Head Nurse shut the door behind her, she just finished her last surgery and likely her last patient unless something came up on her way home. She allowed herself a small smile, it was nice not having nine different items to carry around everywhere, all she had now was some chocolate and a taser she bought ages ago and never ended up using. Maybe she should give it to Intern, they were new here after all and was more prone to making a deadly mistake than anyone else. But they were working the check in desk today, they already had a taser at their disposal.
Head Nurse walked down the hallway, out of the corner of her eye, she notices Secret Agent getting shoved out of Dr. Harlow's office, as per usual of course. He was the only one that was allowed to enter that office, Head Nurse had worked at the hospital for years and she never saw the inside of it. Not that she really wanted to, she didn't really want much to do with the Doctor. She almost dismissed it before she noticed Secret Agent was a bit more erratic than usual.
He swiped back his ears and fidgeted with his suit for a while, normal sure but his hands were shaking as he did so, so instead of looking professional he seemed a lot more panicked than anything.
Head Nurse wanted to ignore it, Secret Agent was more than capable to care for himself, in fact he was so capable he almost never stopped mentioning it, whenever somebody would offer him some help he always declined and brought up how he was "well enough to do it himself," or "My sanity is likely higher than yours, you should go get some coffee instead." Head Nurse knew he probably didn't mean it in a bad way, but god did he feel condescending at times. But for some reason, this felt... different.
Head Nurse sighed before she finally decided walk over, but as she approached, Secret Agent didn't even glance at her.
"Hey, are you alright?" Head Nurse asked, Secret Agent gasped when she spoke.
"Where did you come from?" He hissed before taking in a deep breath, trying to calm himself. Now Head Nurse was really confused, Secret Agent almost always knew when someone was coming, he could hear it from a mile away. Probably because he was a cat, like her, which made it even more odd. Head Nurse didn't try and sneak over at all, she couldn't imagine being caught off guard that badly herself.
"How high is your sanity?" Head Nurse noticed how rigid his tail stood, just like how her tail stood whenever she was low, in fact, it was odd that his tail was out in the first place, normally they curled them up in their shirts or their pants, uncomfortable sure but it was a health hazard not to.
"High enough, you should worry about your own though, I'll be fine."
Head Nurse rolled her eyes, "Don't try and sell me that, here," Head Nurse held out her chocolate, she hadn't taken a bite out of it yet, she never needed to, her sanity was at a decent amount all shift. Secret Agent eyed the chocolate, his eyes narrowing.
"No thanks, I'll be fine."
"No I insist." Head Nurse brought the chocolate closer to him, "take the chocolate Secret Agent."
His ears flattened, he let out a sigh of defeat before he took the chocolate from Head Nurse, "there, you happy?"
"Eat it."
He sighed and took a bite from the chocolate, "alright, there, I did it."
"Good, I'll go get you a coffee if there's any left." Head Nurse smiled before heading over to the check in room, her ears picking up Secret Agent letting out a small purr of delight.
Head Nurse walked into the check in room, spotting Security and Secretary, both seemed more than ready to go home at this point, couldn't say she didn't feel the same. Security was nodding off before Head Nurse came in, she would go wake her up but Head Nurse decided she deserved a nap at this point. Besides, she had Secret Agent to take care of.
"Any of you want this next coffee?" Head Nurse asked, Security didn't bother answer, just clicking over to a new camera.
"Nah it's alright." Secretary mumbled as he took a photo of some patient, "We're almost finished up here anyways."
"Alright." Head Nurse stood in front of the coffee maker, letting herself lean onto it for a while, before completely laying on the table.
She'd been at work for around 12 hours now, it wasn't anything new, and sometimes she could sneak in little naps whenever Dr. Harlow wasn't breathing down her neck, but working for hours with little to no breaks could get exhausting, still somebody had to do it. Or else god knows how many casualties the anomalies would cause.
She almost dozed off on the table before a loud dinging sounded right into her ear, she let out a startled gasp before realizing the coffee was finally finished. she stood up and stretched, poured the coffee into thee mug before leaving to go and find Secret Agent. He wasn't standing standing where she had last found him, and while she could go check in Dr. Harlow's office, she wanted to get a raise some time this month.
She groaned as she realized he might've left, she sat and made this coffee for him just for him to leave? But now that she thought about it, she never saw Secret Agent check out, nor has she ever seen Secret Agent actually leave the hospital. She shrugged, dismissing the thought, hopefully he was still here, She went to go look for him.
After checking every single room, it was pretty clear he wasn't in the hospital anymore, and the coffee was starting to get lukewarm. She sighed, she could've been headed home by now, but instead she was running around looking for Secret Agent.
"Guess he really did leave," She muttered to herself, walking back down the hallway to leave, before noticing the curtains in room 7 were shut. It made sense, she always shut them whenever she was leaving, but it was also the last spot she hadn't checked.
She let out a dry chuckle, "Why am I trying so hard to find this guy, oh what the hell I've spent long enough looking, might as well get something out of it."
She walked into room 7, and pulled the curtains open, immediately spotting Secret Agent sitting on the bed side, he didn't notice she was there though, he was just staring at the wall.
"So, why are you hiding from me?" Head Nurse stepped into the room, Secret Agent snapped his head around, had hand reaching for his gun before he realized who it was.
"Don't sneak up on me like that..." He mumbled, letting out a sigh of relief.
Head Nurse walked over and sat next to Secret Agent, the bed creaking as they both sat together, "Alright, I got you some coffee, it's lukewarm though."
Secret Agent hesitated a bit before taking the coffee out of Head Nurse's hands, immediately chugging all of it, once he was done he set it onto the bed.
"Wow that was awful, should’ve just made a new one."
"It wouldn't be so awful if you weren't hiding from me." Head Nurse's eyes narrowed.
"I was joking, the coffee was great, I needed it. And I wasn't hiding from you?"
"Then what are you doing just sitting here."
Secret Agent sighed, "I just needed to collect my thoughts."
"Fair." Head Nurse wanted to push it more, but she knew how quickly Secret Agent would shut her down, she was lucky he didn't already send her off. Actually, Secret Agent seemed off for a while now, he didn't hear the door to room seven open, and he didn't notice her walking up to him earlier. Ever since he came out of Dr. Harlow's office he seemed more disheveled than normal. Plus his tail was out for some reason.
Head Nurse had never seen his tail before, he was so reserved and never wore anything lighter than that suit, she had no idea how he could stand having his tail stuffed in his suit, but it never bothered her much now, still it was likely she'd never get another chance to do this.
"Can I touch your tail?"
"What."
"Your tail? Can I touch it?"
Secret Agent blinked, then blinked again in shock, "my tails out!?"
"Yeah... it's been out this entire time. You never noticed?"
Secret Agent's ears flattened against his head as he flicked his tail around his waist, spotting it immediately, "oh."
"It's fine, I don't know how you can handle keeping it stuffed away all day honestly."
"Well, it isn't comfortable." Secret Agent murmured, Head Nurse chuckled a bit.
Secret Agent was silent for a bit before he finally mumbled, "sure."
"Hm?"
"You can touch it."
"Touch what?"
Secret Agent's face somehow got even darker, likely due to how much he was blushing. "My tail."
"Oh!" Head Nurse was a bit shocked, she didn't expect him to actually even go back to that.
“I was sort of half joking when I said that.” Head Nurse chuckled
”Oh…” Secret Agent sighed, Head Nurse stared at him, he almost seemed like he was… sulking over it?
”…Do you want me to?”
Secret Agent went completely still, but Head Nurse noticed his tail quiver a little.
She smiled, it made sense that he wouldn’t be great at controlling his tail if he kept it hidden all day.
Head Nurse reached out and gently rested her hand on his tail, it wasn't soft like here's by any means, it was lean and oddly enough had quite a bit of muscle in it, she had no idea that was even possible. She tried to be as light as possible, she knew how much she hated her tail coming into contact with anything felt, it felt like her core was being disturbed.
"Your tail feels weird compared to mine honestly," Head Nurse said, Secret Agent didn't reply though, he was to busy avoiding her gaze. She smiled at how flustered he was getting, although she couldn't imagine someone toughing her own tail, the only person that had ever done so was he own mother.
Now that she thought about it, it might've been the same for him, she suddenly felt a bit guilty for this.
"It's fine right?"
"Hmm?" Secret Agent attempted to sound curt, but she could pick up on a slight purr being repressed, she would know of course. She liked how much easier it was to read someone of her own species.
"Your tail, this is fine, right? I don't really like having mine touched honestly." She noticed how exhausted Secret Agent seemed, maybe it was because he was a lot more at rest here than back at the hospital where they had to stay alert at all times, she could just barely see his eye bags due to his jet black fur.
"of course it is." Secret agent murmured, Head Nurse got an idea, but she didn't want to push her luck, still she never knew when Secret Agent would open up to her or anyone for that matter again, it could be months. Might as well take advantage of the situation.
She reached up and rested her hand on his head, rubbing right behind his ear, "I can do this to?"
Secret Agent instinctively leaned into her touch now, he didn't even answer her, but she took that as a yes.
She kept rubbing the back of his ears, and slowly she could feel any tension in him slowly melt away as he slowly but surely leaned onto her shoulder. She smiled, feeling a bit of happiness swell in her chest as how comfortable he was, it was honestly sort of shocking.
"Your dozing off dear," she whispered, she spotted Secret Agent's ears twitch, but he didn't get up. Secret Agent was practically asleep. She'd be lying if she said she never found Secret Agent atleast a little handsome, but she always thought of him as a workaholic, hypocritical for her to call someone a workaholic sure but he seemed like he didn't do much else but work. And she might've been right with how he was right now, she never thought this was how her day would end.
"Oh what the hell." Head Nurse flipped Secret Agent over and with a bit of maneuvering, she found herself lied on her back on the bed with Secret Agent's face buried in her chest. She somewhat wished he was awake, but maybe it was better he wasn't, he'd likely never let her do this otherwise.
"You fell asleep quickly huh?" She chuckled, but she noticed his eyelid twitch a bit, she froze.
Is he fake sleeping?
She almost burst out laughing, she couldn't believe this was the same stoic, no nonsense Secret Agent she saw every single day, she ran her hand over the back of his head, gently caressing it, she could feel him melt to her touch and it almost made Head Nurse let out a purr. She moved her hand down to his nape and felt him twitch before he completely rubbed against her hand. Head Nurse purred at how much he was allowing himself to get lost into her touch.
"Wow, I did not expect that, that's for sure." She kept rubbing his nape, the sensitive area making Secret Agent completely forget he was fake sleeping and hug her, she paused, feeling her own face blush profusely at the hug, luckily he was to busy keeping his eyes closed, she would be humiliated if anyone could see how flushed her face was at this point.
But unfortunately, they were still at a hospital after all, the fun couldn't last forever.
"I know your awake" She purred, Secret Agent froze, likely trying not to make a sound, but Head Nurse started to massage his nape again.
"Alright, alright!" Secret Agent finally lifted his head, "if you knew why didn't you say anything."
"You seemed like you needed this." Head Nurse laughed, Secret Agent's face flushed an even deeper black and he dropped his head again, making Head Nurse burst out laughing, she couldn't remember the last time she had a laugh this good, she definitely needed this to.
"It's fine,, I don't mind, I really don't mind at all!" Head Nurse finally stopped laughing, she felt a little bad for Secret Agent, who looked almost ashamed by himself, in fact he was avoiding her gaze and not saying a word.
"Hey, are you okay? I didn't mean to make you sad, it was just a little funny that's all, you never get like th-"
"I like you."
"...what?"
Secret Agent's ears flattened, "I like you, I have for a while now and... yeah."
Head Nurse was at a loss for words, it might've been obvious with how he was acting lately, but she didn't expect this of all things, especially not at 4AM.
"I understand you probably don't really want to date me, we haven't talked that much and you don't know me all to well. But I should probably tell you this."
Head Nurse was happy he was looking away, or he'd be able to see how flustered she was as well, she could feel her heart thumping much louder than ever before, she was at an absolute loss for words, but she wasn't at a loss for ideas.
"...what do you like about me?"
Secret Agent hung his head, "well... I like your attitude,"
"My attitude?"
"Yeah, I like how straight to the point you are, maybe your confidence would be a better word for it, I love how you carry yourself and how you... I like how you smell, alot, and how you never seem to let anything bring you down, and your very, very beautiful, like your gorgeous, I really like how-"
"T-That's enough!' Head Nurse stopped him, getting more and more flustered with each compliment. "okay, maybe I like you too." She murmured, she couldn't help but smile a bit as Secret Agent's eyes shone.
"Oh thank god, this would've been really awkward if you didn't," He sighed with relief, Head Nurse could just hardly see his smile underneath his black fur.
"We can try dating," Head Nurse sighed, smiling when she noticed Secret Agent's tail quivering in excitement.
They sat in bed, still practically cuddling Secret Agent decided to press a kiss onto Head Nurse's cheek.
"Woah, slow down there." Head Nurse pressed a finger onto his forehead, but she had a small smile on her face as she leaned in and gave him a small kiss, pulling back as quickly as it started and watching as Secret Agent frozen in place from it, his tail was twitching uncontrollably and his pupils dilated much wider than she expected, making her giggle a bit.
"When was the last time you dated someone?"
Secret Agent blinked back to life, "oh, um... never?"
"What!?"
Secret agent seemed shocked by her reaction, "I never had the time for it, I was all to busy training and doing other things."
Head Nurse blinked in shock, "so I'm your first?"
"I guess so."
Head Nurse chucked to herself, before remembering the next shift was going to start soon enough and they had to head home, "The next shift is going to start soon, and I told Nurse she'd need to do this one on her own."
"Oh..." Secret Agent pulled away reluctantly, Head Nurse slowly got up as well.
"So, can I come to your house?" Secret Agent asked, Head Nurse tilted her head, she wasn't expecting any visitors, but it couldn't be to dirty.
"Sure, we can continue there." She smiled, "But first, lets get up and out before someone notices how long we've been gone for."
"Yeah, we should," Secret Agent replied, some of that curtness returning to his voice.
They walked into the Check in room to clock out, Secretary had already left and Intern had taken his spot, they must've been back there for a while because Nurse and Security were already here as well. Head Nurse put up her badge alongside Secret Agent before walking out of the hospital.
"So, what do you like about me?" Secret Agent mumbled, and Head Nurse chuckled.
"Yeah I'm not answering that, lets head to my house now." She started walking and Secret agent caught up quickly, suddenly taking her hand in his. She felt butterfly's swarm in her stomach.
She intertwined her fingers with his, already knowing this would be a fun night for them."
