The prince got himself in danger.
... Again.
It was supposed to be a short stealth mission, just to check out a bandit base and get some vehicle parts for their tank. Preferably a cannon.
Right after sniffing the air however, the prince decided he was going in alone.
...If their prince had set his mind on something, there was usually no point in arguing about it. If only the same could be said about his homework...
Still, that didn't mean that Thief wouldn't at least try to talk him out of it. Both were very stubborn demons.
This time though...
...No matter how much Thief tried, he couldn't convince the prince to reconsider.
"Nu-uh."
That was all Thief got from Beelzebub.
And you know what?
Fine.
Thief was not happy about it. But he wasn't really worried either.
Why would he even need to worry in the first place?
He knew their Beelzebub was a very strong creature. A very strong demon. The second strongest demon in the village. No one could match their prince. Well, their king was obviously much stronger. And Belz's sister too.
...
Thief grimaced.
Actually, it was better not to think about it.
Thief decided to spend his time playing poker with Rao.
The game atmosphere was tense.
After a while, even Rao put the cards down and started pacing around the tank.
And while Rao was only starting to get concerned, Thief was already far past that point. The more time passed, the more the demon's worry grew. At a rapid speed.
He knew their prince obviously couldn't get hurt by some humans. No, that would just be completely ridiculous–
But...
... who knows?
What if he finally met his match?
What if he actually got hurt? Enough that he might need some assistance?
And Thief wasn't there to help?
What would King Lucifer do in that case?
What would—
"Do you think we should try and get him out of there?"
Rao asked, eyeing the demon carefully.
Thief blinked.
With a sigh, he pushed the worry aside. He should be laughing at his own hypocrisy.
Heh.
There was no need for any of that 'worry' business. He was just overthinking it.
Thief waved Rao off. "Well, you've seen what power the prince wields... he'll be fine."
As soon as these words left Thief's mouth, something pink and slightly charred bolted right between them at high speed.
"EEEEEYYYPPPP—GUYS, MY TAIL IS ON FIRE! OUT OF THE WAY!"
The wind nearly knocked them off their feet, and a dust cloud formed between them.
Rao and Thief exchanged confused glances.
Then they heard a loud splash.
As expected, the prince got scolded by Thief.
That foolish young fiend had jumped into the river, but he forgot that he couldn't swim too well.
So his friends—mostly Thief—had to fish him out.
Now the prince was sitting on land like a wet raccoon.
A wet, angry raccoon wrapped in Rao's jacket.
