Parrot was perched tiredly on the wooden swing far out past his new castle. His civilization was finally safe. Horace finally locked the hell in and finished building. It was everything Parrot had envisioned, and more, but… was he really fit for this kind of life?
Was he really going to keep everyone safe here, or would this fail just like every other thing he’d done thus far?
What if the mafia finds them?!
What if Boosfer really does actually win the election?!
What would he do?!
“Hey,” a voice interrupted Parrot's thoughts, causing him to turn his head towards the sound.
“Oh, Wifies, hey!” Parrot sighed and scooted over, patting the spot next to him, offering Wifies a seat, which the dog-hybrid took promptly. Parrot turned towards his friend. He looked almost ghastly with the ring of light that was emanating from the castle behind wrapped around his body, creating a thin atmosphere around him.
“What’s up, dude?” Wifies asked.
Parrot shrugged and turned his head to the floor and picked at the loose gravel and dirt below the wooden swing, before replying softly.
“I dunno dude, I just… Don’t feel like I’m fit, or like, prepared for this… There's just so much that I want to do, but… I can't! There are so many people I want to help, but I just have this awful feeling it’s going to go wrong, and, and, there's Boosfer and… Ughhh I just…”
He groaned as he looked up at the dark sky. Just as he did, a flash of vibrant purple emanated through the sky, casting a striking, vibrant purple glow across the land scattered throughout the End Dimension.
“Are you kidding me, Parrot? There’s nobody on this server more capable of protecting these people than you,” Wifies insisted. “You were, and still are, so determined to do this, and when ParrotX2 is determined to get something done, then he gets it done. Don't let that stupid green bum get you down, dude; he could never do what you've done for these guys.”
Parrot looked down from the sky to look at his companion.
He was right, he was always right, he was Wifies.
He knew Parrot better than anyone else.
Parrot opened his mouth to speak, but couldn’t come up with anything to say.
“...Bro, that’s… gay…” he embarrassingly sighed, looking down to the dirt floor again.
“Was it?” The grin across Wifies face was nearly audible.
Parrot's wings flared up intrusively, twitched, drooped down back to his balled up body and began to quiver as he started to aggressively dig up the dirt with his fingers, getting rocks and dirt under his fingernails.
“Shut up, bro,” he hissed.
Wifies sighed and stood up from the swing. “I get that you're scared, but you're the ruler of a civilization now, you have to lock in, bro.”
He sighed and began to walk away, only to be pulled back by Parrot from the hem of his sweater.
“Yeah?” Wifies asked, turning his head to look back at the cowering Parrot, his tail betraying him and wagging softly as he did.
“Well, I-”
“Hi guys!” Dean cheered, dropping onto the floor from his elytra.
“...Hi Dean…” Wifies hissed, narrowing their eyes at the man.
“Hi,” Dean grinned idiotically, not a thought in his head.
Parrot sighed in relief.
“Did you need anything?” Wifies asked begrudgingly and almost impatiently.
The other man shook his head dully. It seemed as though Dean had interrupted Parrot and Wifies moment for no reason other than to satisfy his own boredom. It was annoying, to say the least, he’d done this too many times already, and Wifies didn’t exactly seem to exactly ‘enjoy’ his company.
“Did I like, interrupt something?” Dean questioned, bringing his index finger to his chin.
“No,” Parrot grinned.
“Yes,” Wifies grumbled on the contrary.
“Oh, okay, my bad, I'm gonna go now, I left my chicken in the furnace,” Dean stated, putting his elytra back on and pulling out a rocket.
“He really is… something, huh? Man, what an idiot,” Wifies mumbled under his breath just loud enough for Parrot to hear as they watched the other man fumble the rocket in his hands before starting to fly away.
Sure, he was a bit slow in the head, but he was their friend. It stung a little bit that Wifies, his best friend, disliked anyone Parrot considered a friend, but it wouldn’t be the first time. Maybe he was jealous, or he really just hated how simple-minded Dean was, or something like that.
Dean was barely in the sky before Wifies turned his torso towards Parrot, which caused the avian to repress his hold on the sweater that was still somehow clenched in his fist.
“What did you want to tell me before Dean interrupted us?” Wifies asked.
Parrot quickly covered the upper portion of his body with his wings just as his face flushed bright red at the topic change. “Nothing, just forget about it, bro.”
“Hm… Alright, I’ll be on my way then!” Wifies taunted, turning once again to leave.
“No, Wifies…” Parrot mumbled quietly, half hoping Wifies wouldn’t hear him and continue walking away.
But woe is Parrot, because the sound of the loose gravel under Wifies feet stopped.
“Are you gonna actually talk to me, or chicken out again, Parrot?” Wifies chuckled; he stayed with his back facing Parrot as he spoke but against his will his ears perked up as parrot spoke.
“I… Do you really think I can do it alone…?” Parrot whispered.
“Do you want to do it alone?”
Parrot’s wings loosened up and drooped to the icy-cold floor. He turned his head towards Wifies, who was plucking a stray flower from the dirt.
Did Parrot want to…
Of course, Parrot doesn’t want to do this alone!
Who does Wifies think he is, why would Parrot ever want to do this by himself?!
Wifies was supposed to be a genius, how could he just ask that?! Doesn’t he notice how much Parrot was-
…Ughhhh, stupid, genius Wifies and his dumb manipulation tactics.
“I want to be able to…” Parrot began, rolling a tiny rock in between his fingers. He continued, “I wish I were just strong enough to do this by myself, but…” He looked up at Wifies again, who had finished picking the flower. It was a poppy; he held it between his thumb and index finger and turned his head down to look at Parrot. Wifies eyes met his, the dark hues of the End Dimension made him look so… So… Pretty?
“But what?” Wifies teased, tucking the poppy into the space between Parrot's ear and scalp.
“But I need someone else, I can’t- I don't want to do this all alone…”
“Good thing you don't have to, you have me, Parrot,” Wifies muttered, sinking down to the same level as Parrot while he moved his hand to the top of Parrot’s head. His fingers intertwined into the avian’s hair and pet him softly.
He had a soft, bittersweet grin plastered on his face that shone brightly from another wave of purple light in the vast distance. The purple undertones of his eyes brightened, and he almost looked god-like. The way he stuck out to Parrot, it felt like he’d just freed him from the chunkban all over again with the way he was wagging his tail. It felt like he was his again.
“Should we go back?” Wifies asked, his voice emanating from the silence that had just been in its place.
Parrot shook his head softly, looking back to the ground. There was a small hole in the dirt that Parrot had accidentally dug up; he'd have to fix it later with the pile of dirt that sat next to it.
“Hmm, are you tryna fish for compliments, Parrot? Want me to tell you what kinda good job you’re doing? Is that what ‘you not wanting to go back yet’ is?” Wifies ridiculed, poking Parrot's cheek with his free hand as he did.
“Pffh, as if! You always give awful compliments anyway, why would I do that!” Parrot nagged, turning his attention and face back to Wifies.
“Oh, really?” Wifies combatted.
The avian chuckled and bit, “Try me, bro.”
Wifies smirked and pinched Parrot's cheek for a millisecond before he quipped, “Well, you’re really smart.”
“Booooringg!” Parrot shot back, flicking Wifies's nose.
“Ugh, you’re boring,” Wifies mumbled before pausing to think. “Ahah! You’re persistent, how’s that?”
Parrot yawned and rolled his eyes in response, causing Wifies to groan and really think.
“Handsome…”
“Huh?” Parrot faltered, almost falling backwards.
“I said that you’re handsome,” Wifies remarked, flicking Parrot lightly in the space right between his eyes.
“Y-you can't just say stuff like that, Wifies,” Parrot breathed, shifting his gaze towards the hole in the ground.
The other man let out a celebratory hum and whispered softly into Parrot's ear.
“Looks like I am, in fact, good at giving compliments; it's honestly pretty cute how you got so flustered over something as obvious and simple as that.”
Parrot shuddered and felt his wings fluff up and settle. Wifies breath shook slightly against Parrot's ear, reminding him that he was there.
“Your wings… They're shaped like a heart, that's…” Wifies voice lowered as he spoke just above a whisper, “adorable.”
He trailed his hand down Parrot's neck and started to run his fingers through Parrot's wings, massaging the base of each feather with tender care.
“A-are you preening my wings?” Parrot hesitated, leaning into the touch even though his voice sounded worried.
“Is that what this is?” Wifies asked.
“Mhm…” Parrot hummed, closing his eyes and leaning into the touch more.
It was so nice and warm, and it felt perfect. It felt… really so good, like really…
Nope, not today! Parrot knew what would happen if he let this play out; he needed to be locked in. It was Wifies, he needed to lock in.
…
It's so warm…
NO, LOCK IN PARROT!
Parrot shook his head aggressively, trying to keep himself from losing his sanity and self-control.
“Does this feel good?” Wifies asked while straightening a feather. He was basically mocking Parrot's incapacity to respond.
Parrot sluggishly nodded, his head falling onto Wifies shoulder in a daze.
“Uh… Parrot? You good?” Wifies questioned, prodding the avian's face and pulling his hand out of his wings.
Parrot whined for a second from the loss and then realized how bad that would sound to Wifies, he probably didn’t even know that preening is sensitive. He blinked abruptly to wake himself up and turned to his companion.
“S-sorry, preening… like… does stuff to birds and like-” Parrot stuttered, flailing his arms out in defence, only for them to be grabbed by Wifies softly.
“Sorry for that… I, weirdly enough, didn’t know that about wings,” he apologized softly. “Is it like… a ‘sensitive’ spot?”
Parrot cringed and nodded.
“Ah, makes sense why you kept making those noises, then.”
“I was making noises?!” Parrot croaked, pulling his hands away in shock.
Wifies nodded softly and patted Parrot on the head sympathetically. Parrot chose to ignore the loud thumping sound of Wifies tail hitting the floor as it wagged.
“God…” Parrot murmured as he slid his face into his hands.
“It’s okay, dude, I didn’t mind.” Wifies sighed, looking away from Parrot for a second to mumble, “It was pretty.”
Parrot looked up at Wifies and groaned.
“You know you're not slick, right? I can hear you whisper these things, and I can absolutely hear your happy little tail…”
“No, I know, don't worry, I’ve been hoping you’d hear soon,” Wifies trailed off, cupping Parrot's cheek in his hand.
Parrot inspected Wifies flustered face and how a droplet of sweat slid down his forehead. The poor guy looked so madly in love, his pupils were dilated to oblivion, his tail was basically whipping the floor at this point, and a nervous smile played across his rosy lips.
Parrot felt his chest melt a little bit and bit the inside of his cheek as he leaned it into Wifies hand. Wifies looked like an absolute wreck, and it was really having an effect on Parrot.
“Y’know, it felt really nice,” Parrot mumbled softly, regretting it the moment it left his mouth.
“Good to know,” Wifies cooed as he inched his face closer to Parrots.
Parrot felt his hands move on their own up to grab the hair on the back of Wifies's head.
“Is it, now?” Parrot breathed out teasingly, his heart racing in his chest so fast it was almost painful.
“Good for moments like this,” Wifies faltered, his heartbeat syncing up to the rhythm his tail hit the floor.
“Are you gonna kiss me?” Parrot implored, rather than asked.
“Can I?!” Wifies gushed, his ears perking up excitedly.
Parrot quickly narrowed his eyes at the dog and groaned while rolling his eyes, “Duh.”
Wifies grinned lazily and softly pecked Parrot's lips.
“You call that a kiss?” Parrot teased, grinning just as dumbly as Wifies had moments before.
Wifies lurked back to Parrot's face and pressed his mouth against the avian's, their lips clashing a bit before Parrot bit down on Wifies bottom lip, and the dog opened his mouth for the other to slip his tongue in. Parrot felt his way around Wifies mouth, mapping out each and every sharp and flat tooth with a hunger that he’d never had before. He felt a pit fall in his stomach when their tongues met, and they both pulled back, gasping for air.
“I-if you wanna keep going, it's all yours,” Wifies panted, grinning at Parrot.
“Oh, shut up,” Parrot groaned.
The avian stretched out his wings and stood up from the floor, extending a hand out to Wifies.
“You ready to rule a civilization?” Parrot asked.
Wifies took Parrot's hand and pulled himself up.
“Together?”
“Yeah, bro, always.”
“Okay, darling, I think we’re past calling each other ‘bro’…”
