Work Text:
Lukey hummed as he walked through the streets of the capital city. Looking in his book to see what he needed.
He had offered to go out and buy some stuff for megi since she was on edge due to people pretending to be guards and then the shadow man.
And since he had multiple ways of escaping, the void and then also the null, he was in no danger.
He closed the book and finally got the market, it was mid day so it was bustling and cramped. Kids running around and adults trying to wrangle them up.
He sighed, ignoring the stares he was getting due to Rex on his back. His deep skulk blue coloured scales absorbing the light around him.
It was common the dragon riders to get stares, even more so now a days. A lot of the people here seem to dislike them for some reason. But lukey wasn’t bothered about that, he had gotten used to being disliked back in the realm.
Walking up to a stall, he looked at what the lady was selling.
“Can I have some enderpearls please”
He asks, opening his satchel to get some shards, or whatever they where called, out.
“4 enderpearls costs a stack.”
Lukey stared, just for some pearls he was paying that much.
“Here, 4 stacks.”
The lady nodded and gave him the 16 enderpearls, before she looked up at him.
“You know, your so pretty. Why don’t you-“
“Sorry but im taken”
He interrupted, turning and walking away. He doesn’t understand why everyone here was trying to get with him.
Back in the realm he was the most average person ever. compared to bad and foolish, who were literally imortal gods., And then pangi and clown, who both looked like demons cohercing others to there deaths.
lukey was nothing. sure he had the grace of a keeper, walking like he was floating and never looked like he was wrong in his actions. but he wasn't like them.
so why did everyone here think differently?
it was a question he asked everyday, and a question that annoyed him as well.
he shouldn't have to constantly say he was taken for people to back off. he shouldn't be left alone anyway.
he shook his head and sighed. remembering he needed to buy some wheat seeds.
he considered seeing if megii could go into the capital for him from now on. sure she would understand his reasoning of "there all flirting with me." and agree.
surely.
"megi please, you don't understand"
he whined as he begged the other, eyes wide with the intent of getting her to agree.
"no lukey. you can go yourself, just because they flirt with you, does not mean you should get me to do everything for you."
she scolded, sighing as she watched rex and glyph run around the dorm.
"pleaseeee, im actually begging you. i don't understand why there so infatuated with me! im completely average, plus i am very much taken"
he scoffed, looking in the vials of his desk as a reflection, untill he heard an offended scoff.
"average! lukey, you are no where near average. you are considered attractive to most. who made you think so lowly of yourself!"
she gasped, eyes wide and offended for him.
"there's no way. i'm sorry but compared to some people i know, im average. the king- no foolish and bad, are actually like top tier men. i'm telling you"
he cut himself of, remembering they don't exist here.
"and then clo- the mage and pangi! there just... you know!"
he sputtered, remembering that there was a different version of clown here.
"you don't understand"
he faked cried, hitting his head on the desk.
"lukey, you are like... otherworldly. your hair, the way you walk... so much more. you just have this shimmer around you"
lukey stiffened.
"what?"
"it's like, an aura i guess's that makes people trust you and agree with you more easily. it's creepy honestly"
lukey moved to stare at her, eyes wide.
he never realised that he had the keepers aura, and that's what terrified him. how many people trusted him because of it, how many people agreed with his manic plans due to being compelled to.
"i- i umm. i've gotta go do something"
he stammered out before letting the void consume him and take him to the endless land.
he collapsed on the floor, eyes wide in fear. wondering how much of himself is just a replication of the keepers.
he had considered himself average, because he saw his true self. but others saw him as some sort of...
otherworldly being,
all because of the keepers.
and sure he understood that he was otherworldly in the sense of he didn't belong in the world, that he was a realm hopper.
but everything else about him is just the keepers...
