Chapter Text
Summers are meant to be fun. Or at least they were meant to be fun, when you had a stable job to support your outlandish activities, or, someone else had the job to support your outlandish activities.
With all of that considered, V1’s summers weren't fun, considering the fact the only people it had close to it was its sister and her girlfriend, who were also broke students.
But maybe, just maybe, this summer could be different.
It was V2’s idea; she had suggested they should move to a small town, living in the big city was expensive and when there’s so many people, your chances of getting hired for a job was a lot lower, compared to a small city.
V1 was against the idea at first. It wanted a fun summer in the city, not to spend its vacation time in a small town, smelling animal shit and old people.
‘’I’m not doing that’’ V1 said, crossing its arms. V2 was sitting on the other couch, trying to explain that this was their best choice for a comfortable summer that didn’t include them doing monstrous jobs that barely covered their rent.
‘’Ugh- come on! Do you want to lick someone's ass for a job that doesn’t even pay us so we can keep a roof over our head? Because I don’t!’’ V2 yelled in frustration, throwing her arms to the air. V1 did see where she was coming from but a small town? Really?
“I'll get bored in a small town”
“The town I showed you isn't even that small??”
“It is, but your processor is so small that you think it's big!”
“What did you just call me?!”
And with that, V2 jumped over the couch she was seated on, and V1 couldn't just let her attack it, so obviously it fought back.
And now, standing before the boxes ready to be loaded into the car, it was painfully obvious who won the argument.
Mirage, who just finished putting the last box into the car, flashed it an amused look, not trying to hide the fact that she was enjoying It's suffering. VI rolled ıt’s eyes. It was being petty
"Still pissy that you lost? Mirage asked while fixing her bow, which was disheveled from all the manual labor she did moments before. VI refused to entertain her and sat down at the back of the car without causing any more setbacks. It was Mirage's turn to roll her nonexistent eyeball as they both waited for V2 to come.
The ride was less than pleasurable. Mirage was blasting her playlist through the radio of the car, making it want to tear the entire sound system out.
V2 was vibing alongside her girlfriend, even though VI knew this was not her choice in music.
Its sister was "lovesick", as the Internet would put it. Bleg, V1 though, boring.
Not being in the mood for their shenanigans, VI wanted to watch the roadside. To ıts dismay, the roadside was just trees and nothing more. It’s going to be a depressing summer, it was sure.
The forest occupying the roadside was…unsettling. Looking to the seemingly endless forest, who could know what was happening in there? The answer was simple, nobody. V1’s depressing thoughts about its upcoming summer weakened down as they got closer to civilization, creations of sentient beings soothing the weird gut feeling it had.
“Hey V1, did you know that there’s a boarding school here?” V2 ask as they finally enter the town. V1 doesn't like her tone, but it doesn't want to pick a fight right now.
So instead, V1 tilts its head softly, wanting a follow up. A school here? That must suck.
‘’Yeah, it's one of those boarding schools. Most of the town is made out of students.”
Oh V1 though This changed a lot of things. Maybe this summer wasn't going to be all that bad, considering people around their age were going to be present, instead of the old countryside people it imagined.
“And here we are!” V2 said, a bit too proudly according to V1, while standing in front of the house she managed to get a deal and actually buy it from the owner (When V1 asked why would they buy the house if this was just a summer thing, V2 said they could come back every summer for work, and it was cheaper that way. V1 didn't get the chance to ask anything else.) who was a bit too excited to sell it to them for an incredibly cheap price, but V2 assured them that it was fine, because the house looked all healthy.
“I think it's pretty neat” Mirage said after looking around. She had already chosen the bigger room for herself and V2, leaving V1 to the other room. V1 didn't mind, considering it didn't even have clothes like Mirage did. Extra space would be wasted on it.
V1 was more interested in the basement, but before it could go and explore there-
‘’ARE YOU GUYS COMING TO HELP ME OUT?’’ V2 yelled from outside, already having three boxes stacked over in her hands. Mirage groaned loudly, carrying everything inside was definitely going to be a hassle.

When the sun sunk down in the horizon, the machines were finally done with moving in. Mirage was lying on the couch, her head placed to V2’s thighs. V1 was sitting on the other couch, it looked incredibly bored. Moving things wasn’t the kind of violent activity it enjoyed.
‘’I’m going to explore the town’’ It blurted out suddenly, gaining both machines' attention. They looked surprised, considering they probably imagined V1 sitting in its room the whole summer, coming out only to be petty and bitter.
‘’Well good luck..’’ V2 said after V1, who had already reached the door. It gave a small salute back, dashing out of the door to find something interesting.
Walking around the houses, V1 felt like it had been a bit wrong about the town being that small, only a bit though because it was nothing like the big city V1 was used to. There was even a bar, and a houseware store. Not to mention the school. V1 was suspicious about the legal rules being followed by the bar, but it couldn't consume alcohol so that wasn't it's problem.
V1 had only realized that it was walking straight to the beach when it felt the floor underneath him pulling him down. It didn't like the beach, because all the sand was a hassle to clean, but for his first day in the new city, it decided to make an exception.
As the moon slowly started approaching the night sky, a soft breeze carried over to kiss V1’s whole body. It would admit, this was a sensation it would never experience in the city.
Walking a bit more, it realized a shadow at the other side of the beach. So as any curious machine would do, it walked closer until he felt his feet stop by itself.
V1 saw an angel.
No literally, standing right in front of him was an Angel, gazing upon the moon and fallen too deep into his own imagination to notice V1.
After a few seconds of standing there, the angel finally noticed V1, turning his head to acknowledge him.
Or not to acknowledge him, because the Angel looked more shocked than annoyed when he saw a new face.
“Uhh…hi? I never saw you around—”He tried to make a conversation, though it was obvious that he was not expecting company, not to mention a new company from whom he never met.
[You look: Stupid] V1 suddenly beeped. The angel, now looked more annoyed than shocked, gasping dramatically.
“I-I look what—?! I'm not listening to an object with one eye's opinions about how I look!”
V1 felt the excitement filling it's wires. Maybe this stay wasn't going to be too boring, if this angel was going to be around.
[You look: about to cry]
Gabriel got up from where he was sitting, shaking off the sand that stuck to him. He truly looks like he's about to cry. V1 thinks it's fun.
Then the angel does something V1 doesn't think is fun, he kicks the ground and all the sand hits it's face and body, half of it making an escape to it's inner systems.
V1 is too shocked to move before it starts violently shaking it's head to remove all the dirt. The angel snickers at it, looking proud of the disaster he created.
V1 grabs a handful of sand from the ground and throws it right onto the angel's face. The mask he's wearing stops anything from touching his face, but he seems annoyed just from the fact V1 had the courage to do something like this.
So when the angel strikes back instead of leaving the score at 1:1, V1 has no intention of being the bigger person. That's the reason why after her siblings exploration took too long, a kinda worried kinda annoyed V2 decides to look for it and finds it sand-Fighting with an Angel, both of them covered in wet sand.
V2 doesn't know what to be disappointed about, either about the fact that her sibling started a sand fight with an Angel in the exact same day they moved into the new town, or from the fact that an angel was petty enough to fight with her sibling.
Seeing the other machine approaching, The angel lowered his guard down, which was a fatal mistake because he got hit by a big chunk of sand and water mix, thrown by a now celebrating V1. V2 surpassed a laugh down, and fought with everything she had to not get involved with the fight.
Damn it, if she had come earlier, she would've fought alongside Angel to fill V1 with even more sand, though from the way V1 moved, it seemed like the angel did a pretty good job.
“I-Uhhgg- I'm sorry…” The angel tried to hiss out, which was amusing to V2.
“You don't need to apologize”
“Well yeah- I mean- oh nevermind. I'm leaving” The Angel said before leaving in a hurry. V2 was sure he considered flying for a moment, considering his wings itched in anticipation.
She turned her gaze to her sibling, who was still looking after the angel while walking. So she did what any good sister would do, accidentally positioned her leg on its way. It was not her fault that it wasn't looking ahead and face planted on the ground.
