Gus leans against the fence awaiting his date. "Where is that loser?" He thought aloud. "Wait, Gus, I'm here!!" Mattholomule yelled, running towards Gus. "There you are! I've been waiting for almost an hour." Mattholomule thought Gus would be mad, but he didn't seem too upset, just a little disappointed. "Haha, sorry, I kind of have a track record for being late. I would use an excuse, but I can't really think of one.." Matt said looking away. Gus smiled and tilted his head. Why was Matty always so damn cute? He thought. "It's ok. Let's go, I'm not gonna stand here forever." Gus stated, keeping his eyes on Mattholomule.
The couple entered the carnival and Gus thought back to the time he was here with Luz and Willow. "Matty, have you ever been here before?" Gus asked. "Uhm, no, I've actually never really been to a carnival. But why are you asking?" Mattholomule returned. "I dunno. I was just thinking back to the time I went here. I'm kind of surprised it's still in business honestly." Gus laughed and Matt's entire face lit up. Gus was a natural comedian, no doubt about that.
"What rides should we go on?" Gus thought about what rides Mattholomule would like. Hm, he's cool so he'd probably want to go on a tough looking ride. Gus thought, nodding his head. "Ooo, we should go on that one!" Matt exclaimed, pointing to the teacups. Gus giggled, looking at Mattholomule who was jumping up and down and grabbing on to Gus' arm. He should have expected that from the cute lil dork. Gus sighed happily, running his fingers through the shorter witch's hair. "Yeah, those look fun." Augustus beamed.
"Ok, that was fun.. but I want to go on an actually cool ride this time." Mattholomule said, after realizing how embarrassing and lame he seemed when he suggested the teacups."Ok.. are you sure you can handle it though?"
"Pfft, of course I can handle it."
He in fact could not handle it.
Gus patted his partners back, with a facial expression that would make you think he just saw a ghost. "I told you, idiot." He reminded Matt. "You know me too well." Matt sighed. "Of course I do. How could I not when I find everything about you so fascinating?" Gus flirted confidently. Mattholomule blushed like crazy, wondering why Gus would even think that about a loser like him. Mattholomule was silent. Gus worried, Why has he been silent for so long? Did I say something wrong?
"W-we should go. Your shirt is all messed up anyw-"
"Why would you think that about me?"
Mattholomule's question caught Gus off guard. "Wh-what do you mean?" Augustus' worry continued. "I mean, why would you think something like that about me? I'm not even cool at all, I just pretend to be cool so people like Bria won't make fun of me." Mattholomule picked at his sleeve. What will Gus think of me now? He'll probably hate me. I'm stupid to think anyone would ever like me. Matt's thoughts were interrupted by a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Hey, Matty, it's ok. I would never think less of you no matter how uncool you are. But I still think you're pretty cool anyway, even when you're not pretending. And I'm nothing like Bria, so you have nothing to worry about!"
Mattholomule pulled Gus in for a hug, squeezing so tight Gus thought he heard his bones crack. Even though he thought his bones were breaking, Gus hugged Mattholomule back even tighter. "Eww, you're shirt is all throw-uppy." Gus remembered, but he didn't really care. He would hug his boyfriend no matter how gross his shirt was. "But seriously, we should head home, you're covered in throw up."
