Everythings About to Change

Summary:

Baby notices Zoey being aloof and out of it more than normal. Different things add up, so he figures a conversation over her favorite dinner may help release information.

Work Text:

Zoey had been oddly quiet. Baby didn't know why, but he was starting to get concerned. She was always excited when he was around, but lately it had been where she had been subdued around everyone. She had been thinking about things a lot, getting lost in her mind. Sure, she did that. But this was different.

They had been dating for three years, finally had a secret wedding and been married for two. They hadn't told the fans, they had taken a few different hiatus' throughout the years. Doing separate projects. It was obvious that Baby and Zoey were together. That much of their relationship was public.

When Zoey suggested they get married, for a variety of reasons, Baby wasn't so sure in the beginning. Once they talked about it, he realized it would be better. She was his and he had always wanted the world to know. What better way than getting married? She was his, and he was hers.

Living together was effortless. They blended and worked together so seamlessly. So, whens something was amiss, he noticed. How she was quieter than normal. Lost in her head. Finally having enough of it one night, he had made her favorite dinner. She barely touched it, pushing the food around with a fork.

"Babe." He nudged her foot with his. She looked up at him, her eyes guarded. "What's wrong?"

"What? Nothing's wrong! Nope. Everything's fine! Why'd you think something was wrong? Everything's perfect!" She rambled, tapping her fingers quickly on the table and looking everywhere but in his eyes.

"Okay, tell me that again and look me in the eyes." He reached over, guiding her face to look at him eye to eye. She blinked owlishly for a moment so he returned the look. Eyes wide as he gazed at her. Reluctantly she broke.

"Okay. I do have something on my mind." She bit her lip, looking in her gaze before looking away.

"Please stop looking away." He groaned. He gave her a look of 'look towards me if you can't look in my eyes', something they started doing early in their relationship. Sometimes eyecontact is overwhelming and they understood each other. "Please, tell me what's wrong?"

"Well. Uh." She blushed, her face reddening continuously. He arched an eyebrow as he watched her. "What do you think about babies?" He arched the eyebrow higher. "I-I mean. Uh. What if we started a family? Ya know. A little you or me running around? We've uh not actually talked about it before so I'm like sooo curious as to what you think? It's not like there's a current issue right now or anything. SO!" She clapped her hands. "What do you think about kids?" She raised a eyebrow, looking at him. He blinked once her rambling was done, tilting his head to the side and his hair fell slightly across his head.

"You're pregnant." He stated plainly.

"Psssh... Noooo." She waves him off but avoids looking at him. Avoids his contact with every ounce of her being. "Just you know, hypothetical."

"You've not menstruated this month, and if I'm remembering correctly, you also didn't last month." He stated gently. "You must've taken a test, with how you are acting." He spoke gently. She blinked owlishly at him, mimicking his insane staring gaze.

"How- you track my cycle?" He arched his eyebrow.

"Why wouldn't I?" He tilted his head the other way, reminding her of Derpy. "You're my wife. I love you. I know how rough it can be and you always want me warm you up when your cramps get bad." He explained. "I haven't had to help you for two months. Plus I've not smelled blood on you either, meaning you've not secretly been using products like you normally do." He continued to explain causing her to fall more in love with him.

"I- Wow, Baby. You're amazing." She sighed, smiling and shaking her head in a awed sort of way.

"I mean, I care about you, why wouldn't I have paid attention to you?" He arched an eyebrow before going back to his food. "So, how are you feeling?"

"Are you okay with it?" She asks gently, watching him. He paused as he stuffed his mouth full of food. He blinked at her a moment before swallowing.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" He arched an eyebrow.

"We didn't plan it-"

"Life doesn't have to be planned. We weren't cautious one time and it's resulted in you probably being pregnant. The largest thing may be the fact it will be half demon, but we have Rumi. We won't be going in blind like that Celine of yours. Plus, I'm around. You are around. It's not going to be a one person operation." He explained as he continued to eat. She blinked, thinking about it.

"So you're okay with it?" He smiled softly, setting his fork down gently and got up, going over to her and scooting her chair back so she was now angled. He squatted, resting his head on her knees and looking up at her.

"Babe. You're carrying our child. I never got to experience this in my previous life, and from what little I remember, I wanted to. You're giving me the reality of a dream I did not know I wanted." He smiled, standing up and cupping her face, tilting her head up just so allowing for their eyes to meet. "I'm going to be a dad. And you're going to be a mom. We've started our family beyond the cats and dogs and turtles." He leaned down, placing a slow loving kiss upon her lips.
