Work Text:

Ritsu sat at his desk, working diligently on schoolwork. Usually, he would have never even thought about possibly missing or failing a piece of work, but since the day Shigeo had finally gone rogue- he was a bit shaken up. He'd gotten up later everyday, because he ended up staying up so late every night. (And not exactly by choice.) He finally decided to get his act together, and his makeup session ran late into the night. At one point, his brother had come in.

"Hey, Ritsu?" Shigeo said, as he entered the room. Ritsu didn't look up, finishing the problem. "Oh, hey Shige. What's up?" He smiled kindly, though he didn't bother looking up. "Oh, um...I just was worrying about how late you were staying up. I know it's the weekend, but maybe you should get some rest." Shigeo smiled back, though his eyebrows knitted together. "I'm okay, brother. I'll go to sleep soon, I just want to get this assignment done." Shigeo didn't respond for a moment, noticing Ritsu's overly truthful tone. "Alright then." Shigeo replied, backing out of the room and closing the door. "Goodnight." He said sincerely. Ritsu echoed his words, turning back to the stack of assignments he'd ignored for almost a week and a half. Before all this, when he'd hear people complain about the amount of assignments, he couldn't understand. He did all of his assignments quickly and with grace, but now he understood to the fullest. Missing one assignment could leave you scrambling to catch up.

Back In the present, Ritsu had placed down his pen. It'd started hurting because of just how hard he was gripping it. He rubbed the sore parts of his palm, sighing. He didn't feel good about lying to his brother. But he didn't want to burden him. Not now, when he was finally branching out. While he was focused on his hand, his eyes wandered to his clothes. He was still wearing his uniform. He should probably change before he forgets to. He stood, opening his closet and slipping off his jacket, and unbuttoning his collared shirt. Just as he was about to change into his pajamas, he was startled by a knock on his window. He jumped, jerking his head towards the door, face red. He recognized the blue eyes glowing through the glass first.

"S-Shou! What are you doing here?!" He whispered harshly. He yanked open the window, Shou jumping onto him within seconds. "Hey, Rits! You miss me?" The redhead said, clinging to Ritsu's chest. Ritsu's face went blood red. He waved his arms around, before shoving Shou onto his bed. "I saw you like- two days ago. Don't say stupid things." He murmured. "Also, be quiet. If my brother hears us, we're toast." It's weird. He seemed to only get like this when Shou was around. "Okay, okay, fine." Shou said, significantly quieter. He stood, searching the room. "You're up doing work again? Lame!" Shou said, peering down at Ritsu's messy assignment filled desk. "You only say that because you think school is pointless." He sighs, fixing the pages on his desk into a neat pile. "Also- why don't you have a shirt on?" Shou giggles slightly, seeing the heat cover Ritsu's face once again.

"You're the one who came in the middle of me changing!" He said, slightly louder. Shou placed a finger to Ritsu's mouth. "It's not like I mind, anyway." He smirked, knowing that even the lightest of teasing would send Ritsu into a coma. Ritsu paused, barely able to process his words. "Shut the hell up, Suzuki!" He pushed Shou away using his powers, turning away to put a (more comfortable) shirt back on. Shou only laughed into his palm. "You're so easy to mess with, Rits." He says, looking up at him with those bright eyes. Ritsu sighs, settling next to him. He'd calmed down a bit.

"Why are you here so late?" Ritsu said, crossing his legs. Shou smiles thinly. "Why are you up so late?" Shou leans closer, their elbows touching. "You have eyebags, you should be sleeping by now. You usually are sleeping by now." Shou said, trying to hide his worried tone. It didn't work. Ritsu felt a heavy urge to just let it all out. Tell Shou everything. But he hesitated. His mind ran through every dreary scenario where Shou left Ritsu alone in his room. So he held his breath. "I'm just studying. I lost track of time." He said, exhaling. Shou's eyes scattered around his face, trying to see how he was truly feeling. Ritsu gave him a reassuring smile. Shou backed off. For now.

The redhead placed his head on Ritsu's shoulder. It wasn't uncommon for him to do so. "I just wanted to see you, I guess. Every time I try to fall asleep, you invade my brain." He makes an odd hand motion. "So...I came to visit you." Shou looked down, slightly embarrassed. The mentioned raven-haired boy raised his hand, placing it on Shou's shoulder. "You're creepy." He felt his cheeks redden just a tad. Shou only laughed softly. "You know you love me." Ritsu rolled his eyes at Shou's words, pushing him off the bed. "I don't know," He stood, Shou watching from his spot on the ground. "I'm gonna keep studying. Stay if you want." He sits back in his chair, pulling out another assignment from his stack. It wasn't long before Shou was resting his head on Ritsu's, trying to get him to hang out.

"Ritsu." Shou said, placing his chin on the top of Ritsu's head. No response. "Riiiiichan." He said in a singsong voice. Ritsu was already working on a problem. "Riichan." Shou repeated, poking Ritsu's cheeks. Ritsu swatted his hand away. Jackpot! Shou repeated this for a whole minute, before finally reaching Ritsu's breaking point. He turned his chair around, his face showing just how annoyed he was. "I thought I said not to call me...Riichan." He hissed. Shou held back a laugh. "I came all this way, can't we hang out, Riichan?" Ritsu tackled Shou into the bed, Shou finally getting what he wanted. Ritsu made sure Shou was distracted, (he was giggling so hard he couldn't stand and he stood, trying to escape back to his "study dungeon."

However, he felt a warm aura physically stop him from moving. And instead of walking forward, he was being dragged back towards Shou. Ritsu scoffed. "You cannot be serious." He grumbled as Shou held him in place. "C'mon...relax. You've done enough studying." Shou says, more sincerely than before. Ritsu stared into his eyes, pleading and hopeful. Slowly, he felt the tips of his ears warm.

"Fine!" He huffed, Shou finally letting him free as he sat next to the redhead. Shou smiled again. "My begging face works well on you." He said, wrapping his arms around Ritsu. "Now that I don't need to compete with paper; let's have a sleepover!" Ritsu almost smiled. "Even If I tried to sleep, you'd be cuddling me all night." He sighed. Shou pulled them down, proving Ritsu right immediately as he pulled him closer from behind, spooning him. "I'm just trying to show my love." He said. Ritsu turned towards Shou, pushing him off. "If you're gonna cuddle me, I'm the big spoon. I'm taller than you." Shou seemed to be surprised for a moment. He smirked. "How about we both be the big spoon and face each other and just stare into each other's eyes all night?" Ritsu covered Shou's mouth. "Shut up. I'd die if my brother heard that." Shou paused. Ritsu had leaned closer, and the two were only inches apart. Ritsu seemed to notice the tension, face getting red. "What? He huffed, trying to turn his face away.

Instead of letting him, Shou placed his hand on Ritsu's cheek, pulling his face back to where it was. The silence stretched on. Shou watched as the red in Ritsu's face spread down his neck slightly; his ears flushing red. Shou gulped. "Ritsu, I...kind of really want to kiss you." he murmured. "Is that stupid?" Ritsu scowled. "...It's creepy." He said, voice a bit shaky. Even as nerves made Ritsu's hands sweat, and his brain told him to "stop being an idiot", and to "pull away." Yet his heart pushed him forward.

Their lips met each other's, in a messy, inexperienced first kiss. Shou's eyes were wide, and his face flushed a heavy red. He finally let himself relax into the kiss, his arms coming up to wrap around Ritsu's neck. In said boy's mind, he was going insane. His thoughts were jumping around in his head like bugs. Despite the overwhelming feeling of it all, Ritsu felt his mind fading slowly into the distance, replaced with a light, exciting feeling instead. As for Shou, he was on cloud nine. From the start of the kiss, Shou was melting, holding onto Ritsu for dear life. He definitely didn't expect Ritsu to initiate it, but he wasn't one to complain.

"Ritsu?" Called a quiet voice.

Ritsu jumped. Shou tumbled onto the floor, and Ritsu panicked, using his powers to catch Shou before he hit the floor. They both paused, Shou seeming confused. The door opened.

Shigeo, Ritsu, and Shou all stared at each other in silence.

"Suzuki-?" Shigeo began. He was interrupted by Ritsu. "Shige! W-why are you up...?" Ritsu knew his face was still red. And Shou's was too. Shou had taken a blanket down with him, the situation looking quite clear if you put two and two together. Shigeo's eyes went from Ritsu to Shou, his eyes slowly widening. "What were you two doing?"

"Nothing!" Both said, at nearly the same time. Shou a bit less desperately than the other.

"Suzuki...?" Shigeo repeated. It was clear that Shigeo was overly protective. Ritsu jumped from his bed, still red. He pushed Shigeo out of the room. "OKAY I NEED TO TALK TO BROTHER NOW GIVEMEASECOND-" The door shut behind them, and Shou could only watch. But the only thing he could really focus on was the kiss. Shou felt his lips gently, which were curled up into a bright smile. He giggled a bit, his heart feeling extremely light.

When Ritsu returned, he sighed, rubbing his neck nervously. "My brother said you have to leave, Suzuki." He said, a bit shakily. "What a downer..." Shou mumbled. He stood, shaking the blanket off. "So um..." Shou began. "How are you feeling...?" He asked awkwardly. Ritsu flushed again, right when he finally calmed down. "Horrible..." Shou raised his eyebrow. "....Fine. I feel great. Now get out!" He says louder, pushing him towards the window. Shou smiled brighter. "Fine, fine! I just wanted to hear you say it..." Shou giggled. Ritsu groaned, covering his face. Before Shou slipped out, Shou took Ritsu's hands away from his face, pressing another kiss to Ritsu's lips. This kiss was just as awkward, but to the two of them, it was the only thing that mattered.

When Shou pulled away, he was still smiling. "I'll be leaving now, my lady." he said. The other boy huffed, practically pushing him out the window. "Love you!" Shou said, as Ritsu was closing the window.

"I hate you, too." Ritsu responded. It might sound harsh, but Shou knew exactly what it meant.
