Chapter Text
“No! W-we’re in this together..!”
Verity chirped, trying to force a cheerful voice - though both he and the man in front him could hear the cracks in his tone. He always did this. Verity was quite good at forcing himself to be cheerful, mere seconds after almost breaking down. But there were cracks this time. Mob’s hands were shaking, as if the pistol pointed at Verity weighed 100 pounds.
“Just… just, put the gun down, and…”
BANG.
Verity was cut off mid sentence. He didn’t even have time to process the sight of Mob suddenly pointing the end of the gun to his throat, placing the cold metal underneath his chin and pulling the trigger. He fell to the floor with a soft thud. Verity stared for a moment, in shock. No. No no no… not again..
Verity was snapped out of his racing thoughts when he saw the blood start to pool onto the floor near Mob’s throat. Oh god.. he actually shot himself..
Verity darted to Mob, crouching down to inspect the injury. With trembling hands, he carefully turned Mob over, moving his long dreadlocks out of the way to inspect the injury. Verity nearly gagged upon seeing the gunshot.
Verity knew he’s seen and done things far worse than this, clenching his jaw as the memory of Twixxel, bloody, beaten, and barely breathing crossed his mind. He remembered that night vividly. Twixxel turning around curiously at Verity’s sudden entrance, before yelping in surprise, stumbling back as he saw the monstrosity behind him. Verity shut him up quickly. He couldn’t let Mob hear what was happening. Verity remembered dragging Twixxel out of the cabin, wanting the crime scene that Twixxel would soon be to be decently hidden. He remembered not even giving the man a chance to fight back, taking out all of his anger and jealousy on him. By the time Verity was done with his vile crime, Twixxel was barely recognizable. He remembered staring down at the poor man with a twisted sense of satisfaction.
Verity felt confused as to why he felt so sensitive to Mob’s wound? He did far, far worse to Twixxel, and all the others before him. Why? What was this feeling in the bottom of his stomach?
With shaking hands, Verity undid his tie, wrapping it around Mob’s throat as a temporary aid. But Verity knew that it wouldn’t do much. He only had so long until the one person who gave him more than a thoughtless glance was gone forever. He carefully picked up Mob, trying to support his tall form.
“Okay..” Verity subconsciously mumbled, trying to ignore the pit in his stomach. He started walking, trying not to gag as he felt blood dripping onto his vest.
