Summary:

You and Toru get in a argument and you forget your umbrella. How will the situation resolve itself? Will the rain bring you down or will someone save the day?

Not really angst but there is a happy ending! no worries! Fluff! A short and sweet drabble.

2nd person pov

Notes:

If you know what manga side story this was inspired by you're either old like me or you like suffering. I'll give a hint: I always preferred K over Z. However, I definitely would not recommend this manga at all and I've read it like 3 times.

Work Text:

The rain drizzled off the awning and down the pavement; the dark clouds hung overhead as you tried to contain your annoyance. You had forgotten your umbrella this morning. You had known it was going to rain and you had planned on grabbing the one item you told yourself you wouldn't forget. You had even told Toru the night before to remind you.

Unfortunately, the morning had taken a turn for the worse when the tension you and Toru had been holding in all weekend finally snapped, leading to an argument. An argument you spent the entirety of your morning ruminating over. Annoyance radiated through you and now you were forced to face the gross, sticky rain.

There was no other choice but to walk and while you could have found another means of transportation, you figured the rain would solidify your anger enough for a round two with the aggravating man waiting for you at home. The clap of your shoes filled your ears with each wet smack down the building steps. The coil in your chest tightening as you rounded the corner; however, your thoughts were interrupted as a light shadow appeared overhead; your eyes catching the lip of an umbrella.

You turned to see the sheepish smile of Oikawa as he held the black umbrella over you. His long form and tousled hair in his typical handsome fashion irritated you. Your scowl deepened as you pushed the tip of the umbrella away and sped walked past him.

You didn't need to see Oikawa to picture the pout forming on his face as he caught back up to you, holding the umbrella above your head. You pushed the tip again. This continued back and forth as you stubbornly tried to not utilize the umbrella Oikawa held out for you.

After the tenth iteration of you pushing it away you spun around. Eyes narrowed. "You are the worst, most depraved jerk."

Oikawa mouth fell open at your words, his eyes shifting away as he fidgeting with the umbrella handle, looking put out. He was unable to answer as you continued on.

"You think you can just show up, with your charming smile and tailored jacket and bring the umbrella - that I forgot because of you by the way- and I'll just forgive you!"

Oikawa rubbed the back of his head with his free hand, a look of guilt on his face. He leaned slightly forward still trying to place you underneath most of the umbrella while simultaneously revealing more of himself to the rain.

"And what kind of guy only brings one umbrella when his girlfriend is clearly mad at him? Do I look like I want an escort?" You snapped. At this point the two of you were ending up more damped than dry.

Oikawa's mouth perked up again in a light smile as his eyes softened.

"I wanted to share an umbrella with you."

Your face fell in disbelief. The silence stretched on between you with only the pattering is the rain offering a slight solace. An exasperated laugh escaped your lips and you placed your face on your hands. There was a frantic movement from Oikawa as he closed the distance between you.

"Ack, are you crying!" Oikawa tried to hold the umbrella while also lightly pull at your hands to get a better look at your face. "I really am sorry. I was so stressed from the loss on Saturday and the upcoming wedding. I shouldn't have taken it out on you."

When he removed your hands your smile widened. In truth, the fight hadn't been just his fault. You were also stressed, and neither one of you had taken a break in quite a while.

You glanced up into his brown eyes seeing the slight confusion on his face. He relaxed slightly when it was apparent that there were no tears in your eyes.

"You're a fool," you professed. Your eyes glinting with amusement.

"Only for you." He readily answered. He pulled you in close. The umbrella shielding the two of you from the rain as he wrapped his arms around you and gave you a quick peck on the lips.

You reached your face back towards his, your lips melding together. His floppy brown hair tickled your face when you pulled apart.

"Shall we head back?" You asked. The grin on your face widening.

"Oh I don't know. Are you sure you want ME to escort you back," Toru teased. He lifted you slightly, walking you backwards along the path.

"Well you came all this way." He huffed at your retort before sticking his tongue out mockingly.

You acquiesced with a smile, moving to walk arm and arm with him down the path. The umbrella held steadily between the two of you.

"I'm sorry too. I wasn't especially considerate this morning," you apologized. He squeezed your arm, giving you a light smile before his face morphed into a dramatic frown.

"How will I ever forgive you?" He sighed. Your eyes rolled as you shoved your elbow into his side.

"I'm going to take my apology back."

"No don't take it back!"

He nudged you in return. The play fighting spurred you along the path before Oikawa grabbed your waist and spun the two of you in a circle. The umbrella hardly covering the two of you as the droplets hit your face.

Your laughs echoed throughout the streets mixing with the spattered rain drops. Even when you argued there was always a bit of fun. The dampest of days would never diminish the flame between you two and there was certainly more fun to be had.
