Chapter Text
As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect.
‘…Huh…what was that?’ Takumi wasn’t even sure what popped into his state of mind just now. It occurred in his own head, yet it seemed as though he was not the owner of that own thought… Now that he realized it, what was he doing? No, the question should be asked was what was even happening again? Everything around him seemed peculiar, unreal for some reason. Like it wasn’t even a real place, but somewhere in the dream of an insect in a deep sleep… Right when he was feeling uneasy with how abnormal things were at the moment, Takumi realized, ‘That’s it. This must be a dream.’ Now it finally made sense. What was left to do was waking up, and everything would be normal again… Then, he would spend a day preparing for next defensive battles. Maybe training, maybe going on an exploration. Perhaps he was more than used to being the leader of the SDU now, to be able to plan things even during his sleep like this.
Only a few moments later, the morning announcement rang as expected. That was when the young man could finally open his eyes, breaking from the flow of thought he couldn’t even comprehend what it meant exactly. He blinked. Slowly forgetting what he was even thinking about as he regained his consciousness. Just as expected…
Until it was not. Until reality—was far stranger than a dream. It was when he was trying to move that he became aware of the oddity; something was terribly wrong— with his body, to be specific.
If he could run to see the reflection that should be his same, old face in the mirror, he would immediately. But he couldn’t—he couldn’t even get up from the bed. Prior, he couldn’t even lift his arms like normal. Arms…? Takumi looked at his ‘arms’ in horror… They didn’t look like human limbs like they were supposed to. Rather, they looked like the scrawny, yet gigantic legs of an insect. And there were numerous of them, instead of just two. At the moment, he wanted to scream his lungs out. Lying on his hard, armor-plated back, Takumi tried to shut his eyes once more, but it seemed like he could not close them. Since the human eyelids were gone completely.
This must be a dream.
There is no way this is not a dream, isn’t it? No matter how real it seems. Takumi took a deep breath. Right. No need to be alarmed—it’s impossible for a dream to keep going on forever, he is going to wake up eventually. Everything will be normal again. He thought, trying to calm himself down. However, it felt even more real as time passed by. Now, Takumi felt wide awake, and became fully aware of his surroundings. He was in his own room on the same rooftop of the building. It looked the exact same. It was a scene he had his gaze on repeatedly ever since his arrival at the school. Nothing changed, everything was normal—it was not a nightmare. Therefore, he couldn’t wake up.
He was transformed into an enormous insect—It appeared to be.
Takumi was dumbfounded, feeling dread, perhaps. Normally when something happened, the other members ran to him for help. It was only natural considering his position. But what was he to do when the problem was happening to him? Who could he turn to for help in this situation…? No one popped into his mind.
Hmm.
Unexpectedly calm, he thought to himself; if he killed himself, would his body be back again?
That is it. He knew what to do now.
Awkwardly, Takumi successfully controlled his own insect limbs. Slowly, he started moving. Detachedly, he started thinking. With the current condition, he can not hold his infuser, so how does he do it? He tried to recall a way to kill a cockroach his mother did back home. Soap should be able to kill a cockroach by making them suffocate to death… With a clear objective in mind, he made his way to the bathroom, of course, with a great amount of struggle.
Then he killed himself.
Farewell to a strange, disturbing, disgusting nightmare.
Or so he thought. As he regained his consciousness from his temporary death, Takumi then realized that he was still trapped in the body of a giant cockroach. Nothing changed. Nothing at all.
It was not long before the others found him. Found his nasty, bile-stained, rotted, gutted, horrible, disgusting, revolting, stomach-churning, nauseating, vile, hideous, repulsive, grotesque, unsightly, repugnant, abominable, ugly, insect form.
Not a single one of them was not shocked.
Some of them let a scream out. Like they had laid eyes upon a horrendous monster.
Well, he was metamorphosed into one, maybe.
