who shines too bright, TENMA TSUKASA! The man who creates miracles, TENMA TSUKASA! As well as… the man who will be the most special not special student at this magic academy! ME! TSUKASAAAA TENMAAAA!”
Ending it off with a coincidentally timed explosion from Rui’s room to boot.
