Chapter Text
I still remember the fear of being underwater.
I felt cold pain throughout my entire body. I was deep underwater and I looked around frantically until I found it. I thrashed my arms and legs around trying to get out. To be free. Hope -light- was right there. So far away yet so close. The water was crushing my lungs. Running out of time. Need to hurry. But what after felt like an eternity, something hit my head hard. I opened my mouth in a choked scream. Then, I stopped moving and my body was now numb. I slowly watched the light drifing away from me. The sound of my heart that was pounding in my ears slowed down as red bled through the water. I closed my eyes accepting my fate.
No memories. No thoughts. Just the knowing fact I was going to die.
I opened my eyes one last time and saw the blurry image of a hand reaching out. I reached my own hand out instinctively before I blacked out.
I sat up quickly and coughed up water. I wheezed before laughing. I was alive and breathing.
I closed my eyes as the warm sun dried off my body. When I opened them I saw a pair of two emerald eyes staring back at me. I jumped and scrambled away.
The guy had curly green hair and his eyes to match it. A kind and concern face was staring at me before speaking.
"Sorry for scaring you but you need to come with me now. You may be out of water but your head is still bleeding. Holy All might it looks bad. Come on my back. I'll help you. I got no time to head to the hospital -I'm gonna be late for class- so recovery girls office it is."
He picked me up and I sat with my legs and arm around him. He jumped and went off into the air before I rested my head on his strong back and blacked out again.
I woke up to being in a white room as a kind old lady and the green haired guy was watching me. I sat up slowly and looked at them. Before I could speak, green hair guy speaks.
"I'm so glad you are finally awake. You passed out while I was bringing you here and I got scared-"
The old lady interrupts him, "Calm down Izuku. She just woke up," She turns to me, "Now how are you feeling?"
I looked at both of them before replying, "I feel fine. A little confused but fine."
Green haired guy -Izuku- speaks. "I was on my way back from grabbing somthing for the dorms when I heard people yelling that there was a woman drowning. I jumped in and saved you and brought you here to recovery girl. Oh! My name is Izuku Midoriya. What's yours?"
I stare at him for a few seconds before answering. "Aya. Aya Higashino."
Izuku smiles, "Wow! Such a nice name!"
I smile back. He was really nice and not to mention he saved me from drowning. Then I watch him look at the clock and gasp and mumbling somthing about how he can't be late again for the fourth time this week. Then he leaves to his class. Recovery girl looks over at me.
"Aya. Or do do want me to call you Higashino?" Recovery Girl askes.
I shake my head, "Aya is fine."
Nodding she continues, "Anyway, Aya, I wanted to ask on how you ended up in the water."
I sit there thinking for a few moments then I shake my head,"No. I dont remember how I got in. Or anything before that actually."
She furrows her eyesbrows in worry, "Well then, you will stay in here for a few days so I can keep watch on the head wound. I would use my quirk, but it would drain too much of your energy that you don't have right now. For now, take some rest while I figure out your situation." With that she walks out the door closing it softly.
I turn to the window and look outside. It was a clear and sunny day. Trees and walking areas were the only thing visible through this window. There was already a couple people -Ua students- outside and I watched these certain two students. They were hugging each other while whispering in each others ear. Probably all sweet and kind words. It was a happy sight. Then, I looked at my reflection in the window. Long jet black hair paired with ocean blue eyes with bandages wrapped around my head. My skin was pale but it had blotches of black skin that matched my hair. Was it a side effect of a quirk? What was my quirk? Did I even have one? Was it strong or weak? Did I used to like it? Hate it? I looked back at the two people outside. They were joining some other people outside and walked into the building. Would it be somthing like that once I recovered? Will I remember my friends? Or family? What would they be like?
Then, I sigh and lay back down following recovery girls orders. No matter how much I question my life, I knew that my questions would go unanswered. Eyes closing, I slowly fell asleep with dreams of being underwater again.
Opening my eyes slowly, I sat up and blinked as the world slowly unblurred. Rubbing my eyes, I turn to the door as it opens. A small, white animal comes in holding a cup of tea with Recovery girl following him.
"So... This is the girl you were talking about yes?" The white thing askes and Recovery girl nods, "Alright then. She can follow your orders of staying in here until she heals up. Once she is healed and if she doesn't remember her family then she may stay at the dorms and attend UA. If she does remember then she may go back with then and if she wants to, she may attend to UA. Does that sound good to you Aya Higashino?"
I nod and smile. I may not remember my past but one thing for sure I remember that UA High School is the hardest school to enter. Everyone wants to go there and yet only very few people get in. And I just snagged a spot in UA by drowning and getting saved by a UA student.
White thing smiles and sips on his tea, "Perfect! Let me introduce myself. I and principle Nezu of UA! Its nice to meet you Aya."
I nod looking at white thing- ahem- princible Nezu, "Nice... to meet you too."
He sips on his tea, "The class you will go in after you recover is class 1a. Its the same class as Midoriya. I thought I would put you two in the same class since you two already know each other a bit. Now! I have other things I must attend to. Heal up well Higashino." He turns and leaves.
Recovery girl checks up on my head wound among other things but I didn't pay attention. I was too happy. I was going to become a hero.
