Chapter Text
BOOM
An explosion rang out in the classroom, shortly followed by poorly hidden snickering.
”Deku…”
Bakugo snarled, holding up the now-burnt notebook.
”Still writing these stalker notebooks, huh?”
Bakugo’s lips turned upward in a cruel smirk, his eyes glinting with malice.
“It’s like you don’t realize that you’ll never be a hero with your creepy villain quirk.”
He slammed the notebook the notebook onto the desk with another small explosion.
“You hear me?! Villains like you will never amount to anything.”
Izuku shrunk low into his seat. Well, lower than he already was, that is. Odd pixels flickered in & out of existence around him, courtesy of his quirk.
“Kacchan-”
”Don’t ‘Kacchan’ me! You’re useless! A Deku!”
Bakugo cut in before Izuku could even say a second word, before blasting the notebook one last time and throwing it out the window. Bakugo turned to leave the classroom, stopping at the doorway and turning back with a malicious expression.
”You want to be a hero so bad? Here’s some advice; take a swan dive off the roof and pray for a heroic quirk in your next life.”
The pixels around Izuku start to flicker more violently, the large amount of them obscuring his expression.
{30 minutes later}
Izuku walked along the path home, holding his dampened notebook to his chest as he thinks to back to what Bakugo said.
“It’s not funny… What if I’d actually jumped? What would he do then?”
As he walked, he was so lost in thought that he didn’t notice the manhole cover nearby start to shift and move.
{Insert the sewage guy scene because it doesn’t change much and I don’t want to write it out because I’m writing this out on my phone. I’m just gonna continue with All Might telling Izuku he can’t be a hero.}
“I’m sorry young man, but I don’t think you can be a hero. The public would never accept you. You would only be ridiculed and treated like an outcast, and the other heros would only avoid you if not treat you outright hostile. Become a paramedic or a police officer if you really want to help people. They get less attention, but they’re just as if not more important than the heroes.”
With that All Might left, leaving Izuku on the roof of that building by himself, stuck in his mind as Bakugo’s words from before resurfaced.
“…swan dive…”
{7 hours later. Just use your imagination for the other sewage guy scene, since it happens mostly the same, and again, on a phone. The only thing that's different is that Izuku takes a different street home and All Might never tells him that he can be a hero.}
Izuku laid in bed, looking at his ceiling as all the insults and taunts from over the years play in his head.
“Villain!”
“Deku!”
“Good for nothing!”
“He’ll never succeed in life…”
“Don’t even think about being a hero brat!”
“I’m sorry young man, but I don’t think you can be a hero.”
Bakugo’s words especially kept repeating in his mind again…
“Want to be a hero so bad? Here’s some advice; take a swan dive off the roof and pray for a heroic quirk in your next life.”
And again…
“Take a swan dive off the roof and pray for a heroic quirk in your next life.”
And AGAIN…
“Take a swan dive off the roof.”
And AGAIN…
”Swan dive off the roof.”
Izuku started to spiral down a pit of self deprecation and self hate.
“Sorry Mom, but I just can’t keep going…”
Izuku got up, and he started to write a note for whoever found his body, and a note for his mom. Once that was done he put on a hoodie and sweat pants and quietly left through the fire escape, moving back to the building where his dreams were destroyed. Somehow getting to the roof again, (don’t look at me, use your imagination,) he took off his shoes and sat on the edge of the roof.
