Work Text:

Roman blinked multiple times with great effort, struggling to even lift his eyelids the tiniest bit. Everything was blurry and there was a dark tint at the corners of his vision, just like when he hit his head back then, when the project failed...

"Shit, someone really got me good, huh.. " he thought, attempting to look around, but it seemed like this was out of the picture when a burning sensation begun near the back of his head, causing the man to wince in pain. This wasn't his first time in a situation like this, so Roman knew better than to make any sounds, gritting his teeth to stop himself from grunting. The feeling stopped after a while, but unfortunately for the businessman, he repeated the same mistake when a noise came from what appeared to be the entrance.

In the doorway stood a silhouette of a man, who was grinning widely. Roman could tell because the stranger's crooked teeth reflected light that was coming from a flickering lamp that stood in the corner. As if the situation amused him, the (likely) culprit of Roman's misery stepped forward, starting his villain monologue. For a moment, the russian felt happy for still being disoriented, since it meant not being able to hear whatever bullshit this crazy guy was telling him. And the other man was crazy, without a doubt! That posture, that wicked smirk, and especially the lab coat, covered in dark stains.. All of this reinforced the idea in Roman's head, that he had been captured by some insane scientist, and will perish soon.. Maybe he'll talk his way out, like he always does..? If this won't work, nothing will. But he just couldn't think of any smooth words to ease his situation, his mind was completely blank, and the throbbing pain came back. The voice started clearing out, though...

- Well... Well... Well. - he drawled, leaning towards Roman as he walked - Would you look at that! Finally awake. Took you long enough, I must say!

His voice was almost cheerful, as if this whole thing was a normal day's occurrence. Completely nothing out of the ordinary.. This completely threw Roman off, he didn't expect his kidnapper to be so.. well, goofy was the only thing he could think of when listening to him. But other than that, the room's ominous atmosphere didn't change, Roman's eyes still glued to the, most definitely, blood, despite still not being able to see to the full extent. Normally, his vision was absolutely flawless! He was perfect in all means, or so he thought, until it was proven to him that he wasn't so good at avoiding psychos or kidnappers. It's like they were drawn to him.

After a few weak attempts at answering the taunt, the russian gave up, closing his mouth, just to stare up at the stranger. His throat felt dry, not allowing him to let out even one word. The scientist took the silence as an invitation to continue..

- You may be wondering how you got here. - This earned him a nod from the russian. For some reason, he felt like this nutjob has said this thing a million time by now – it sounded so practiced, so generic.. Like some stupid antagonist in a cartoon. But this was real life. This dude had to have some issues..

To the best of his capability, the businessman watched his captors every move, as he walked around the room. When he moved closer to the only source of light, Roman couldn't help but shudder in undeniable shock and disgust. A whole half of this psycho's face was.. Roman gagged despite his best efforts. The light uncovered an enormous scar visible on the right side of the scientist's head, looking like a byproduct of burning flesh. By all means, it was highly disturbing.

- So... Let me tell you why, since you're this eager to know the reason.. - he continued, turning around, now with his back to the light. This move causing his face to be enveloped by shadows of this dimly lit room - I've been watching you lovely person... For quite the while now, maybe two months at the very least...

Roman's frown deepened. What the hell did this mean? Was this some kind of stalker or what? Or even worse, someone who knew him from his previous projects as a scientists.. Either way, this didn't look good at all. And what's up with this man calling him lovely..? Roman spiralled deeper into his weird theories and worries, until he was snapped out of them by a loud crash, and the scientist muttering a quiet "oops.." under his breath while cleaning the mess he made. The russian recalled that he now has regained his eyesight, and looked around, taking in his "cell". It looked remotely similar to an operating room, but everything was just so dirty and unkept..

With a sigh, the scientist clapped his hands together, cleaning them from the dust and leftower powder he was tidying up.

- Where was I again.. Oh, right! - the grin returned onto his face as he looked down on Roman with folded hands - I've noticed how... Strange you've been acting lately.. Black stools, nausea, yada yada..

With a gesture of his hand, he brought the russian's attention to a small object on the table next to him, although he couldn't see what it was.. He cleared his throat, preparing himself to retort.

- Were you stalking me? - the man asked outright, his tone flat and accusatory. The question was rhetorical – the answer was already obvious to both of them.. - And what the hell are you pointing at ?!..

Despite Roman's outburst, that smile on the scientist's face didn't waver, probably growing even wider, if that was possible. He reached to take the said object carefully, walking over to the chair and presenting it to the other man on an outstretched hand.

- Hm.. Not really! I honestly prefer the term "watching", but anyway.. - he shifted slightly, letting the light fall onto his hand and giving Roman a better view - I figured the cause of your recent state !

On the scientist's hand was sitting a deformed mass consisting of muscles and tissue, clearly a tumor. One wasn't required to be a doctor of any kind to understand what was in front of them. Meanwhile, the man was showing off the cancerous growth like it was some kind of twisted trophy to be proud of..

- There's no need to thank me, it was my pleasure to help! I'd gladly repeat this if I had the chance to.. - He straightened up, putting the disgusting object away.

It took a few moment for Roman to register what was happening.. It all felt too surreal..

- Let me get this straight.. - he responded, not trying to hide the bite in his voice. It was in his favor to make sure that this psycho knew that he was irritated and definitely not grateful for such procedures - You kidnapped me, only to remove a whole ass tumor from most probably my stomach, and stalking me on top of that ?!?..

- Yep ! That sounds just about right. - he giggled

- This must be just some bad dream ....

Roman sank back into his chair, muttering curses in russian and resigning himself to the gate that awaited him.
