When Lancelot first saw Galehaut he nearly lost it. It was a normal day at the restaurant, he was waiting tables as usual when the most beautiful man in the world walked in. He was tall, handsome, with kind green eyes, a thick black beard, thick arms and legs, and he looked like he could take anyone in a fight.
More than that, Lancelot swore he saw him before he just couldn’t place it. Maybe he was in a movie or a tv show but if that was the case Lancelot was positive, he would have known. Maybe he saw him across the street or had him in a long-forgotten class. But nothing about this man was forgettable, in fact everything he did made Lancelot lose his breath.
“Is Lancelot alright?” asked Dinadan watching the scene play out. The waiter took the man to a table in the corner
“If I didn’t know better, I would say Lancelot has a crush on him,” said Gawain.
The two shook their heads in disbelief. Most likely the man was a critic, and Lancelot was trying to make a good impression. He wasn’t Arthur’s best waiter for nothing. The man was a professional to his core while also chivalrous enough to make any customer happy.
Gawain carried on with his shift, going to the kitchen where Kay was busy making burgers.
“Hey, is table nine’s order ready?”
“Yeah, give me a minute.”
“Gawain,” Lancelot burst into the room, “Would you be willing to switch table seven for table five?”
“Yeah.”
“Thank you, I will forever be in your debt.” He exited the kitchen as quickly as he entered.
“What was that?” asked Kay.
“Beats me,” but he was sure what just happen was an omen for what was to come.
Bedivere was minding his business writing down orders when he saw a man that looked like a giant making heart eyes at Lancelot. The man had a regal fierceness about him. But what really got him was the endless starring. He wasn’t sure if the man ever blink.
Feeling a bit protective about his co-worker Bedivere stepped in front of the man, “Can I help you?”
“Is he single?” the man asked which was way more direct then Bedivere ever thought he would be.
“You mean Lancelot.”
“Lancelot,” said Galehaut with a soft smile, “It suits him perfectly.”
“Sorry we have a strict no dating customers policy,” this was blatantly not true in the slightest, but what the man didn’t know wouldn’t hurt him.
Of course that was the moment Lancelot approached the table, “Bedivere?” his voice held a note of betrayal.
“Just checking in,” Bedivere muttered quickly stepping away. Actually, he didn’t need to get involved.
Dinadan didn’t think he could possibly get involved with the situation at hand. He had no taste for romance and that was something everyone knew. Except for Lancelot apparently, who approached him on his break no less.
“You want me to buy roses so you can give it to our customer?” he said still not believing the request.
“I’ll pay you back.”
“That’s not the problem,” Dinadan muttered.
“You’re the only one on break there is no one else I can ask. I need you,” Lancelot fell to his knees which made the situation all the more awkward.
“You’re acting insane.”
“I can’t help it; he’s the most handsome man to ever grace the earth.”
“I mean if you’re into beards or people, he’s not bad looking,” Dinadan said with a look of disgust.
“Please help me, I need to court this man.”
“No, no you don’t.”
“Surely there is something that will sway you.”
“I fear there isn’t a thing in this world that could,” Dinadan paused for a moment, he saw the absolute desperation in Lancelot’s eyes. This was a man who was truly willing to do anything, “I need you to take the blame for any and all pranks I commit in the next five years.”
“Deal.”
Gawain wasn’t exactly sure how Lancelot managed to give the man roses, but he did.
“What the hell is happening?!” asked Arthur, their very angry boss.
“Um, I think Lancelot likes someone.”
“I can see that. I mean what the hell is Galehaut doing here?”
“Huh, that name sounds familiar,” said Gawain looking at his very very angry boss. The waiter wisely took a step back.
“Galehaut owns the Wal Sword pub.” Right, that multi-million chain.
“Wow, Lancelot is smarter than we given him credit.”
Gawain received a slap on the back. “Don’t you see, Galehaut is trying to steal my best waiter, he’ll probably run us out of business too.”
The threat in question was currently kissing Lancelot’s hand.
“I don’t know, maybe we just got ourselves a very rich patron,” either way Gawain was just happy that Galehaut matched Lancelot’s freak as opposed to being disturbed.
